I don't know why we Nigerians loves focusing on negativity, I understand the fact that this is not the first time victor osimhen is letting his emotions gets the better of him, he over reacted, because we are already winning convincingly and he has already gotten two goals delivered to him by the same ademola lookman, so he shouldn't have over reacted that much, but we should try to focus more on the performance and the positive performance of the team.

Osimhen shouldn't be criticised when he does something wrong? How do you want him to learn from his mistakes without corrections. His behavour can cause division in the team which could have an adverse consequences. Do you know that he told the coach to substitute him because of his anger. Nigerians will focus on both the postitive and negative side of the game to have a balanced analysis of the match. Nigerians are happy with the team but Victor's behavour should also be corrected. Lets call a spade a spade.

Nigeria was quite outstanding in that game. I believed they could come out with the win in that game but I didn't envisage that number of goals. Nigeria started strong and scored in the first 20 minuues of the game, scoring another goal minutes after the first. You are just the one underestimating the strength of the Super Eagles in this tournament, those countries you are mentioning deep down they are scared of meeting the Super Eagles. Out of those countries you mentioned it is only Algeria that has maintained a perfect start to the tournament so far, others have dropped points in games they should have won. If they were that good as you are making them look they would have won all their matches. Have you asked those countries and they tell you that they want to face the Super Eagles? Those countries are scared of facing the Eagles and am just hoping we will meet them so we will clear your doubts.

Morocco, Egypt and Nigeria are definitely favourite teams to win but mentioned by many it's never been easy to predict about winning in AFCON where things are never been on right way today few big teams are going to make their way for the round of 8 even few matches are easy, but any team can go for the upset.

Ivory Coast v Burkina Faso is also one of the match where any team can go through even bookies having Ivory Coast favourite but Burkina Faso is also having good performance and their results are also good in last few games last four games with more exciting games are going to be played in quarterfinals because all teams are having good competitiveness, and they can go for the surprises.

It’s very difficult to predict which team will win the Afcon, many teams are doing well right now, six teams has qualified for the quarterfinals. The bookies considered South Africa among the favorites team to win the Afcon, and they has been eliminated by Cameroon, but remember that Algeria also won three of their three matches in the group stage, after Nigeria, they were the second team to win their three group stage matches, I believe they are among the favorites teams to win the tournament as well.

Ivory Coast vs Burkina Faso will be an interesting match to watch tonight, both teams have a chance to qualify to the next round. The bookies favor Ivory Coast to win, but this is a serious game that Ivory Coast might end up losing the match. My prediction for this match is BTTS, but I am not picking a favorite to win.

You see, no matter how much of a talent that you have, if you do not have a good character and you are not ready to work on it, it is going to curse you far more ruin that you can ever imagine. On a normal day, this is suppose to be one of those games we should celebrate considering how coordinated the team is but unfortunately, as a big player, he failed in controlling his emotions regardless of how much angry he feels.

As an attacker, there is nothing wrong showing annoyance when you are not getting as much pass as you expect, it is understandable to express anger but when you almost take it physical at your team mate that gave you some assist in same game, it becomes a big course of concern. if he had stayed in the game till the end, maybe we would have scored more goal and likely, he could even pick up the man of the match award. hopefully, they get to settle this real good in the dressing room so it does not in any way affect them in their next fixture.

Nigeria is the first team to score four goals in a match at the Afcon this year, if you follow African football you know how difficult it is to score four goals in a match at the Afcon. I wanted to see an Osimhen hattrick but the coach wanted to protect him for the upcoming quarter finals.
Nigeria should win Mozambique but this match will send a message to who ever will be facing Nigeria in the quarterfinals between Algeria and Congo.

Super Eagles are at their best in this AFCON, now after four games they are having 12 goals while they conceded only 4 goals their attack is one of the best with now their defense is also doing impressive job first game where they score 4 goals and conceded no goal.

Mozambique was some hyped on social media, but things have never been on their side they were completely out by Super Eagles Lookman and Osimhen were at their best, and they started their job too early in this game which keep them on track for having their best result of this event, now they are waiting their opponent for the quarterfinal which could be most probably Algeria because they are also looking at their best in this event.

In some way you could be right, I just checked their opponents they have faced of late, and I see Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique not so much of an opposition if we are to be truthful!

But the stage we have got to, I think the last result should give them confidence to face whoever will be next but it will be a bumpy road going forward because competition just got real!!

It will be sad to see them packing just after winning big Otherwise they have the firepower upfront!

Tunisia is a strong team as far as African football is concerned, and when they played against Tanzania, which Jostern rates as an easy opponent for the super eagles of Nigeria, Tunisia could not beat Tanzania; they played 1:1 draw. Also, when Tanzania played against Morocco in the play offs stage of the Afcon tournament, Morocco managed to beat Tanzania by 1:0, and if not that Tanzania was denied a penalty, the Morocco and Tanzania game could have been decided in extra time or a penalty shootout. Jostern is just disappointed with the super eagles of Nigeria failing to qualify for the world cup, and it has made him not to see anything good in the super eagles of Nigeria.

Haba, for goodness sake, let's appreciate and support our own(Super Eagles) for once(they are fantabulous). We must not always downplay their efforts so far in the  AFCON tournament, to remain unbeaten with good goal margins against their opponents. Look at South Africa, they were kicked out by the Cameroon team on Sunday. Did you think of that, could happen to the South Africa team? One thing about football currently, no team is to be look down less because they can give unexpected surprises.

That being said, we are looking forward to seeing the Super Eagles face off against either Algeria or DR Congo. Today's match between Algeria vs DR Congo will tell the team the Super Eagles will face off next.

I will continue to underestimate the Nigerian Super Eagles because they’re not convincing to me, if they’re good enough they should’ve qualified for the FIFA World Cup which is the biggest stage in Football history, this country’s that I have mentioned are the strongest teams in Africa and they’re all at the FIFA World Cup Finals that is what makes them good enough, Tournaments aren’t about winning all your games in the group stages, Last nations Cup which Ivory Coast won they came out as best losers and beat Nigeria in the Finals, If Nigeria meets the same Ivory Coast again they will still beat Nigeria, I haven’t seen a good performance in this Nigeria team, they’re only lucky to meet teams that are not good that came as passengers in the Nations Cup.

We should not be justifying rubbish for God's sake. Osimhen is already used to this childish attitude because he feels like demigod who's beyond criticism. The Super eagle were leading comfortably in the match and there was no need for such public embarrassment he caused the team and the country at large. Besides, he already scored two goals and Lookman provided both assists so I don't understand what the fuse was all about. Asking the coach to substitute him and leaving the stadium before his teammates without even the handshake was the height of it. Nobody is important than anybody and he should be punished for that lack of discipline and professionalism he usually exhibits even if it means benching him in the next match. I don't care if Nigeria loses, with or without him the team shall remain.

Nigeria beat Mozambique 4–0. It was a very easy match for Nigeria, they dominated the game and won comfortably. Nigeria are one of the favorites of the Africa Cup of Nations and their squad is really strong.
Osimhen scored 2 goals and Lookman had a great match with 1 goal and 2 assists.

Galatasaray need Osimhen, but if Nigeria keep going like this, it looks like he won’t be back until they reach the final.

Galatasaray will have to wait after final before they will see Victor Osimhen because i don't think there is an country that can stop Nigeria not to play final.
The Super Eagles are doing well they never perform this way during the world cup qualifier if they had put such effort they would have qualify, they dominated Mozambique yesterday and won 4-0 Victor Osimhen and Lookman scored two goals each whick was lovely and i don't think any African country has the kind of players Nigeria have so i will say we have already won the African cup of Nation title.

I do not see the super eagles of Nigeria being kicked out of the Afcon tournament soon, and it is likely the super eagles of Nigeria will get to the finals of the Afcon tournament, so Galatasaray will have to exercise a little patient before Victor Osimhen can return back to the Turkish league. The super eagles of Nigeria's performance in the ongoing Afcon tournament is impressive and commendable. They are the only team in the Afcon tournament that has not lost a match, and that is a good sign because it means they can win the Afcon tournament if they maintain their unbeaten run.

Well said, the reason we all love the greatest of footballers are  there attitude and character on the pitch, as a good sportsman you are meant to be able to carry yourself on the pitch. I was hyping on the fact that I wanted Osimhen to be the captain, but last match tantrum made me rethink that thought. Guess Ndidi is the right choice.

It's really unprofessional of him to react that way. What reasons do you have to act that way towards your teammates? You don't pay him and just like you he is also an attacker that loves to score so he is not obligated to pass every ball to you. Even if the end result is poor Osimhen has no right to challenge him that way. Osimhen feels too big in the national team thinking the team's victory must be through him which is not so all players are there to help the team in their own way. Lookman has been as important for the national team as Osimhen and by now I expect them to work together instead of picking fights. It seems like since Lookman won the African best player Osimhen is not impressed and maybe he feels challenged that he will take all the glory from him.

In games like this after scoring twice the attitude was uncalled for, same Lookman assisted your goal and he has always done that since joining the team. A game you are already winning like 3 - 0 it should be all smiles and not getting furious at each other. Osimhen is to be blamed.

As a typical Nigerian, we always falls in love with someone with good characters, someone that is well behaved when in public space no matter what, but in reality, everyone cannot behave perfectly well because we all have a different upbringing, and even someone that have a godly upbringing can still react in a despicable manner just because he lost his cool.
The react of victor osimhen was bad and should be condemned, but that doesn't mean that lookman refusal to release the ball knowing fully well that victor osimhen was seeking for a hatrick is good either.
I just hope that his reaction ends on the field of play, and it doesn't affect the unity of the team going forward.

Oh you remembered that Nigeria got to the final of the last AFCON, yet you are saying that they are not strong. Where were all those teams you mentioned in the last AFCON that Nigeria got to the final? Ivory coast won but you should know that they hosted the last AFCON and they had the home advantage which I believed helped them to a great extent in lifting the last Nations cup. If that match was played in a neutral ground they wouldn't have won us. You know how Africa football is, most times the home nation always win especially if both teams that are playing are almost of the same strength. The Super Eagles might not qualify for the FIFA world cup but that doesn't mean we are a small fry in Africa. Before our players picked form alot of damage has been caused to the team by our former manager George Finidi. He was having issues with our top players like Victor Osimhen and wasn't inviting him to the team. Let's not pretend like we were not aware of the happenings back then. If the team wasn't having problems back then we would have qualified for the world cup from the group stages.

Football is a game of passion and team mates do argue when they feel things didn't go their way. Osimhen wanted to score hat trick yesterday, he was frustrated because he felt LookMan didn't pass the ball to him to complete his hat trick yesterday. They are professionals and they will hug it out. The coach and the team management already got the issue under control. Only teams that want more argues, even in club sides team mates argues and it normal in football.

Super eagles must meet one of this country and if they win they will still meet another one of them again on the semi finals, however I hate when the team is beginning to try and they're creating a misunderstanding that should have not brought arguments within two players, no matter who was at the fault they're meant to ignore it or probably ran towards were coaches are and informed there coach his concern and how unhappy he is feeling about it so that by the time the ball will go or when there is an opportunity the coach will talk to the player so that other countries wouldn't be hearing there voices in the field, Osimhen and Lookman are the two who was arguing because of pass.

Well guy the super eagles guys really made my day honestly speaking when I such their at some point i was wondering if they could win the game completely but it came to an end with a good result for the super eagles guys all thank to their hard work and experience not even minding what there are passing through from the NFF this show that there are the bigger boys, Ademola Lookman was really on top of his best shoots today this shows that they are perfectly capable to win the game for this season, well but on a second thought this happened last years when the super eagles made us believe in them well at the end it was a rig game…

We were really impressed by the Eagles' performance and we must continue this trend. The goal scored by Ademola Lookman in the 20th minute with a great shot from Akor Adams' assist was really amazing. And five minutes later, Victor Osimhen scored the second goal for the team with an assist from Akor Adams and from then on, Mozambique was basically disappointed. Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams later scored a goal each and Nigeria won 4-0.

Interestingly, many are comparing Ademola Lookman with Antonio Di Natale after seeing his two assists and one goal and his performance on the field.

Any chance that Egypt and Algeria won't make it to the semis? I haven't watched either play at all, but they seem far too good to lose, so the only way they eliminate is penalties, right?

Asking for myself as I'm too lazy/unavailable to watch and need to know if the upstarts are capable of preventing these guys from a semi appearance.

We never can really tell, football games can sometimes be so so unpredictable, just as I believe many of us were not able to predict that the Mali v Tunisia match will end in both team having to go through penalties to see who leaves the pitch after having played 120 minutes with 1 : 1 as score from both sides.

I may have watched Egypt play a couple of times but you know, each match have its own uniqueness and this may be because the team is playing a different team and not the team they played with the other time, this is why a team like Egypt (using them as an example) can win against this team and lose against another, so its hard predicting what will be the outcome of the Egypt v Benin game coming up by 17:00 pm, only the final whistle blown knows what the outcome will be but unfortunately, whistles don't talk, so we can't ask it 😁

Yeah, tell me about football, precisely why I asked. Football in general is a low-scoring, low predictability, and highly ungameable... game. This thread has had 5 new pages of posts since I asked, and you were the only one who responded... I would have expected more experts to chime in.

This is why Nigeria is not developing, Because when we see dirty characters we don't condemn it immediately, I see people saying Osimhen was showing passion, what kid of dirty passion was that, what Osimhen did was very wrong and he should be disciplined for his bad behavior, they were already ahead for the game, so I don't see the frustration that made him to talk down on his Lookman that's even better then him, all the goals Osimhen has scored so far look assisted him, but he want to bring division in the team with his bad character.

It's high time, we discipline bad behavior in our society for others to learn, he should be benched in our next game, the team will still win without him, the only he does is to score goals, lookman do the working and the assist.

Cameroon have special soccer momentum and they are an opponent to be taken seriously in this AFCON!
Cameroon bouncing back and winning in the end of the match was phenomenal, and also credit to Mozambiuqe for their effort, but their effort was nullified by the guy who scored an unbelievable own goal that ruined their chances of dominating the game into the next round.
They also started off early against south Africa and secured 2 goals for a win, until bafana was able to equalize with just enough to keep their goals counting.

Ademola Lookman was really on top of his best shoots today this shows that they are perfectly capable to win the game for this season, well but on a second thought this happened last years when the super eagles made us believe in them well at the end it was a rig game…

What do you mean rigged! my friend, are you saying we were denied the finals by one thing or the other. The last final of the AFCON was totally fine, Ivory Coast were the better team throughout and they won it free and fair. The boys played well until that final but they didn’t fight for the trophy on that day, maybe tired legs but that’s no excuse.

Ademola Lookman, Iwobi, and Osimhen seem to be combining well. I hope Osimhen has not messed that up with the very unproffessional attitude towards Lookman for not passing the ball that one time to him. Osimhen needs to get his attitude in check; that is not the attitude a world-class striker of his caliber should be having. No big team will want that in their dressing room.

I don't know if it was this forum or the other one that someone said Osimhen cannot captain the Super Eagles, and I tend to agree with that statement. Osimhen is hotheaded, and his attitude was unprofessional. The three goals he has scored in the tournament, it was Lookman who set him up, and he didn't need to react that way because Lookman failed to pass to him. Even after the match, he couldn't wait to exchange greetings with his teammates, opponents, and match officials. He just walked straight into the dressing room. Clearly, he's still angry, and that's really bad.

Victor Osimhen is who he says or think he is, he’s also a captain material 100%, He shouts for his players he also encourages them too, maybe he overdid it this time but I’m not sure he did he’s an emotional and passionate footballer. You see this kind of attitudes from players who wants to win all the time. The likes of Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Luis Suarez etc. not everyone can be as calm as Lionel Messi.
Moreover he has apologised afterwards and Lookman didn’t take it too serious, it’s all good in the team. Don’t stress it.
