At this point, it is right to assume that African teams are under same spell and it will be very difficult to break out of it, no wonder Morocco sometimes insist they're not part of the continent because wtf.

We would be so wrong to not blame this on poor game management and believe that teams from the African continent are under some voodoo spell because, wtf!
How do you go from 2 goals lead to loosing by 3:2 under 10 minutes in the World Cup. Only African teams are committing such an outright blunder.

I was so happy when Ziko scored a second goal for Egypt because that goal increased Egypt chance of winning Argentina, and I believed Egypt was going to reach the semi finals and become the second African team to play in a World Cup semi final, but that common error that sent Ivory Coast, DR Congo, and Senegal parking, which is not defending very well in the dying minutes also sent Egypt parking. Since Egypt are out of the World Cup, I will now give France my full support.

I believe we have different football clubs and nations which we support so it's your choice to support any nation you wish. But we are Africans and we have only Morocco left in this world cup as African team. No African countries has ever won the world cup before, only Morocco has reaching the semi finals in 2022 world cup, and now they are in the quarter finals to face France again. My point here is that this is the time we should support our fellow African because if they win it, that will surely change Africa narrative, nobody will criticise Africans not having won the world cup. Todays match is unbelievable, sometimes football would make you feel it's mystical and controlled by magic, Argentina were two goals down with just 11 minutes remaining to be eliminated, the frustration on their players faces could make you feel they've given but suddenly Messi and his teammates did magic, what a game.
 Egypt tried their best but unfortunately the spirit of late minutes loser that followed some African countries to the tournament didn't spare them, Morocco is currently the last hope for an African country to win this World Cup.

The spirit of late losing indeed . Some religious people will call it near success syndrome. Africa should have had more than five teams in the round of sixteen if not for late goals. It's really frustrating that these teams would lose games after they have given the fans hope that it was a done deal. We have to keep repeating the same thing, which is that they tried their best. African teams left the competition as warriors. Apart from Algeria, all other African sides lost by just one goal in the knockout stage.

One basket now carries the eggs of Africa, which is Morocco.

Sincerely speaking I was even surprised the level of play Egypt played Argentina, the entire African continent needs to come together and ask ourselves, what's the best way to approach competition and maintain our lead, 9 teams and it's only Morocco that is remaining, That is really unfortunate for the African countries. At a points as I was seeing the pressure to which Argentina was putting on Egypt despite their lead, I just knew something different will happen, and at my very before everything change in the trickle of an eye in favor of Argentina, Messi being who he was, had a great impact and was very instrumental to the result Argentina had.

there is no amount of support that you given to Morocco that can make them to qualify to semi-final or to final, because we are not the one that is going to play the match for them they already selected players are the one that will play who has been playing since the beginning of the match our support is only online support because we are not going to perform with them there, so I see our support by something of effortless, because we are not going to join legs and hands together to play ball with them, who will win is going to win even without our online support

I mentioned it a few posts above: the tactical naivety of African football is undeniable. The disallowed goal is debatable, in my opinion. And even though I'm rooting for Argentina, I have to say VAR could have easily goal disallowed, and it would have been fine. In fact, I don't think there was a foul. The thing is, any other team would have swarmed the referee, complained, surrounded him, etc. Well, with a two-goal lead, they could put the game away. They didn't make the hard part look easy, and they made the easy part look difficult. They have the talent, but once again they fall short. It's a shame.

Morocco can get their 'revenge' and break that paradigm of African teams. Mind you, I'm rooting for France, but I'm passionate about football, and above all, if Morocco plays well, they deserve to win. But they shouldn't do what African teams always do: play well and lose, like they always do.

I understand the point where you are driving to mate, but you're not in a position to determine someone's choice of a team to support I do see it as an individual opinion and no one should interfere on it if you are watching football from the natural mind perspective regardless of the continent where you're coming, if you really watch football for fun or for entertainment purposes. Once Nigeria isn't in that competition my support is not limited to anywhere, because I watch and enjoy entertainment football based on the team that plays good football and give me joy.

The problem with African teams is fear, they are so scared of all this big countries, if not for fear and foolishness tell me how come Egypt lost today’s match, some times I wonder if Africa teams just decide to come to the World Cup with low expectations, Africa teams see crossing the group stage as a big achievement in the World Cup, this countries have good players but they fear too much and they play rubbish too much in World Cup, Senegal and Egypt are in the same level when it comes to bottling matches in this World Cup, I’m highly disappointed at all Africa teams except Morocco because they are actually making Africans proud in this World Cup, they should keep it up.

Portugal has been eliminated by a late goal by Mikel Merino and assisted by Ferran Torres. Spain advances to the quarter finals to meet either USA or Belgium. The world cup dreams of C. Ronaldo has come to an end. I love his style, he fought to the end but Fate had bad news for him. Today's match might be Ronaldo's last March for Portugal, he's 41 already and should be thinking of his retirement by now. He's achieved a lot for the Portugal team and contributed a lot to soccer in general of which he would be remembered. The world cup wasn't his destiny at all.

That was a last World cup of Ronaldo but his team could not win this tournament which is very disappointing situation for that player because he could not do any goal in this match and his team is out of the World cup and Spain national football team played very well in this match and at the end they won this match and Ronaldo was emotional in this game after the match when he saw that his team is out of the tournament. Merino was a person who did goal at the last minutes and he did goal at 91 minutes. Ronaldo has huge  fame but still his country could not win any World Cup. Ronaldo made record and he has excellent fitness and he has millions of fans and that was end of his Era because he is going towards old age .

It has happened quite a few times in this tournament so far. In case of Egypt, they were leading by 2-0 till the 79th minute. And during the next 13 minutes, they managed to concede three goals. I agree that the referee was biased and some of the decisions went against them. But that is not an excuse against such poor defense. BTW, does anyone remember the Senegal vs Belgium match? It was a carbon copy of this match. Senegal was leading by 2-0 till the 86th minute. Then Belgium scored two goals in a span of just three minutes and eventually Senegal lost the match by a margin of 2-3.

Well. I think this is just some football laziness talk from most members about football why using such words as spell or juju in my local language some people just love it to disrespect and address their points of view any how…why reduce African football by calling it spell…And the painful part it is that football is not a game that is won on tactics, fitness, wisdom, and finally mentality strengths

I didn't mean to disrespect the African football neither have I in anyway celebrated any loss. But then it is painful to hold a game up to around the 80th minute and concede 3 goals in few minutes. Egypt was so impressive and kept the struggle. Even after disallowing Zico's second goal due a foul committed in the build-up by M. Attia, Egypt still kept the pace and scored again. What I don't understand is how they never learned from the Senegal's incident. Africans deserved that celebration and the hope was alive but ended, not even AET.

Africa had the best of outing in the world cup this year with almost every team qualifying from the group stage, but fans will always ask for more which is where frustration comes in. Exactly! That mindset that this is our limit is really frustrating. It's not like we don't want to break past it, it just feels like we are inferior to other teams. When it comes to FIFA world cup none have reached a final before, Morocco managed to reach the semis in 2022 which is a great result.

The Moroccans have always represented us very well in the world cup, I wonder if they can do it again this time. Although, the opponent this time is a really tough one, but with good tactics I believe they can win. Good luck to them.

I also have high expectations for Cape Verde in the upcoming world cups; stunning the world with their wonderful display in their first appearance. I'm looking forward to seeing them play more and better.

This is what annoys me the most and when you want to put the blame on the poor officiating, you have to get back to the supposed professional players that are supposed to be tactical enough in knowing that this is Messi that they are playing against and that things was always going to be to his favor. for how long will this continue to happen before we stand up to learn our lessons? having two consecutive wins in our hands and just throwing it away like it is nothing. is that not insane? it is just really annoying the mental strength we have as African.

I don't want to be the one saying this but we all saw how they called back a goal to be a foul on Lisandro Martinez but couldn't do same for Argentina.

Some teams play with the advantage of favorable refereeing, that's a fact. It's funny that even under these conditions, victories are hard-won. Argentina had the easiest draw until the semi-finals, but they were already on the brink of elimination. At the same time, if you look at the mainstream news in the media, it seems like Argentina is beating some strong team like France in every round and playing good football, lol.
I'm happy for Switzerland, but Colombia would have had a better chance.

I was really disappointed by the final outcome of the game after seeing them leading 2-0 for a large part of the game, because that was how Senegal and ivory coast threw away their lead, and later felt to a defeat , so it was really painful to watch if you are supporting them.

Am not looking too much into those excuses because even though the officiating was questionable, they would have held on to their lead until the end of the game if they doesn't lose their head when it really matters, so pointing fingers when they themselves messed up only makes them looks like a bad loser.

The way our African teams have performed in this World Cup shows a lack of strategy. They run a lot in the first half, even after scoring a goal they continue running excessively while the opponent conserves their physicality and energy. In the second half, they no longer have the strength to run so much, so they stay more on the defensive, thinking that with many players in defense the victory will be guaranteed; they just need to waste time. But the opponent, with a lot of energy and composure, scores goals and we Africans lose. What hurts me is seeing all the African teams making the same mistakes.

There are different formation when playing football and nothing is wrong when a team decide to change formation to main their defensive to reduce the exposure of their opponent coming closer to their goalpost. Mistakes can be made and that is where their can be inlet of goal after much pressure from their opponents to weaken their defensive.

I will not blame the African team for any reason in this world cup because the stronger teams with experienced players will surely overtake the inexperienced.

There was no fear from the Egyptians teams but however what most African countries does in there match is that whenever they start making a lead on there match they start losing the focus on the match and began to under performing so actually it was what Egypt did on the match, there was several countries in Africa that got this kind of chances with ignorance and non of them are still presently on the world cup. Fear is when the influence of the opponents is making the players to loss confident of themselves in terms of not being able to control and possess confidently but Egypt was as confident as Argentina.

I know your plight over this   seems like you don't want Argentina to win the world cup this year and it is better that they got eliminated by ordinary Egypt and you also know quite alright that Egypt will not go far to win the world cup, so it is more preferred to you to see Egypt defeating Argentina just in order to make Argentina lose out of the tournament so that Egypt will also face another defeat ahead of it, but I don't know why you don't want Argentina to mass out at this because the deserve it with all integrity from their way of performance.

Let another country also has a test of the World Cup and let it be a rotational trophy and not one single hand at all time. And I strongly believe that Egypt will eliminate them from the World Cup. Round of 16, R16 is the painful stage to be removed because all your hopes are now in the final. The referee decision is the final on the pitch but in the African Nations Cup, the Referee decision is question and CAF president with few Cabinet members as lawyers have the final decision. I was hearing this kind of problems in the World Cup and African Nations Cup when I was growing up but the 2018 and 2022 World Cup, things were good and I was thinking those kind of referees have been removed from the World of football but FIFA is still keeping some to favour themselves.this is very bad.
