This is the problem that I habe with these set of players in the Super Eagles. They have pride and ego which has been the reason for their downfall. Look at Osimhen because he played with a weak team and was scoring easy goals, he's raising up his shoulders as if only him can play the match and score without anyone assist.

In other games apart from this competition, why didn't he show his ego when their opponents use to trash them. Osimhen should hide his face and go back to Turkey if he wants. Who cares.

He was aspiring to score 6 goals since the team is weak, besides, his action has caused Nigerians not to jubilate for the supposed victory, the team should be focusing on the quarterfinals maybe with Congo, but a huge distraction has set in due to Osihmen's ill behavior. However, Adam Akor whose mom is ill has left the camp to nurse the mother, hopefully he'd be back before their next game, also quick recovery to the mother.

For this first half, the match was quite boring because both teams had difficulty creating chances into each other's goals, or maybe because this is a life and death match so both teams are very careful, but I think it is likely that this first half will be closed without a goal, I hope they increase the intensity of the game, after all it is not interesting if the match goes like this.

Well said, the reason we all love the greatest of footballers are  there attitude and character on the pitch, as a good sportsman you are meant to be able to carry yourself on the pitch. I was hyping on the fact that I wanted Osimhen to be the captain, but last match tantrum made me rethink that thought. Guess Ndidi is the right choice.

The reason we Nigerians excel is because we don't overlook bad actions because things are going great. Osimhen should learn how to control his emotions because he is suppose to be the face of the Nigerian team for a very long time.

This is why Nigeria is not developing, Because when we see dirty characters we don't condemn it immediately, I see people saying Osimhen was showing passion, what kid of dirty passion was that, what Osimhen did was very wrong and he should be disciplined for his bad behavior, they were already ahead for the game, so I don't see the frustration that made him to talk down on his Lookman that's even better then him, all the goals Osimhen has scored so far look assisted him, but he want to bring division in the team with his bad character.

It's high time, we discipline bad behavior in our society for others to learn, he should be benched in our next game, the team will still win without him, the only he does is to score goals, lookman do the working and the assist.

Dr Congo and Algeria are two good side and it's quite funny if any one thinks Dr Congo  is the less competitive team in this game when they are being more aggressive in the game their first half. Both teams have almost same rating in the competition and their performance has been so impressive so in their game it's going to be difficult they might end up going through the penalties but with what happened in the first 45 minutes Dr Congo looks like they have the upper hand to win the game if they can control more of the ball in the second half and also push more attacks.

Nigeria really outplayed their opponents to the extent of restricting them to no corners at all, not sure if Mozambique actually got any opportunity to register a shot on target because they were that ruthless!!

I see the Galatasary man Victor Osimhen was showing his worth to the world which was nice to see.. am backing the boys to get into the finals as I liked what I saw., but not any easy road going forward.

Nigeria was quite outstanding in that game. I believed they could come out with the win in that game but I didn't envisage that number of goals. Nigeria started strong and scored in the first 20 minuues of the game, scoring another goal minutes after the first. I particularly liked that Nigeria played well and didn't conceive any goal in return. I knew Mozambique wouldn't be that much of a threat to Nigeria but I had thought they could manage to score a goal.
Nigeria had a really good performance and was rewarded with 4 goals. Really amazing performance from the lads.

I don’t think this Super Eagles team are outstanding, because they’ve not really played a very good opponent, all the games they have played are games they’re meant to win on paper, When was the last time have we seen this Super Eagles team running a riot against an opponent that should tell you that this game was already lost before it was played, I’m still yet to be convinced about the Nigeria Super Eagles, I’m waiting when they will play DR Congo or Algeria, Senegal, Morocco, Egypt, this are team that I’m waiting for the Super Eagles to play against and if they come out Victorious then I will have to be convinced that they are a good team.

I will never be impressed by Nigeria Super Eagles for not qualifying for the World Cup.

Let's look at this AFCON, sincerely, they are really playing well. I have managed to watch just one of there games, and that's the game against Tunisia. They really played well. With the way they played, am not afraid of anything. For me, I believe that team can win any team and will always be threat to other countries. There strength, style of play, finishing and wingers are just okay. The Tunisia game wasn't just a walk over match for any other country, but the super Eagles played them like they were learning football, and I enjoyed there play. Anyways, like you said, let see them play in the quarter finals and if they win, to the semi finals where they will play stronger opponents, there and then we will test there credibility very well.. but for now, they are just good

At the end of first half, both the teams are having defensive strategy which never allowed them to have good chance of scoring goals, Algeria was expected to be more open but due to tight defensive strategy form DR Congo never allowing them to take any advantage.

Bore first half has nothing to talk, but now it's going to be interesting second half, this will give some entertainment because both teams are on same level with Congo is playing pressure free game, this will give them advantage in second half while Algeria being some favourite still have to prove their strength with if they fail, surely this is going to be setback for them, they are having 3 wins out of 3 games.

Victor Osimhen of the Nigerian super eagle is such a player that cannot be avoided at least for now, they could have gone so far to the next stage as they can't play without having much dependency on him, being a team,  it's such a pity that the Nigerian super eagle cannot go far and deliver as expected without playing with Victor, while it's also a challenge to other players to be able to fill in the gap and take up the challenge, new breeds are coming to do more better and things cannot be the same as always.

Right now in the competition there are small teams especially in this round, it's going to be a balanced game for both sides because none of the teams would be regarded as underdogs, Algeria has a good team with a very interesting attacking line whereas DR Congo is a physical team that can defend and also attack simultaneously so it's going to be a game of chance and only the better side would progress to the next round.

You are just the one underestimating the strength of the Super Eagles in this tournament, those countries you are mentioning deep down they are scared of meeting the Super Eagles. Out of those countries you mentioned it is only Algeria that has maintained a perfect start to the tournament so far, others have dropped points in games they should have won. If they were that good as you are making them look they would have won all their matches. Have you asked those countries and they tell you that they want to face the Super Eagles? Those countries are scared of facing the Eagles and am just hoping we will meet them so we will clear your doubts.

I will continue to underestimate the Nigerian Super Eagles because they’re not convincing to me, if they’re good enough they should’ve qualified for the FIFA World Cup which is the biggest stage in Football history, this country’s that I have mentioned are the strongest teams in Africa and they’re all at the FIFA World Cup Finals that is what makes them good enough, Tournaments aren’t about winning all your games in the group stages, Last nations Cup which Ivory Coast won they came out as best losers and beat Nigeria in the Finals, If Nigeria meets the same Ivory Coast again they will still beat Nigeria, I haven’t seen a good performance in this Nigeria team, they’re only lucky to meet teams that are not good that came as passengers in the Nations Cup.

Where were all those teams you mentioned in the last AFCON that Nigeria got to the final? Ivory coast won but you should know that they hosted the last AFCON and they had the home advantage which I believed helped them to a great extent in lifting the last Nations cup. If that match was played in a neutral ground they wouldn't have won us. You know how Africa football is, most times the home nation always win especially if both teams that are playing are almost of the same strength. The Super Eagles might not qualify for the FIFA world cup but that doesn't mean we are a small fry in Africa. Before our players picked form alot of damage has been caused to the team by our former manager George Finidi. He was having issues with our top players like Victor Osimhen and wasn't inviting him to the team. Let's not pretend like we were not aware of the happenings back then. If the team wasn't having problems back then we would have qualified for the world cup from the group stages.

I think you shouldn't waste your time and energy in trying to convince Jostern that the Super Eagles is a strong team and they are actually performing well in the African Cup of Nations. Since Jostern said that he will keep underestimating the strength of the Super Eagles in the African Cup of Nations, there's nothing you will say to him that will make him agree with you that the Super Eagles are actually performing well in the African Cup of Nations.

People traveled all the way from Nigeria to celebrate you and you just walk away from the fans, that's bad.

He is good but Osimhen need proper management, this was the same reason Napoli gave him a bad treatment but we were with him, even in Galatassaray this is what he does but because we loves him so much, do we have to allow this behavior in our national team. He once had a heated argument with a coach one time, I can recall what happened that time but he is into this for long time and he need to be tamed. He doesn't love Nigeria more than we the fans.

I never expected Egypt to lose to Benin, and I'm sure almost all of us here had that belief. So I applaud Nigeria big time because it would've been a different story if they lost to Mozambique.

so far from my experienceed with Nigeria in this tournament yesterday match was their best game that I have watched, because only Nigeria have scored four goals in a single game in this tournament. There's a lot of improvement in their game, which is enough to trust them against any big team.

Tanzania was a strong team this Afcon, Morocco found it hard to win them, Tunisia is not the only strong team Nigeria has faced in this Afcon, in Africa the underdogs can swing differently when you don’t expect them to.
Egypt did not lose to Benin , the game was draw at full time and Egypt score two goals in extra time.
Nigeria played well and their next opponent is not yet know because Algeria and Congo are going to extra time.

What you said is actually happening. The both teams have played 120 minutes without a winner. It seem the strength are equal, none of them is considered as an underdog or the favorite side to win here. However, one team must win, no matter how they  performed, and when it comes to penalty shoot out, I believe it is out of luck any team win. The most pressing team might win in the penalty shoot out or they may lose because luck is what is depended when the game gets to the penalty shootout.

I really need to commend the Super eagle's effort in this year's AFCON tournament, they have been really impressive in their last games this tournament, they don't have any single draw nor have they lost any game, they have been winning all their games from the day 1 of this tournament and if they continue like this they will definitely be the African champion and I believe with this their form they can do it. Let's win this guys!

It was a great performance from the Super Eagles. The game went smoothly, with no struggling at all, and I just hope the Nigerian team can continue with a performance like this. Osimhen performed very well, but one thing I won't agree with him on is that he needs to understand how to handle things without showing much temper or being aggressive.

I know Lookman has his own faults that can affect the team, but I think Osimhen should be able to handle it in a better way. His quick temper may affect his career in the future, and international clubs won't want to accept a player like him.

The match was actually very tough for both countries as predicted. The match actually ended in a goaless draw. Algeria and DR Congo battled it out and none gave out anything. Algeria finally got the breakthrough in the added extra time when we all thought the match was going to end in a draw and go straight to penalties but in the 119 minutes Algeria got their breakthrough as A. Boulbina struck and broke the heart of the DR Congo fans. Now Algeria will face the Super Eagles in the Next round.

Algeria won in extra time as full time ended 0-0. I never expected the match to drag to that extent, it was a match I almost bet Algeria to win if not that I changed my mind much later after realizing there were better matches in Qatar and Myanmar which are high probability bets than the AFCON fixture. I'm a little disappointed in Algeria because they had clear advantage in the match but they missed all of them. They are just lucky to have escaped DR Congo today.

This game was intensely tough, maybe even tougher than the Egypt vs Benin game..Algeria was able to somehow dominate the game but DR Congo didn’t allow they score, I thought they will need to decide the qualifying team by a penalty shootout but surprisingly Algeria was able to score at the 119th minute, minutes from full time. Well your prediction was right, the first half did end in a draw, not just the first half the second half also ended in a draw, the winning goal came in the extra time.


The Ivory Coast vs Burkina Faso game has started and a Burkina Faso defender has pulled a yellow card just 5 minutes into the game, well I won’t say anything about this game, I’ll let time tell.
