While you have every right to actually blame the players for their lack of competitiveness and how they have made excuses for every defeat which I don’t blame them because if we have had a very good federation and a functioning body I do not think we will be seeing some players currently still representing this nation.
If you're talking about reformation, then it has to start with the governing bodies that manage all affairs of football activities in Nigeria. They are playing politics with this, and the condition is not as favorable as we expected for the players, but this does not also stand as a reason why the player shouldn't deliver their best as expected of them, because doing so right here at home is what will bring an open opportunity for them to International teams. Most of our world-recognized players started locally before they got to the peak of their football careers abroad.

If the second leg match is drawn or lost, they will have no more excuses to show. Although I never want our players to lose, but if there is a lack of adequate training, preparation and practice, then there is a possibility of losing in any field, be it at home or abroad. Also, if the fitness and preparation are not right, then no plan or tactics of the coach will affect the performance on the field. We want the Super Eagles to win the hearts of the audience by showing their performance and not by showing any excuses.
Super eagles are not lacking any training, they actually have all the training they need to win any match on there way, if I'm not mistaken all the super eagles are currently playing from one club to another and their leagues are currently ongoing so if they could perform well in those places how come we would say they're lacking enough training?. I just hope is not going to be another shameful match for them again since they are losing to an underestimated country, is difficult for them to completely get the trust of everyone since they couldn't be consistent because at the moment they would seem like people who wouldn't loss match but the next one is another lost.

You will not blame the players if they complained about the pitch. These are international player's that play on good pitches and haven't had a rough pitch experience their time playing. Merely seeing and knowing the pitch on which they would perform is not in good form instills that consciousness of being mindful while they play so they don't get injured because they know what it means of such happens and it would also affect their performances as well. So that I think is a valid reasons to which they lost but the return leg would determine if truly the Guinea Bissau team are stronger than the Eagles or not and I hope the Eagles proves themselves to be who they are and not using the Guinea Bissau pitch as execuse to have lost the match.
How did they perform against Russia? It was the same incoherent and tactically lacking display of incompetence and unseriousness. The Super Eagles have not impressed Nigerians in these few years; therefore, blaming the pitch is unacceptable. Ok, let's wait for the return leg, like you said, before concluding. When I look at the FIFA rankings of Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau, I feel very disappointed. It is now getting clearer in every game that without Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles is like a blunt knife. The only way to please me is for them to beat Guinea-Bissau by three goals or more. We hope they do beat Guinea Bissau as against what they have claimed made them lost to them. It is disappointing that the Eagle's dropped below their Rankings in African football table but however, they still have a return leg to prove that they were telling us the truth about the pitch being the reasons they couldn't perform well during the match. They just have to step up their game this time as Nigerians are expecting them to do more than they are doing. Nigerians are not really impressed with their outings as most of their matches fall below expectations.

This is African football and the players should have known better and be fully aware of what to expect especially in terms of the nature of the pitch. This is not the first time we are having such issues, and coming out to blame the condition of the pitch after such a heavy defeat just show there’s no preparation. The players and the team management should have learnt from past experiences and know what to expect and then prepare themselves to deal with the situation. I believe the second leg will be played in Nigeria and let’s see the kind of performance the super eagles will be able to put out in the return leg only then we can justify if truly the problem was from the nature of the pitch.
African football should at this time have developed passed all of this minor issues like pitch topography and other pitch related issues, rather than blaming the Super Eagles or their opponent i will choose to say it's high time African Nations be called out on how they manage sports facilities, i belive this isn't peculiar to this team or nation alone, we could see this in other African Nations too, so i think its more of an African problem than just a team or country, we can tell that we have only but a very few African Nations that has good and well maintained sports facilities such as South Africa, Morocco and another few, so generally, Africans should fix their management issues around sport first, and then we can proceed to blame teams like this. Not to completely go out of context, I agree that this isn't the first time the Eagles are having fixtures like this and should have known what to expect.

From the ministry of spots, and the NFF, they need to look serious and do their job. If they are not doing their jobs properly, these players and the coaches will always lack something that can affect their performance in the field and everything cannot be revealed online, somethings must have to stay hidden. The players are always willing to play for Nigeria, and they will want to win every match if possible because it is part of their career as players, we can’t deny the fact that they also feel bad more than us when they lose, but what the is the NFF’s reaction? They don’t usually care about these players and the team unless if it becomes one big game that the whole world will watch, that is when they will know their responsibilities. As far as I am concerned, if the NFF and the ministry don’t stop corruption and do the right thing, we will keep blaming players and coaches for all these.

My people would say as long as the head keeps failing so will the neck not stand well, the NFF and the government bodies have been setting the environment with disaster and this is already causing a lot to us which is so bad to some point, just imagine the NFF are paying poorly, bad pitches, no proper management and welfare for players, politicians get to select a slot for their self, all this thing makes players lose confidence focus and it would be so difficult for players to even give their best, no matter how talented they are…. But you likely said it should not be an excuse for players not to play well, for me it a good reason players give poor performance, because the government and the NFF are not doing what best, just imagine how other small countries are doing so great in terms of football, hope you no that those guys playing that football don’t mostly have sources of income it still that same football that feeds them, so I think you should think of that too… If we say performing well despite the bad system is exactly what scouts are looking for this will sound encouraging to the NFF and it boosts their confidence to keep stealing,

Of course things cannot keep going on the same way it has always been, the time is coming for change, we only don't know how some this world approach us, what really make me feel bad concerning to her situation is that the Nigerian team are expected to have gone far beyond where they are as of today, what is causing all this if not misappropriations of funds and corruption, whereby you see competent players are not giving priorities and those that lacks the necessary skills are being considered due to the support they have from those that really nominated them to set in, I know the change is coming but it may tarry, this is also why the Nigerian team have no longer the strongest in Africa when it comes to football.

I am not the type which blindly extol the super eagle players, in fact, with the spirit of encouragement I do like to criticize the team so they can work harder next time but this time around I won’t like to blame them but to rather say it the way I see it which is by putting the blame directly to CAF for allowing such match to take place in a pitch as bad as the pitch they played on. For me, it was more of being taken advantage of by the opponent who were the host club in this match. They could have been a better pitch used and such pitch should be scrapped out of the tournament entirely. If we want to upgrade our games and improve the quality of our games, then we must uphold on the capacity of our assets . Any country which does not improve on their assets, such as pitch, should not be allowed to be used for any game. Maybe friendlies but not even qualifiers or anything of such nature. So instead of putting the blame to the super eagle players, I will put the blame on CAF directly for allowing such match to be played in a dirty stadium like that.

I am aware that most of our players are used to good pitches, so that a bad one might affect their performance. But, as most members have highlighted, the Super Eagles is in poor state currently. The team used to have a pattern of play, but this new coach has relied more on luck than on workable tactics.
Let's assume that the pitch was the reason for that disgraceful loss; what would be the excuse for their poor display against Russia? I watched the highlight of that game and I was ashamed of the team. The Russians played the Super Eagles like a professional side playing an amateur team. It was just luck that we got a draw because the Super Eagles was totally outclassed.
Honestly this is why they should just stop all these complaints and focus on addressing their problems and getting back to winning ways. Because as a bonafide African and a Nigerian to be precise, I don’t think we have anything to complain about when it comes to pitches. Even the stadiums we consider standard not all are good. So playing elsewhere where they have this kind of challenge shouldn’t be a new thing. Yes playing on good pitches might have spoiled them as they claim, but to me that isn’t an excuse. Is it not Ahmed Musa that’s playing in the Nigeria league now? Is there any day he has come out to complain about Nigerian pitches? And we clearly know that most of our fields are not good.

It is always a privilege for every player to play for their country because it gives them opportunity and a bit of respect more when playing for their club side. For your country to have requested for you to come and represent them in the national team, then you are better than many players coming from that your region. NFF may have their faults on how the players are performing now, but it is also their responsibility to make sure they represent well and respect the badge they’re wearing. They’re not doing it for NFF, but for we the citizens who always support them through good and rough times, as we can never deny our nation internationally no matter their condition .

I could remember anytime super Eagles are playing football, there is always a standstill like no movement, everybody is glued to their television watching their match, stadium is filled with fans and supporters globally and the super Eagles play entertaining football but the reverse is the case now the Eagles are only living on last glory as they are not being able to maintain the track record of their predecessors.

As usual, fans would complain cause we're spectators moreover some people would've betted on them and get so emotional to the point of complaining. But the root cause of these whole problems is the NFF, cause if they work according to how they're supposed to then everything would fall in line. Like you said, we have talented players from diaspora who are professional and well trained in their various clubs but they still require proper management, care so to make them perform at their best.

I will also blame the NFF, but the same time am still going to blame the super eagles. We already know how corrupt the system is, and we know most of those players perform so well in their clubs, and they are financially okay. They should stop expecting much from the NFF, they should put in effort to make us proud even if the NFF isn’t treating them well. So because they are not treated well, then they not going to take their matches Serious, they should forget about the NFF, and play just to make the country proud of them. Super eagles are always struggling in most of their matches which doesn’t make any sense, they finding it difficult to win even clubs which they are suppose to win easily.

Players are coming from different club with different coaches to play together , so proper training is what will help to build a proper team work and same time understand their coach tactics . Yes , nigeria team do undergo training but are they really training with the. Right facility. The NFF still have a role to play in this , not just blaming the player always.

Definitely there must be an excuse for their failure so I'm not surprised, the fact is they still have a second leg to prove what they've really said, because I can't still figure out why a nation like Nigeria will keep moving backward in terms of footballing, they've got the stars needed to even compete on the European level, but yet they keep declining in terms of performance, like I don't really understand what's really going on in that national team, or the players doesn't want to play for the country anymore, like someone have to put me through please. I think the issue is not from the players because the super eagles has many players that are doing well in their respective clubs. The issue should be coming from how the club is being managed because poor team management can leads to what we are seeing in the super eagles. If a team is not properly manage even with the best players it will not be possible to be consistent in winning. However, let's wait and see if there will be a change in performance in the second leg. The team needs to be greatly improved and not for them to be coming up with excuses after losing a match.

Yeah I think can some how find a little bit of faith in what you said, Nigerian problem is just not corruption and misappropriation of funds only I think the upper hands lack transparency they lack to give account of everything, and that the majority problem in this country as a whole, they spend public funds like their the owner of it with been remorse and so bad to some point their is no trust btw…. If Nigerian could just invest in place as their academic institution of footballer just like country as they did, Morocco, Senegal, Ivory Coast and the rest if they is a good foreign coaching structure and a better system of stronger structure of youth from 10-15 years…

If the super eagles is gonna lose any of their matches, you will have to blame the Nigerian government for that not the players. The government is responsible for everything that is happening to the super eagles because I know that we have good players that are doing well in their international clubs but when it comes to playing for Nigeria, the mostly fuck up due to how they are treated due to the way the NFF is operating on low budget when the government is allocating billions of naira for the wages of the players.
You are saying this because someone who is close to you is not in the Super Eagles team. Put yourself in the shoes of these players and tell me if you will be very happy and excited to give your best in matches but you don't receive any rewards in return. It's not even as if the money and the resources are not there but tell me why the NFF keeps owing the national team match allowances and other benefits. This practice started long ago and it has now become a norm by the NFF to always neglect the welfare of the players. If I'm not mistaken, most of these foreign based players book their flight tickets to come and play for the national team. The NFF really needs to be sanitised, all staffs needs to be evacuated and new staffs should be employed and oriented on how to run the activities of Nigerian football.
