On Saturday, 6th of September, Nigeria would face Rwanda in our World Cup qualifying match. The first leg in Rwanda, ended in a 2-0 victory for the Super Eagles, that is sadly our only victory in the qualifiers so far.

That said, what are your score predictions for this match? The venue is the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, and i am sure the stadium will be filled to capacity, with fans cheering on the Super Eagles. It is a must-win game, if we fail to win, we can kiss our chances of playing in the 2026 WC goodbye. My prediction is a 2-0 victory for the Super Eagles, same result as the first leg away from home.

As usual, the gate will be wide open for fans to troop in and support the Super Eagles. If not for the free entry, I guess many Nigerians would not want to waste their resources to go and watch a team that has been disappointing us. As a Nigerian, I will give them full support, at least let them keep fighting till the end. But my expectations a low because the Nigerian side is not at its best. My predictions is 3-0 in favour of the Super Eagles.   

I so much love how they arrange this particular game between the Super Eagles of Nigeria vs Rwanda, making it free and we all know how many of these kind do end, always end in favor of Nigeria. But is painful to know that the 2nil against these guys Rwanda is the only win we have had in this qualifiers and now is going to be difficult for the Eagles because Rwanda are ready to hold on to a draw since they know that the Super Eagles are going to be under pressure and even the fans can't help in any way except the Eagles start making the game hard for the visitors by not allowing them hang on the ball for more than 30secs, instead let the pressure be on them [Rwanda], getting an early goal to shut the visitors up, that will help and is not about the fans crowding the stadium that will help this time around, the ball game have changed completely.

I think it is going to be a 4-0 victory for Gabon, Gabon beat Seychelles 3-0 in the first leg, so i think this time they will go one goal better. Gabon are doing very well in group F, and have won 5 out of the 6 games they have played so far, whilst Seychelles are the whipping boys in that group and have lost 6 out of 6 games played, lol.

@CryptopreneurBrainboss, i was spot on with my prediction as the game actually ended 4-0 in favor of Gabon, maybe i should have gambled on the correct scores and won some money, lol. Gabon now sit top of group F, though having played one game more than Ivory Coast in second position, it is so tough in that group, can't wait to see who gets the ticket.

Glad to see another African national in this thread that's not a Nigerian. Your country Mozambique is doing very well in group G, you guys are on 12 points, only 3 behind Algeria. It would be hard to topple Algeria and take top spot, but anything is possible. Goodluck against Uganda tomorrow.

Since my country's football federation has already said that qualifying for the World Cup is not their main priority, that their main goal was the African Cup of Nations, which has already been achieved, I don't expect the players to put in much effort in the game against Uganda.

It would be great to qualify for both, but i understand what you mean. Mozambique is in a very tough group in the AFCON 2025, starting on the 21st of December. You guys are in the same group as Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Gabon, i am certain that is the group of death. Good Luck, but it'll be hard to make it to the knockout phase.

Apart from experience and good skill of coaching this is another reason foreign coach are also good especially the football system that is based on high connection as determinants of the chance for the person to play even when the person do not matched better than others so actually that is what foreign coaches prevent on national clubs. Although I don't no if this was the case behind a foreigner coaching our national team but however the coach before him that was Nigerian didn't actually examine this players without selecting the merited ones. I wonder how many coach that would try their ability in super eagles before they would find a compatible coach.

Is very good actually but is that really the way forward?,  as big as this country they cannot trust a coach who will not corrupt if they become one, we cannot always depend on foreign people when we can make it better with the same condition they would have giving in the club. However in terms of how a foreign coach will react on when some high speakers would want there decision to prevail, indeed a foreign coach who hold there career tight wouldn't compromise for anything but another problem he could face is gang up because if they have a way to cut shot his stay in the club they would do that to stop him from intercepting.

I just laughed reading this. You would be very shocked that there is no difference between the foreign coach and the  home based or local grown coach. Corruption and corrupt practices have no respect for skin color or nationality, or level of experience. Corruption must be dealt with at the system and structural level. We must start dealing with corruption from the Nigerian football federation if we want to see any tangible change.

You are making a point here, if progress must be achieved in the Nigerian Football federation, corruption must be dealt with irrespective of who the coaches are. Be it a local or foreign coach, they must be independent on their decision and should not be influenced by the power's that be in the industry otherwise they would still be dragging feet everywhere and nothing to show forth for their stay as the head coach of the Super Eagles.

You don't compare the intensity and competition in men's football to that of women's football where the worst team in men's football can wholly overpower the best women's team. In the women's football tournaments there are many weak teams giving the team with an upper edge a leverage for complete dominance.

This gives no excuse for the super eagles in their poor place in Africa football presently cause this super eagles are a disappointment that they have played five matches won one and drawn 4. A poor record in the qualifiers. Imagine they having a hard time qualifying, what will happen when they get to the world cup tournament, it may be worse of what we have now.

He hasn't been in action for quite sometime now with his club since he was to make a move to Inter who showed interest with other EPL clubs but the deal to make a move collapsed and I wonder if the coach of the Super Eagles will still include him, because we have some other guys who have been battling since the beginning of the season who can take his spot, is it wise to start Ademola Lookman ahead of the others who have been in action in the clash against Rwanda?

Dude you can attribute this to poor decisions that's has to do with poor management, just take a close look at our coach, do you think his decisions most times are not influenced, you should also consider something about our international player that comes anytime we have match to play hep the behave, the system is bulshit, everyone behave the way want to and that's because they management are made up of mainly politicians not real sports men, there's difference between being a business man and a sports person, so don't feel too bad about the whole drama, the more serious people have more trophy than big men in the football field, just get the point.

With all that have happened I believe he can't be as sharp as he was the last time they played as a team for the Super Eagles. All these things I mean the transfer saga has a way of killing the fighting spirit or should I say the mentality of a certain player, although not all who feels that way but Lookman has gone through a lot and this may affect him and again it all depends on how he choose to hand it.
If he wasn't seen in any of the videos you watched it maybe that he hasn't arrived yet but he was invited for sure. If that be the case I think he should start from the bench and let the other guys start the game, like we know...the coach has the final say on weather he'll start or not and he had to be 100% fit fornthis encounter.

I also didn't know that we have other Africans besides Nigerians in the forum. Glad to know that Slow death is an African. Mozambique has a solid team, but their lapses are in defense. Letting in ten goals in six matches shows some deficiency in the back line. Losing heavily against Algeria was a big blow but the Mambas still have the chance to qualify if they keep winning games and hope that Algeria drops points.

I dont agree with you. This is what they have made us believe, but deep down there are better coaches in the NPL that can coach the Super Eagles but personal appointment, favoritism and man know man wont let them appoint the best man for the job. I wont forget Stephen Keshi, he was one of the best African coach at that time. The Super eagles won the 2013 AFCON competition under Steven Keshi and they also progressed far during the World Cup.

Except for the late coach Christian Chukwu and late Steven keshi whom I think were the only two indigenous coaches who have successfully led the Super Eagles without much controversies. I do not think there has been any other who has really done well with the Eagles, but whenever we acquire the services of a foreign coach we seem to be getting more results not because of the expertise of the coach but because everybody tends to play with much zeal putting in more than 100% effort because the foreign coach is no respecter of anybody.

Slow death has been with us for a very long time. I noticed him 2023 when he mentioned his country of origin in this defunct thread. But I have not heard from others and I strongly believed there are Ghanaians in this forum and they have had not revealed themselves, I don't know if other people know some other African personnels in the forum but I don't.
Mozambique is an another African team that suffering defeat. Algeria is a big team in Africa football games. And Mozambique can't withstand with them.

Gabon  beat Seychelles 4-0 in Group F yesterday. And it was a good performance from Gabon side of the match. And they are on the top of the Group F Table.

This is a clash the super eagles needs to win if they want to keep their hopes of qualifying in the World Cup alive. Nigeria have always find it difficult in beating Rwanda, their last 4 fixtures have been 2 draw and each side win 1 each. The last time Rwanda visited Nigeria they won 1-2 so this time around the super eagles need to deliver on home soil.

I don’t think Ademola lookman will start or even be part of the match on Saturday, there are played who have been actively playing in the club side so they deserve to start ahead of someone who have not play in a competitive football for months. Lookman is a key player in the squad but i think it going to be difficult for the coach to make the decision to start him over others.

I’m really anticipating this fixture because Rwanda are a very tricky side and they really need at least a point to keep their qualifying hopes alive. Nigeria need nothing but 3 points so both countries have a lot to fight for.

Truely poor decisions and indecisions of the super eagles coach resonates to their poor performance, the choice of players been influenced by the NFF and others always have a side effect on the team, from the way the boys play sometimes I wonder if they do ha prep before they play because most times you see greed, selfishness and disunity in the play pattern everybody wants to score a goal let it be in their name but the female players are not like that, I  see love, unity, passion, zeal and team spirit and the way they play you could sense that they are very cooperative and I believe this has been the reasons they always emerge successful in any outting they go but the reverse is always the case for the super eagles.

We are saying the same thing now. I actually dragged your attention to coaches who did well with the Super Eagles and you agreed with me before you write them off since you previously said only the white coaches are qualified to manage the team. Well, you shouldn't be expecting that all the individual NPL coaches should do well, when they become the Super Eagle coach. Even the well known football countries dont usually perform that good. Only few and its because if the quality of players they have in the squad.

Results from the CAF world cup qualifiers the biggest surprise for me is Ghana drawing a chad because a win would have qualified for the world cup and Ghana scored early in this game but failed to maintain their leads they conceided a late goal to level things up in Chad.

Victor Boniface was not called up for this international break this is not unconnected to his present state as you know he is not too fit as he failed a medical in AC Milan even though he made a final minute move to weirder Bremen , I don't think that he is too fit for this crucial world cup qualifiers so the coach did the right thing by not calling him up for this games.

We need to understand that male football is more competitive than female football and from time the super falcons have always been top in Africa. This is not making excuse for our super eagles but the competition is much tougher. Many teams are as good as the super eagles some are even better. Remember that in the last AFCON super eagles performed well so they are not too bad. Although I understand that the NFF management and some players are not living up to expectations but they can get better.

I don't think Ademola Lookman is in a right state of mind to feature in this game, what ATALANTA is doing to him, will definitely demoralize him for the entire season. A player who has requested to leave, just the way the likes of Alexander isak did to Newcastle and they allowed him to go, why is Ademola's own turning to a bad rift between him and Atalanta. This was almost the same scenario Victor Osimhen faced we Napoli, were the club deliberately frustrated his moves to leave the club to another.
