Congratulations to Morocco for winning the AFCON, it was well deserved, I’m a huge fan of people getting justice for misconduct, Senegal doesn’t deserve to be called African Champions because they are a disgrace to African football, they let African down and made a mess of themselves and African football for walking off the pitch and refusing to play, I’ve never seen anything like it in my entire life, it was good that justice was served, and other teams countries who would also have to do the same thing in future will have to learn about this verdict of the consequences of Senegalese actions, they brought this on themselves they have made a mess of themselves now they’re not African Champions anymore, because of a horrible decision of walking off the pitch for no reason because you feel the referee gave a penalty, and it was a clear and obvious penalty.

I’m very happy about this verdict, it was totally against the rules, to refuse playing and abandon the game for 10 minutes and refused playing, it was a very hilarious decision and it was unacceptable, I’m happy CAF have done the right thing, stripe them off the tittle so they will learn, and other teams should also learn from it.

Well there were some rules Senegal players on the field violated on the field by leaving the field in the midst of game and that is where the football body in Africa is holding on to remove the trophy from them but that is wrong and against the referee's decision because he didn't blew or end the game as they left the field but he still called them back and allowed Morocco to played their penalty thinking that Morocco would scored but they didn't and Senegal scored them when they replayed the game after the penalty and win the match and became the African Champion but CAF now giving back the trophy to Morocco because of the walked out. By law, CAF is wrong because the referee was the caused of everything.
Senegal didn't walked out from the pitch in their previous games and because of the corrupt nature of the referee in the match, Senegal moved out from the field.

You are on point and have asked a good question as a result. What about those who placed their bets in favor of the Senegal victory and have cashed out their wins, are they going to refund the money now because some courts or appeal board who are not even professional footballers just seating somewhere decided to make a ruling independently and singlehandedly re-award the trophy to a team which have been beaten by the other team already. if they had announced a rematch it would have made more reasonable sense to me but which one is they should return the trophy and hand it over to the Morocco team without even proposing a rematch or so. It is so boring for a serious football and a mess of the system in my view.

Same thing i thought about, or those who place a bet on Morocco to win the trophy, would they be refunded? I wonder why CAF didn't think about this before making such silly decision, like why are they trying to ruin football with politics, why would they even take months for such decision to be made, many questions needs answers from CAF.

A rematch should've been after the finals or days before some players leave Africa to play for their clubs. With this silly decision, I doubt if the AFCON would be taken seriously anymore.

What I still find annoying about all this is that if Senegal were to be punished, then they should have done so right after they walked out of the pitch, rather than waiting for 2 months or so... But like you said the referee let them back in and allowed the continuation of the match simply because they all thought that Morrocco would score the PK and be crowned victors, but that wasn't the case... And yeah if they are to punish anyone it is meant to be the referee since he was the one that allowed the continuation of the game...

2 months have gone by many people have even forgotten that AFCON was even being played, only for CAF to come with some silly verdict of the withdrawal of the title from Senegal and also still asking them to return the cup and medal... And I really can understand Senegal hesitation to return back the cup and medal because those guys really worked so hard for it...Mehn that's just a big blow to the whole country(Senegal) and not just to the team... The leaders are seen as people that are representing the interest of the entire Africa as a continent. What happened is disgraceful and there's no way they will just attribute it to the leaders alone.

i am urging African countries to stand with Senegal in this hard time and they should threatening CAF of boycotting all CAF competitions so that CAF will overturn their stupid decision of stripping Senegal the Afcon and give it to Morocco.

This is were I stand, football decision should end in the field and not in the court room. Africa countries need to stand up for Senegal because if they don't, the leaders will try this again with other nations in the future. Caf needed to organise another tournament and find out that no nation will honour it that's when they will know the degree of damage they have caused to African football. If that's what you call shamelessness then I'm in support of the Senegalese not to return the trophy. CAF should go and design another trophy for Morocco and give to them. CAF knew they had rules, they would have enforced the rule the day Senegal walked off the field, they never would have continued that match. They continuing that match, and getting a result that day meant that the final actually held and they result of the final should be respected. What if Morocco won that day will all these dramas still unfold? Would they have realised that CAF had any article 84? This injustice against Senegal should not stand that's my take on this shameful ruling.

Let me comment on the awarding of the championship to Morocco. First, I 50% agree that Senegal's disqualification was justified because they left the field, and it was considered a surrender before the match ended. Frankly, the Senegalese players' abandonment of the field simply because they disagreed with the referee's decision was unprofessional. Regardless of the result, they should have finished the match with heroic spirit, fighting to the end. Without Mane motivation, I think Senegal was a team with a poor mentality at that point.

Thank you for pointing that out. As you said, the rules were violated on the field, so the punishment is to be given on the field, not after 2 months. CAF is only looking for attention, honestly, because since the AFCON is on major media and the whole world was watching, they tried not to ruin the football, and that's why they did not give any punishment instantly. But we Africans knows that our leaders are the problem we have in Africa, and we that know how wicked and cruel Africa leaders are should always say that our leaders are disgracing Africans at the international level even though what our leaders do will be categorized as Africans at the international level. What happened is disgraceful and shameful, but as i am not part of CAF executives that took the decision to strip Senegal the Afcon trophy, i refused to be part of it, and i am insisting CAF alone should be 100% responsible for what has happened in African football.

And there were just a lot of controversies about the AFCON. It's just very complicated, and since they said Senegal violated the game by leaving the field, they would have made it clear even before all this started because now there is a lot of contradiction that the winner was declared on the pitch, and instead of all this, they would have allowed this and just condemned the action of Senegal, and they felt cheated, and that is why everything played out this way.

Now I've seen a lot of comments about how the Senegal government has taken the trophy to their military base for safety, and we did not expect things to get out of hand, but they should solve this amicably because this is not going to help them at all. After winning, they are asking them to return the trophy. I don't know when this issue will end, but they will definitely do something about these contradictions about when to return the trophy.

Issues like this could also happen with other leagues, but the chances of paying the same way this occur could be different, so we should expect that no one is free of violence in such regard, there have been conditions of worst scenario in the past that happened in order leagues, but let me just put it in this way, that probably Africa may have a shortcoming in the way of administering some challenges like this.

I don't think it's a gutter behavior actually because actions like this is clearly pointing at corruption from caf, and if they are investigated very well individually, from their communication to every details of their financial dealings, I bet you that Many discovery of bribery and corruption would be found among all caf members, that's why they all needs to be removed to save the face of african football.

As it stands now, things has really gone bad, so replacing the caf president and the rest is what should be done first to remedy the situation, and probing them all is a must if they are not going to go scort free free, because the shame and disgrace they have brought to african football is just too much.

If the rules said Senegal broke the rule, so be it. I have read some articles by some sports analysts, and they said the verdict was right. But the confusion is that none of them said anything after the competition. In fact, some of the congratulated Senegal. Why would they suddenly make a U-turn after CAF gave the judgment?

Atleast Morroco will now be happy because they devised all means to win this trophy. Now they have gotten it through the back door. Senegal knows what to do to overturn this unfavourable verdict.

The thing that, for some of us we are already hiding our heads in shame because this hasn't been experienced in African football since i started watching football. The CAF leadership has brought ridicule to African football with this latest judgement, we've been trying to convince the World how beautiful our football is and how foreigners can come in and invest and even make out leagues more competitive, yet CAF still went on to bring out our legs outside for the World to see.

Since CAF failed to declare Morocco the winner of 2025/2026 African Cup of Nations when Senegal walked out of the field when the referee hadn't blown the final whistle, I think CAF is at fault, and if Senegal refused to return the African Cup of Nations and the prize money, CAF should design another trophy and write a new cheque for Morocco because they wouldn't be in this situation if had they declared Morocco winner when Senegal walked out of the field.

I was very disappointed when I read the news yesterday. Morocco successfully cajoled CAF into giving them the trophy. African football is not real, I no longer blame teams who don’t want to lose their key players to these tournaments because when you see cases like this, you can’t help but question the integrity of the tournament.

You know, being African, it feels a little uneasy to accept this inevitability but over and over, CAF tends to prove it to be true and throw the shame in our faces. It’s indeed a huge shame that in a game where there are definitive rules that guides the game and every action has its stipulated consequences, CAF had to take this long to come to conclusion on the events that surround the not so long concluded AFCON. They just keep showing themselves to the world over and over and people are taking notes.
