Did anybody watch today's match between our U17 Nigerian team vs Ivory Coast that was playes around 5pm today? Because I just Googled the score now and noticed that our boys ended up drawing the game at 1-1, despite losing their first match against Niger Republic on wednesday with 2 goals to 1. And this simply means that our Golden Eaglets, which is our U17 players have been disqualified and willl miss to play in the forthcoming U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be held in Morocco, and likewise the forthcoming U17 world cup too. And this is a very big shame to our country that we will not be playing in the forthcoming U17 AFCON.

It actually ended in a 1:1 draw which ended their stay in the competition. Since Nigeria has been eliminated from the 2026 WAFU-B Under-17 Championship, they'll not also play in the CAF Under 17 tournament as well as the next edition of the FIFA Under 17 competition.

I don't know much about the team and their preparation but I'm very confident that it's most likely an NFF related issue. For a country with very talented players, it's sad to see that Nigeria football officials will never put in their best to help the teams succeed.

Who else has seen this news? It could be a good thing for the Super Eagles, a defensive boost to add to the likes of Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey, etc.
He decided to switch because he wasn't getting the call up to represent England, I don't see why we need to be happy about this, a second option for a player who was born to Nigerian parents, if not for himself, I don't see why he finally decided to switch.

If he finally gets called up, he is not a bad addition to the squad, we've been having defensive issues all this while, but he should also be aware that African competitions, especially the AFCON and qualifiers, are always different compared to English football.

We are only too busy with the Nigerian national team football, which is why we are not very interested in the talent rich U-17 team or worried about their performance. It goes without saying that the reputation or history that our football had is not being maintained today and this is the same from the U-17 to the national team. It is very disappointing. One thing that Nigerian football policy makers should remember is that if we do not carefully nurture the talented, then in the future, there will be no more talented people born in our country. Success does not come from talent alone, good planning and management are needed to properly nurture and utilize that talent.

Well, are you doing too much and I’m just reading it here for the first time. In my estimation, I would not say this is a shame. I would say that this should be a wake up call for the Nigerian football Federation. There’s so much to be done. I remember the Golden Eaglets, in the past was where the likes of Victor Osimhen came out from. I strongly believe that we have very great potential in these youngsters, it’s just that the leadership keeps making it seem as if they are not good enough. I’ll continue to remain optimistic that very soon things will change and our boys would shine on the global stage as they used to be.

It is very disappointing that things have gone wrong this far with our football body and nothing they can do about it as what they are just after is the money and how they can embezzle more funds to themselves. From the national team to the youngsters which is the golden eaglets all are having similar experience and finding it difficult to qualify for world cup.  I am wondering what the main issue is. If it is a government related matters, the NFF itself or the players are not really putting their efforts to play and win a match. Out current team can not be compared to the Super Eagles of those days as they were very proactive and well coordinated.
