It's not that hard actually. I know how much I bet each month approximately. I also know to some extent, how much I lose and how much I win. I've long loved following poker pros, even watching them play on TV at night. I tried to imagine myself doing the same one day. I didn't succeed either. I would be more or less stupid if I should make the decision of making myself rich through gambling because I would be completely impoverished before I make back one third of all I would have lost to the casino. I concur with you you are basically just creating an illusion by enriching themselves after gambling, which is the majority of the content that social media shows. Big wins are often observed but people do not bother to look at the numerous defeats that occur in the background. This gives the illusion that everybody can be rich by playing gambling which is not the case at all. The reality is that majority of the people lose more than they gain. The greatest danger is to pursue those hard-to-find victories and get further into losses. Gambling is not a sure means of earning money or creating a financial base but is to be considered as entertainment.
