It’s really sad seeing how far Nigerian football has fallen, especially at the youth level. Though the golden eaglets have been trying , not to mention that they have won FIFA U-17 for like 5 times . Still they would have done better this year , not qualifying at all is quite disappointing. So you’re right. This is a wake-up call for the NFF to look into the Golden Eaglets situation, and not just them, but Nigerian football as a whole. They need to identify the areas where we’re falling short and work towards improving them, whether it’s providing better training facilities or reviewing the coaches’ tactics . We just have to find way to improve because we can’t continue like this .
it was only a matter of time before the other gingers get stain roo and now it's happening, there's no way oil will stain one finger and if you don't take care of it than it would spread to other fingers. When the NFF started their incompetence with the super eagles for years. we let them be without talking matters into our own hands as fans to make demands aggressively for a change and now it's affecting other areas that even our super falcons aren't doing so well and now our only hope, the golden eagles are now effected. This should be the height of it, what's going to be the solutions now and not just we talking without having a collective decisions on what's to happen. How do we go back to our winning ways and stop the corruption going on in the organizations because that's what's causing all this decline from our team. The whole NFF needs serious change of hands because those in power can't be trusted to get things back on track. I don't even know what the minister of sport hasn't taken decision to make things better in the sport, as things seriously need to change ASAP.

Who else has seen this news? It could be a good thing for the Super Eagles, a defensive boost to add to the likes of Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey, etc.
He decided to switch because he wasn't getting the call up to represent England, I don't see why we need to be happy about this, a second option for a player who was born to Nigerian parents, if not for himself, I don't see why he finally decided to switch. If he finally gets called up, he is not a bad addition to the squad, we've been having defensive issues all this while, but he should also be aware that African competitions, especially the AFCON and qualifiers, are always different compared to English football. Seriously, this comment went back to August 2025. It's not current news. I was very happy that a new defender was added, but after clicking the quoted link, it took me back to Tosin. Tosin is not a proper baller. Benjamin Frederick is better than Tosin. The other defender, what's his name... yh Ajayi. Ajayi is a better center back than Tosin. The Super Eagles need squad depth, but not someone like Tosin.

I love how everyone is speaking up about this issue, football is where many Nigerians derive joy from and we can't let NFF ruin one of our source of joy and happiness so if more people speak up, maybe they'll see reasons for reformation cause things are bad and would become worst if care is not taken. The least these bad management can do is to recircle coaches but it's high time the root of the situation is tackled. When we have someone that's incompetent as the minister of sports things can't get any better, I don't blame anyone but the person who appointed him for a job he's not qualified for.

The truth about the whole thing is not about people speaking out, some action really need put in place I think the NFF as management deserve some questions on how representative are been selected, because even the coach most time have no say as the influence of the cabal render him speechless as many seating on that seat seek to put who seems to be their candidate even under 17 as a foundation to get their own in football, I can believe what we have now in our football is the best Nigeria can produce as nation it's disgraceful that instead of moving forward found ourselves always in backwardness as result of greed coming from people who leads us, if football today is by merit Nigeria who have still sustain a greater heights in Africa football back then in the life of okocha, Kanu back then the selections has some fairness but today your performance does not matter but who you know @ cryptopreneurBrainboss has said it all with fingers touching of oil, it's a problem right now until we rise take good choice through incessant voice.

I agree with everything in your post. In my opinion, there are two major challenges to the cause. The first is that the NFF do not care about what the fans think, and secondly Nigerians have a culture of moving on from issues too quickly. Even if we together as a people to demand credibility from the NFF, we will never fight it to the end before giving up.

How will it work, or how will the minister of sports do anything when the orders he gives comes from the top to down. Everything is Nigeria is messed up. No one department is left behind. Look at our country squad, one of the best on Europe, but yet, nothing significant is happening. We complete at the highest level, yet, common world cup we can't qualify. The worms are not only eating at the federal level, even the grassroots are just affected. Talking about how to bring change. I can't possibly think of way out now because if there must be change, then it must first start from the top. From the federal level and slowly it moves downwards. This clearly shows that we have a long way to suffer because it doesn't seem to me that the federal is ready to make possible changes to better the country in all ramifications.

For NFF not to give a dam or care about fans and the performance of the players when they are not doing well it means even the ministry of sport are also acting blind of the whole thing. If NFF do things in the way they like it means the sport ministry that overseas everything is not even concerned about the football of the country. Every year the government allocate a huge amount into the sport ministry and this is how NFF is funded and because of the sport ministry is showing no concern that is why NFF is less concerned of everything.

It seems you haven't know yet that the ministry of sport and NFF is bird of the same feathers. They work hand in hand to embezzle sports funds. Why do you think the sport minister hasn't setup an investigation panel to thoroughly investigate what the NFF has done with sport funds that is being allocated to them to improve sport facilities and players welfare? The corruption has been going on for a long time now and government is turning a blind eye or show no concerns about how funds allocated to the NFF through the Ministry of sport is being utilize. If the government are serious they would have started investigating both the ministry of sports and NFF.

What you have just said has made me realize that what if the ministry of sports is truly behind all this things that has been happening in terms of misuses of funds and we are consistently blaming the NFF because considering the power our ministry of sports has over NFF is very much true they could be the masterminder of everything because when we talk about funds they're actually the first people it gets to before allocating it to the NFF so is possible they're all an accomplices, so this means that the resignation of the former NFF president is definitely not the solution as we were thinking because the minister of sports will continue his act.

The ministry of sports and NFF are the same people, they do their corrupt things together, so why do you think they'll show concern, ordinarily the ministry of sports is supposed to be the supervising ministry to NFF and and every other body, but in Nigeria, things are never done the rough way, when you blame the NFF about how the money allocated to them is been spent, you would have to blame the government cause, the government of Nigeria has it as duty to supervise everything, how the money is spent and make sure everything is done right, but they won't, therefore they are part of the corrupt process since they refuse to do their part to the end, NFF is just a disgrace.

Everyone are just pretending to be claiming as if they don't know what is actually going on with the situation on ground, the Nigerian super eagle are expected to be more better than this in Africa and we expect them to be one of the strongest team intimidating others, same applies to every other smaller teams that play but things are not the way we expected with the way politics is being introduced into sports and those that are concerned are only running after their own personal interest and not hidden National interest they operate.

In furtherance with what you said, our National League needs to be empowered beyond this current stage that we are seeing at the moment, this is because most of the guys that were performing during the glory days of our under 17, they were naturally selected from the academy and local league teams. A lot of the youth are not seeing any future in our local League so it's very discouraging for them to even start a football career, this wasn't the situation 10 to 15 years back, the league was not a Super League but it was way beyond what we currently have. In every major city of Nigeria used to have academy that were producing competitive and quality football players, apart from that major competitions were held annually for NFF staffs to go and start scouting players at young age, I strongly doubt if NFF still do all of that.

What could we have done as regards this matter of NFF still an incompetent FA, the ministry of sports and the FA are all the same so technically, no one is checkmating the other on their activities. The more money they get the more the misappropriation and diverting if funds ment for the National team and the ones below it. The countries system of governance has boxed us to the extend they do things with impunity, they no longer care about any outcome because the system favours them, if you can beat them, you join them. If the head is bad, there's nothing that can be done to the rest of the body, we live in a corrupt system.

When Nigeria is playing, that’s when you’ll see the true oneness in us all. We forget about our religion and tribal differences and we come together as one to support our country. If we can’t get it right even where we come together as one to stand for our own, then when can we ever get it right in a country that is just not getting better in all ramifications. The least these bad management can do is to recircle coaches but it's high time the root of the situation is tackled. It is a shame to say because these are our U-17 players; many of our quality and well-known players come from there. This time around, none of our U-17 has made a name for themselves in the last 4 years
We must still have quality players in our u-17 team, but we know that the support that this team has currently is not like the support they used to have before where you could see players move to a place in the national side due to the merits of how they perform from the younger level. Nepotism may make it such that some of these talented young players who should be transferred to the National side, never make it. Our NFF has gotten a lot of things wrongly, so player performance at a top level like players who are clearly patriotic about their team has dropped. It's quite unfortunate to say that the patriotism of players has dropped cause by NFF. I remember those years when it was a thing of honor to play for our country, Nigeria. Now, corruption has become the order of the day in the NFF. I wonder when the NFF will get it right from their wrong behavior, and when the government will appoint credible candidates for NFF jobs, not the ones who have nothing else to offer than stealing.

I thought President Bola Tinubu sacked the full NFF board a time ago, or was it just a rumour. I wished the FIFA body could send their worker's to investigate the NFF and NPFL Management to uncover their level of corruption and mismanagement. They owe player's salary, we don't have a world standard FIFA approved stadium, the structure of the local league is poor, and so many other things. Yet this same NFF receives allocation from FIFA, and the competitions they participate in, but we the football fans can't account on what they used the money for. EFCC should have arrested the management boards. Every working sector in this country are corrupt and it's not easy to end. The football in Nigeria needs properly restructuring, before we can regain our stability back in the football world.

Fact is that there is no national team in the world including in Africa that does not have some element of politics in her mode of administration. leadership issues and failure on the part of the sports governing bodies so affect a team but the coach and the players also have a part to play to make sure that they at least represent the country above the average. i mean, we have players that are doing really well across the continent and most of them don't even need the local sporting infrastructure for them to be in their best of form. big players needs to also take some responsibility and see to it that they are improving on their own end when it comes to playing for their nation. NFF has always been incompetent and if we are waiting for them before getting things right at out national team level, we might just wait for ever because they will continue to play politics with everything.

Fact is that there is no national team in the world including in Africa that does not have some element of politics in her mode of administration. leadership issues and failure on the part of the sports governing bodies so affect a team but the coach and the players also have a part to play to make sure that they at least represent the country above the average.
I understand your point here because there is no perfection anywhere, but there are still some politics that are in favor of a national team and this is what we are talking about whereby in a situation that everything they are doing is still not serving a hindrance to the entire team development, we all know that politics is everywhere and other countries makes a different in such a way that they don't make it obvious that they are actually doing all this behind the curtain, especially in the advanced countries, you will hardly hear some major complain about players performance due to lack of adequate infrastructures needed.

Every sector in this bola Tinubu led administration is rotten to it root, so am not too surprised of how corrupt the Nigerian NFF is. If we had a leader as president that really knows his job or what he is doing, all this NFF officials should have been arrested and prob, but they wouldn't be held accountable to anything because the clueless government doesn't even know what they are doing.

When the NFF started their incompetence with the super eagles for years. we let them be without talking matters into our own hands as fans to make demands aggressively for a change and now it's affecting other areas that even our super falcons aren't doing so well and now our only hope, the golden eagles are now effected.
Boss, do you think we, the ordinary fans have a say over this matter? This is Nigeria, not abroad where they listen to their fans but here in Nigeria our voices do not count at all. How can we even take matter into our hands? Is it through protest? Unless you want to sleep for prison, tear gassed or you have someone strong in government. The only way to make change in the sporting area is to have a change of government entirely. Not just a change of government but a less corrupt government. Government should be the one holding the people in charge accountable but they can not since they are all corrupt and they can always cover for each other.
