passion vs practicality

The truth is, most people, and I mean absolute vast majority of us, don't have any "passions" in the true meaning of that word. That term was reserved to a very strong, often uncontrollable emotion/desire, but in its current use, it has been diluted to be just a synonym of a hobby or interest.

Pursuing a career that matches one's current hobby is not necessarily the best idea, for at least two reasons:
1 - hobbies do change. Most of us would have completely different hobbies throughout our lives, while a wisely chosen career path should be something you should be ready to dedicate time to for a very long time (i.e. decades).
2 - it could spoil your hobby for you: e.g. you enjoy cooking, but when you start doing that as a profession day in, day out - often under strict time pressure, it could kill the fun out of it and you could end up hating it pretty soon.

To be honest, then the highest success of creativity will not be observed. In order to express all the creativity inside a job, creating love for that job is a very important thing. When you love the job, everything that needs to be done to do that job successfully will come out from within due to love for the job. So no matter how much you are paid at work, if you hate that job, you will never be able to do that job well. Maybe you will get money and enjoy mental peace outside of work. But even if you are paid less in the job you like, you will be able to do the job well due to love for the job and the feedback from the job will be great. So I think if you do not love the job, if there is a second option to use, it is better to choose the second option.

This is more of a practical thing than theory, we should not settle for less or manage to do something, because our mind may not be totally inline with the procedures and conditions for that things we do, I do encourage for those that also want to have their job, that they should seek to do the type that comes from their mind, not because they needed money to sustain for a living, but because they are working in a particular field they have passion for.

I also believe that personally most people function well at their very best. But then, if you're doing a job and the pay is good, there's nothing wrong in you staying there as long as the working environment and conditions isn't doing Damage to your health, while you do something else outside work.

I know of someone who works in an oil and gas company, and presently he runs another business outside work without people even knowing he owns the place as his work doesn't permit him to do any other thing. You need to see him when his on seat, very creative and you can tell that he loves being in that his business place so yea, you can do that job that pays you well even if it bores you and find something worthwhile outside work.

I don't even know how many people who are doing the very job or things they actually do have passion for considering how the country is, a lot of person's just stick to what they see as long as it pays Their bills and also cater for other family responsibilities.

As far as I know, the concepts of passion and practicality are very contradictory when viewed in life, whether in work, career, economics or the way they make decisions in carrying out actions, be it work or other lifestyle choices.

In this life, every human being has their own life choices, for example: many people we see work with big and high salaries but they remain adamant about starting their careers individually.
There are also those who are depressed or not "passionate" about their work but they still choose to have a career regardless of whether the salary is big or small.

The essence of the concept of life is that passion and practicality exist in each person when making life decisions, that's what is called a choice.

I do encourage for those that also want to have their job, that they should seek to do the type that comes from their mind, not because they needed money to sustain for a living, but because they are working in a particular field they have passion for.

It's easier said than done. When opportunities are limited, you'll have no choice but to take a job that you don't like for as long as it can feed you and your family.

Too many professionals have swallowed their ego just for the sake of provision and the love they have for their family.

So lucky are those people who have a way to do their passion and they're supported financially for that by their families.

We want to do things that we are passionate about because it makes us feel alive. I have seen movies with dilemmas where they choose between job to earn stable income or passion where you pursue things you want but less income. pursuing things you are passionate about makes you motivated to work and master that certain thing and it can also become a source of income but there are some situation where a person is living pay check to pay check that's why they choose to work on jobs even if they don't like it so they can provide for their families.

There is nothing wrong with having needs from time to time, so sometimes they prefer the sure money they will earn. This is true because it is easier when someone supports you to follow your passion. Not only physically but also financially, but it is rare to find someone who is willing to support you, especially when you have nothing to prove, because they usually want to see result.

What is essential these days is how to sustain a good life, even if it means living away from your passion and job interest. After all, money can buy you happiness and something you are passionate about, the benefits of having a sustainable job.

But to get rich these days is not an easy job, because you have to plan the type of business or investment you can invest to start making profit that will make you rich in the future. It is when you create capital you will be thinking the type of business or investment to invest your money, because you know that you are capable to handle any kind of business or investment that will make you wealthy in the society. If you know yourself and the kind knowledge you achieve from that particular course you will not struggle to get a good job, because any company you approach for employment will know that you have a good documents that will help the company to achieve their goals.

It depend the country you came from that will make you think you will not get good job with that qualification, there are some companies that are ready to negotiate with you any amount of dollars if you have the kind qualification they are looking for and they are ready to pay any amount you will demand as a salary.

In my country gone are the days where they accept only degree certificate, now they require a lot more like master and PhD before you can get a job

Working in a toxic environment is really difficult if you have found yourself in the shoe before then you will understand what I mean where I say it's not easy. For how long do you intend to continue with the the organization because as long as you continue working,you will encountering such a situation. For a very high decent job that has a comfortable pay and advantages if you manage with the stress and pressure and not be completely drained then it not a big deal to continue and just focus on the job to be able to do it well and give in your best.

Being treated well by your employer is an underrated factor that plays a great rule in determining whether or not a person would want to stay in a particular job even if the pay is not too good.

You  can be recieving a good pay in the place you're working but at the same time getting an unfair treatment that makes working in such an environment very toxic. Would you rather work in an environment that's toxic all because you're getting a decent pay or out for an alternative place with a lesser pay while you're enjoying peace of mind? As someone that detest a toxic working environment, it's not always about the pay. Your sanity also matters.

A passion is not a hobby, and people need to know the difference between them. Something that we generally like doing or do is not or cannot be our passion, because, as you said, passion is so much stronger than that, passion is something you think you can do your whole life and still don't get bored or tired of, it's something that you can accept against anything in the world, and a hobby can't be like that.

Unfortunately, most of us don't get to make a career into what we have a passion about, mostly because of circumstances in life that don't allow us to go with our passion despite the hurdles and everything we might have to face, because when you enter the practical life, circumstances demand immediate results from you, and you might not be able to achieve that right away by following your passion, so we have to give up, accept, adapt, and move on.

We can show maximum efficiency in those tasks if we enjoy them from the heart. If I do not like a task or I cannot do that task, then naturally I will not be able to apply any skill and there will be no interest in the work. The desire to learn in the tasks in which we are interested is more keen and there is motivation for the work. However, many people keep the job they do not like thinking about the financial aspect or their family or responsibilities. However, life never runs on liking.

There are people who can play with the situation as long as they are getting decent compensation they can still work on the environment even how toxic it is, but when a good offer take place they will immidiately bite the opportunities and leave, though there are some who will continue and just focus themselves to their assign job if their passion really loves what they are doing, they will just mind their business and focus to more progress and achievements and not minding those toxic people that they are co-working with.

We can endlessly tolerate a job that we don't like, but makes money. At least just because a person may not have any other options for existence. Moreover, most people live like this. That is why a division of activities into work and hobbies has appeared in a person's life. Only a small part of people have a job that coincides with what they love. They can be people of creative professions or scientists.

You must agree that this is unlikely for a welder, although his job can be very well-paid (as it is now in Russia). Therefore, the welder will continue to work, and he can devote his free time to his hobby. After all, the means of existence (money) are more primary for a person than spiritual satisfaction (a favorite activity).

I agree with you on this, and this is the reality now. How many people don't enjoy their jobs but still stay? I'm sure it's a lot. I don't think it's a new thing for someone to do something out of compulsion and when it comes to work then like you said they have no other choice. So they will stay until they find something better.

But it will be different if the person has a high ego, they will definitely leave whatever they don't like. Actually I want to say idealistic rather than ego, but I'm not sure there are many people like that, especially when it comes to work.

All people have a passion but there are few people who made their passion to the profession and they achieved a high status and they are living happy life . We are watching many athletes who are working and they are enjoying because they achieved high skill and gave their all time to that because when you will give more time to your skill , you will be specialized person in that . People should invest their more time in the early age if they want to make their passion to profession because only 1 percent of people are earning without any tiredness because they did hard work when it was required. And now they are earning best and where they are going they are earning good And people are giving respect to them.

I can tolerate a job that I don't like for so long as long as it gives me salary that I'll use to feed my family. A common person think about not of themselves but the people that relies on them. This is a norm in our culture and that's why we're grateful to have jobs for as long as we can endure that. Other than that if it's no longer tolerable, it's easy to leave but after that, it's harder to find a replacement for that job. And that's why we can endure until we can and we're just blindly working despite that it's hard to adjust in the beginning but later, things will be normal.

You can be passionate for anything. I.e helping children may be one of your passions and if you do this, it is fulfilling but I doubt it creates much money. Often passion and what puts food on the table are not aligned. Passions should be done with no pressure and once you are pressured to earn money, it becomes tiresome.
