Lol Nigeria, my country our home “Like father like son “which is flying around the internet right now fro the latest reports less than 24hr which I was hearing Seyi Tinubu is not declaring for the NFF and there was no confirmation in fact how true can this be? This was how it all started Obafemi Martins endorsed him on Mikel Obi’s podcast saying he can be the next president of the NFF and saying he is young enough in age and can lead and supervise the Super Eagles

So right now I think it’s just talk, and endorsement, not an official candidacy that should be happening anytime soon or so…

Obafemi is talking about Sheyi being young and vibrant to lead the NFF, what about he himself the obagoal we fondly call him, is he not young and well experienced and vast than the Sheyi himself to lead NFF. For him saying such meaning he doesn't know his capacity as an ex-footballer to lead the NFF with the experience he already has. Anyways that's his own cup of tea maybe he just wants to throw jabs or something to steer up Sheyi into joining the race. Since there has not been any official statement from the office if the first son of Mr President, we should just ignore such statements till is becomes official. Grin Grin

He could do well, the recommendation by Obafemi Martin isn’t so bad, I think is high time we stop playing politics with Nigeria Football, it’s absolutely horrible for the Government to be playing politics with Nigeria Football, Nigeria need young people in their football, people who knows what football is actually about, we have to consider different options as well, now they have to find a way to make Nigeria football work again, for them to qualify for the World Cup, we just need the team to be playing a good football.

Our leaders have taken everything to be politics and that is the major reason the economy will remain on its instability, and bankruptcy all the time when you front no professional to what professional should have handled as a result of nepotism and all sort of political ground, must this be a president son, occupying seat if this nature mostly at this verge where our football is not moving forward need more than political show but determined professional who knows all it takes to put the work perfect without missing a step , usually 90% of our citizens have lost interest on our football reviving situation like this don't need politics, I said it that mismanagement will not allow our football to move forward, it starts from appointment of the key position just like this nothing more.

What? This is nonsense. If I wish those guys are here with us. If they don't have anything to say they should leave anything about NFF instead of vomiting this to my eyes and hearing. Anything concerning sports in Nigeria, the NFF president shall be a Sportsmanship and not ultracrepidarian. I can see clearly that Obafemi Martins and Mikel Obi has taken their bags of rice money for coins, culiculi and akara business which they can use to survive in the old age as football retires.

Can't They recommend a former National Teammates for the position? Instead of supporting an unscrupulous element in the position of NFF president. With this unrefined statement of support, I am disliking those guys.

I took my time to read meaning to what Obafemi martins said, then I came to the conclusion that, they might have decided to join nigeria politicians in doing the shit they are known for, it not, why will he make that kind of ulterance, may be hunger has reach their side too, they have been given their own part of the nation cake.
I understand your vexation, why will they recommend their team mate, everything about Nigeria football is politics, do you even know if they want to gain something from the guy they mentioned his name, man you should have known Nigerians, no doubt they have played football internationally, but that Nigeria blood is still in them.

Like father like son. Seyi the son of Tinubu in chase of the most exalted NFF seat of power. I don't think he would succeed such except his father influences the election to make his son the NFF president.
Another question is this, does he has what it takes to lead the footfall governing body? Or it is another conduit for them to continue the embezzlement of public fund's.
Such position needs to be occupied by ex-footballers not one without any experience in such sports because it would still be the same problem we will see if inexperienced person occupies such position.

The surprise would be if he doesn't get it, because he has it already! So far as that's what he wants irrespective of obvious inabilities or whatever, there's no surprise if gets it. This has been the drama that has affected many ministries. What will seyi Tinubu do differently from the bullshit that is happening in NFF now? Nothing different I guess. There're people that has been in the line of football directly who truly deserve this office, these persons should be the options not someone who has been an indirect insider of football like everyone of us here.

Seeing this now and what came into my head is "Again?" Like how long will these people torment Nigeria? The only source of joy for a common Nigerian, the game of soccer is now coming under this same set of enemies of the nation. How else will he perform? Is Tinubu no longer his father? Just like father like son. The biggest concern here is that as the news is coming as a rumour now, it's definitely going to happen because Nigerian politicians are not interested in what anyone has to say.

A serving minister of the this same government just made his 28 year old son a local government chairman and is this Seyi Tinubu own going to be different? It all starts as rumour and it goes on to happen. The leadership of Nigeria is all hereditary. Seyi Tinubu is not a footballer neither has he any such experience. How on earth is it rumoured that he could become the NFF President? Some news shouldn't be linked to some people.

And a question came to my head, what prevents Obafemi Martins from presenting himself on the podcast? Has he also become a praise singer? These are the questions we should ask. When the deserving people are busy singing for the undeserving ones, how will things become better? The NFF is going to witness the real bad leadership this time, let's hope this doesn't happen if possible.

Obviously he is hungry for power just like his father, and so I don't expect anything different from him...And who knows he could even be  hell bent on entering so as to use that his position to fuel his own personal agenda just like we saw with the previous administration..Personally I am of the opinion that this position should be occupied by someone who actually understand the problem affecting football as well as NFF in general... And people that fits into this category are former players or coach or say other set of folks who have actually spent years around football and also have actual experience in handling football matters, and I just don't see Seyi Tinubu as the best fit...

You also have a point because whenever this kind of cases arises were the nominated is someone who is very influential and currently have power in the country just no that he might have promise those who are supporting him money or a position they have been dreaming to have because I don't think Obafemi Martins would be doing it without expecting anything from him, perhaps if the NFF president was a position that doesn't get involved with any allocation of funds on the Nigerian sports there is know how we would have seen Sheyi Tinubu accepting to become the president but since the position controls everything that's why he has suddenly want to become the president.

If there is actually any truth to this,Mr Seyi has no business in the NFF.
He lacks the experience or the technical know how.
The position should be for past footballers who have distinguished themselves and know their onions not so a novice.
Football leadership and politics do not and should not mix if not we will continue to see a disaster.

If you observe very well you will see that everything is politicalize in Nigeria, i don't believe in any way that seyi tinubu will do well if given the NFF president, the reason Obafemi Martins recommended the president son is because they are Yorubas there will be politics in it, the NFF is the major reason why Nigeria football is not making progress they always do politics in everything they do this is why they do nominates players by the political heads on who to represent the national team, if Seyi tinubu is been given this power believe me things will still get worst, his father as a President isn't capable to lead the country forward do you also think that his son will lead NFF forward?

If Seyi Tinubu understands what Nigerians wants he will not be campaigning and trying to convince Nigerians to vote for his father in the up coming 2027 presidential election after his father has failed to tackle insecurity and other things in the country, well i will not blame Obafemi Martins for backing Seyi Tinubu to head the Nigerian football federation because most Nigerian care about stomach infrastructure and they will give support to the people in power for them to be recognize and be favour, and i think that is exactly what Obafemi Martins is doing.

Obafemi Martins has faced harsh criticism from Nigerians. People said that instead of recommending a former Super Eagles player, he is naming a politician. Other Nigerians think that maybe Martins is close to the son of the president. Others feel that he wants to gain the attention of Seyi to enable him to secure a political appointment or patronage. Former international Ifeanyi Udeze thinks that Martin's suggestion was a bad idea.

Former Nigeria international Obafemi Martins is backing Seyi Tinubu to head the Nigerian Football Federation. He made this known during a podcast with former Chelsea and Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Obi.

I don’t understand what’s going on… is Seyi Tinubu no longer interested in becoming a governor that he’s now going to run for NFF president. When we are crying that the NFF is dying, instead of bringing in capable hands our leaders wants to politicise it and use it as a settlement for the president’s son. Very shameful if this is really true.

You see when people who are supposed to speak up and people will listen, becomes compromised the general public suffers for it. Obafemi Martins in all his wealth and exposure will come out to endorse Seyi Tinubu, on what basis is his decision. I just think he’s been bought and soon we might start seeing others speaking in his favour.

Does Seyi Tinubu really need the endorsement of Obafemi Martins to get whatever position in the NFF. At least not when his father is the president of the country. If Seyi Tinubu really wants to become the NFF president, I can’t think of anything that’s going to stop him. The same way he is most likely going to win the lagos governor election next year. The way I see it, Obafemi Martins is just trying to position himself strategically in the corridors of power.

This is nothing but revelation of all that has been happening in Nigeria. Incapable persons occupying offices that they can't handle by all ramification. Handling public offices like the kitchen where any meal desired is given. It's not a news that there are people who are in that line who the world can see their capabilities as regards that office but they'll allow people that the world can't imagine their abilities in that office because of favoritism and what is your view. Imagine what this can cause, has caused and is causing any organization talk more of a nation?

I knew it would come to this. It would have even been okay if he had said he wants to contest for the office of the NFF president that would have been understandable that he is aspiring to such position but putting himself behind not even mentioning his colleagues whom he had played with in the past, rather, mentioning a politician with no much sports knowledge it's very disappointing of him to have done that. I am also believing the fact that his colleagues too would not find it funny with him and would like reply him at the appropriate time.

The whole story seems strange to me, what would have even influenced Obafemi to make such a nomination? First of all Sheyi Tinubu has no football background so why nominating him to head the NFF? is everything in Nigeria now about politics? What kind of money is Obafemi looking for that will make him make such a selfish nomination that will further worsen the current state of the NFF? of all the numerous young and old Nigerians with good football background including past Nigerian footballers is it now the president son that Obafemi Martins felt like nominating.

If Sheyi Tinubu was nominated as a sponsor it would have been understandable but why nominate the presidents son for such a position, this is really a case of misplaced priority barked by greed and selfishness. Nigerians always believes that everything is about money alone, they have zero regard for quality and integrity, no wonder the Super eagles couldn’t even qualify for the World Cup because of unnecessary politics and corruption.

You have a point about "strategically positioning himself in thr corridors of power" cause of all people he pick Seyi Tinubu, if he had picked himself, it would've even been better, considering that he's experienced on amd off the pitch, before I read your opinion I was thinking he's being tribalistic but now I understand it's a political strategic statement.
If an ex Eagles player could suggest the son of a corrupt president to become the NFF President then we're so fucked, even though he's trying to get attention, such statement is a very silly one since it's not based on merit.

Yes it is obviously a power play, but there is also tribalism in there as well. It’s just sad to see that a figure like Obafemi Martins who played internationally and earn a lot of money doing so, would end up this way. The fact that he said this on Obi One podcast is even more annoying. The fact that he couldn’t even mention any of his Super Eagles teammates says volumes about his character. Isn’t Samuel Eto the federation president of his country? Why can’t we have the same?

Nigerians are not fools, we understand his position and the reason for this suggestion by Obafemi Martins, what do he think that football is for, a kind of joke or what, in all his football career what he could do, is to spill such trash, it is shameful that a career footballer doesn't know that such position is not for a mere politician, or is it that Obafemi martins did what he did intentionally, so that he can be on trend and maybe get the attention of Seyi Tinubu , I'm beginning to be curious with what he was having in mind when he made such unreasonable  comment, who wouldn't think that martins wasn't right with his comment which was likely triggered by ulterior motive.
