African Football Discussion Thread Current Topic: 👉 World Cup Qualifiers.

This has always being our fate, this guys can't just make us quailfiy for competitions without us having to calculate,. After our very fist losses, I just knew this guys will put us in confusion mode. I still believe though that the super eagles can get something from the remaining games and then we hope on faith to do it for us. I haven't being following up the matches though but can someone do some calculations for me. Lets assume the other opposition that we have lose only one game and thn the super egales were to win all their remaining features, is there a chance for we to qualify or we won't still qualify?.

Judging from their last performance against Rwanda am not really convinced that these guys can stun the South African team on their home soil but let's give them the benefit of the doubt because this is football and in football miracles do happen even though it's not feasible to me, and a miracle is what we need precisely because the teams efforts hasn't produced the required results so let's keep hoping that something good would come out of this encounter.

South Africa as already with 16 points currently and they shouldn't be our problem but Benin who are with 11 points, that's 1 points ahead of Nigeria that is currently on 10 points. So in the next game we should hope Benin lose while Nigeria work it hard to win South Africa to stay 2 points above Benin in order that we can go to second position directly behind South Africa. All this will be decided on Tuesday, 9th September 2025.

Congo Vs Eritrea was supposed to hold today but I have been seeing the fixture as cancelled and I have been wondering why it happened. But I finally had to make some research but what I'm seeing like the reason is very appalling and does not speak well of Africa. Saying that Eritrea withdrew due to the government fear that players may flee during their away games Reason. Even though there has not been any official reports from FIFA, rumours claim that all the Eritrean matches were cancelled to avoid players escape due to bad governance currently ravaging the country now. I believe there's more to that news and until the appropriate bodies have released a statement, it's still a rumour for now. If anyone has a better explanation, please do well to comment.

In Lookman's case, permit me to say he was the only player that played the game like he'd do at his club side. All I'm saying is that this game against SA won't just be about bragging rights alone but a chance for Nigeria to close the gap the group leaders have over them.

what are your thoughts on a strong attacking style that delivers on more goals than what the super eagles of Nigeria are playing. Yesterday's match the opponent was not one of African top competitive football nations and Nigeria had to struggle to get one goal with Rwanda, how do you imagine it will be when they go against the next opponent South Africa that you have just admitted to be a very strong opponent that will be difficult for the super eagles to win. Pardon me but I'm judging the super eagles by their  past performance cause that is how analysis on a team's form is been made and not by next game we are unsure of what they can do.

In football, sometimes the most difficult teams to play against can be so easy to beat and the easy ones difficult to play against, we noticed it yesterday against Rwanda, Nigeria played beautifully but had it tough cause Rwanda parked the bus mostly thereby making tough for Nigerian attackers to create better chances and score more goals, remember they had several near misses too.

 You'll be suprised that the Super Eagles might easily win against South Africa, it's true that they're a good African football nation and they won't park the bus like Rwanda, they'll come out to score and maybe make it easier for the Super Eagles attackers, I just hope Victor Osimhen's injury isn't tough that he'll miss that match.

After my country Mozambique suffered a great humiliation in the last game against Uganda in which we lost and conceded 4 goals, in a game in which we did not score any goals, today we managed to win and score 2 goals



Knowing how crazy people are who run my country's football, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they had sold the game to Algeria. The way my country lost is very strange. The coach didn't put the team captain in and only announced this just one day before the game. This immediately raised a red flag in my head.

I could be wrong, but it's very obvious that the president of my country is in Algeria, and my country loses 4-0 and loses the chance to fight for qualification. My country's leaders are corrupt, bloodthirsty, and do everything for money. Those gentlemen never thought about the people.

I think our super falcons are even more confident in their matches than what the senior teams are doing and they are calling their self super eagles, is the eagle still flying or struggle to fly, in Africa today, I can boldly say it that Nigeria is not the best, while when rating for the best 3, they may hardly make it in, all these should be put into consideration because their confidence in their matches are diminishing gradually except they changed a lot about how they playing and regain back their lost fortune to stand strong among the other African countries.

There was an aggression against Osimhen that I think referee should have done better than that because his aiming wasn't on the ball and before he could reach Osimhen the ball was no longer there but he instead strike Osimhen leg that could have actually affected his kneel,

It was his ankle that was affected, and he was not happy about the tackle because he understands how important that game is for the Super Eagles and how important he is to the team.

As a result of the injury, Osimhen has not travelled with the Super Eagles team to South Africa and will be absent for that game.

I would like Eric Chelle to make Tolu, who scored the important goal for us in the first game, start as the marksman.

victor osimhen absence is actually a big setback for the super eagles of Nigeria. I do not also see the bafana bafana of South africa as a strong opponent that the super eagles of Nigeria cannot defeat. Judging by the records, in the last 10 encounters between Nigeria vs South Africa, Nigeria have always been the favorite here,our Super Eagles have won South africa 4 times while South africa were fortunate to have defeated the super eagles once. I think this match wouldn't be any different because our super eagles will eventually defeat South africa on that day.

Well you shouldn't be surprised man, alot of persons do that here. As for the game against South Africa I really don't know what to say although only the tension and pressure for Nigeria to win that game might propell them to win that even if Osimhen is absence in the game and starting Tolu might be an option for the coach to make since he was involved in the victory previous. Nigeria needs to win and base on the beef between the two nations I think south Africa themselves will very much like the opposite.

Indeed we need to be looking back to the replies on the thread before we make some posts, in fact we need to be current and also check some analysis before posting so that we will not be spamming this thread with posts that are not relevant.

Victor Osimhen got injured in the first half of Nigerian’s last game they won 1-0 against Rwanda, almost every football fan knows this and have already given up on him being among the squad to play against South Africa tomorrow.

 However, what we are supposed to discussion now is the possible players that could lead the team to victory because The Super Eagles of Nigeria really need to win this match in order to boost their chance of playing in the next World Cup. Hopefully, we can get it right of every other team played their games well because South Africa shouldn’t be a team we should be afraid of.

Victor oshimen is confirmed to miss tomorrow game against the bafana bafana of South Africa so this means that there is more problems for the super eagles of Nigeria because he is one of the most important players when it comes to the super eagles of Nigeria.


With the way that the super eagles of Nigeria perform against Rwanda am not too comfortable with what the super eagles will perform against the south Africans national team and with players like oshimen not there it will be difficult for the super eagles.

Big one coming tomorrow as Bafana bafana takes on the Super eagles of Nigeria, this is match that might define the fate of Group C. The super eagles though have a big blow as their star man victor Osimehn will be missing out in this fixture. Bafana Bafana playing at home is a big advantage for them and they won’t be playing with so much pressure because even if they lose tomorrow they won’t be losing their place as the leaders of the group. The super eagles on the other side will play with a lot of pressure and tension because if they lose tomorrow their hope in playing in the coming World Cup might be over.

Some people have concluded already that the super eagles won’t be qualifying for the World Cup.

With the squad the super eagles are having, struggling to win matches is just surprising to me. No African country is having the kind of squad the super eagles are having currently, and most of their players are playing in big clubs and they are performing so well, but when they playing for there country, everything is always different. I just hope they will be able to get a win against South Africa, but that’s just going to be difficult to achieve for them.

Back to the discussion between Nigeria vs South Africa,since Victor osimhen have been ruled out the game against South africa due to the injury he sustain in the previous match against Rwanda ,I think his absence is a big blow for his team as it may affect the chances of the Super Eagles defeating the bafana bafana of South africa. However I think with key players like Tolu Arokodare and ademola lookman in the team,Nigeria can still defeat South africa without Victor osimhen.

We can only pray and hope but I feel the eagles needs more the kind of play they have been on since  the race for the qualifications amd with the rumours of Osimhen been injured, that will be a bit one on the super eagles? I have not really confirmed how true though but the eagles needs more effort to help them soar high enough as the eagles that they are.

The players need be awakened because we cannot afford not to be in the World cup this time around, the first time it is hosted in multiple locations., a lot of reason are there for the Eagles to make sure they fly high up in the coming world cup.

I think you are placing too much importance on Osimhen; he is a good and important player for us, but we can still do without him in that game if they decide to play as a team. The beauty of the current Super Eagles team is that there are good alternatives in the team that the coach can choose from, unlike other African teams.

Congratulations to the Moroccan team; they are the only African team that has secured their World Cup spot.

Ghana won their game by a goal against Mali; they currently top their group.
