It's not just phishing websites. There is also clipboard hijacker malware that would replace the address you copy-pasted, and you end up sending funds to the hacker. The LoC works both ways, protecting both user and service.

Quote from: SamReomo
It's also true that Letter of guarantee not only saves a user but also saves a service because if a user's system gets infected by such malware and the user sends coins to wrong address then in such case the exchange won't be responsible for the loss.

Good addition, and worth stating plainly: clipboard hijackers are arguably the more common risk day-to-day compared to phishing sites, since they don't need you to visit anything fake — just infect the machine and wait. Always worth double-checking the address matches what you actually intended to paste, not just trusting the paste blindly. The LoG being two-sided (protects the user's claim, protects us from false claims) is exactly why we keep pushing people to save it regardless of how many clean swaps came before.

But if I were to make decisions, I'll just acquire those related domains and not use them at all. Acquiring them is to make them unavailable for scammers/cloners and not for usage.

Fair alternative take, and not mutually exclusive with what we're doing — registering look-alike domains defensively is worth considering alongside the mirrors we're actually using. We'll factor that into the domain strategy going forward.

Glad to see you still around and active here, appreciate it.

Since Bangladesh is a developing country and it's very possible for someone from that country to marry with the earnings from this forum but those who are from developed countries may not be able to arrange money for their weddings form the forum earnings alone.....
I don't remember the full story, it was shared in the Bitcoin Discussion board, I tried to find the name, even I don't even remember if he was from Bangladesh or from India, but he was from one of both, maybe a local could tell us. Anyway, I don't think in this economy even $3k is enough in Bangladesh, you at least need $5k to $12k depending on how big you want it to be.

People always have a choice to spend their money on events like this, some could manage to spend less, but some chose to spend more because they don't want to miss a single pleasure of the event. Like if they need a DJ, they will arrange it even if they have to take a loan, which is a bad decision, but it can happen.

Confirmed — this is a bug, not intentional. LTC should follow the same optional rule as every other pair. Thanks for flagging it clearly with repro steps, makes this much faster to track down and fix.
The matter was discussed (01-Aug) and you said the issue would be resolved very soon, but I haven't seen any such update. Today, when I used (Dex.Fo) exchange, I noticed that the (Mandatory) option is still there like before. Although this is not a very big problem, I want to know when this update might actually come?

Yes, that's the main issue, clipboard hijackers work on genuine domain name of a service and that's where most users with less knowledge think that a service is doing scam with them but in actual their own system got compromised and they unintentionally send money to wrong address because of that clipboard hijacking. For such mistake a service isn't responsible  because it was on user's end not on their end.

LoG is truly a savior in such case because it protects a service from such baseless claims, and it's also a protection for the user who uses the service because if something goes wrong at a service's end then user can contact their support to get his/her issue resolved. I agree with you that everyone should always download LoG even if they make 100's of good swaps again it's always better to have that LoG.

Just out of curiosity, what can cancel an order?

I tried to swap some BTC -> USDT and my order was cancelled.

Quote
Canceled ❌

You will be refunded if you have made a deposit in this order. Refunds are processed within 24 hours.

24 hours is a bummer if you want to do a quick swap to pay for stuff, for example. Tongue

I still don't see Monero among the available cryptocurrencies, even though its addition was announced in this post a week ago.
Fast mode is also still unavailable, despite the announcement that it's available for all pairs.

Update on this — turns out it needs a different approach than we initially thought, it's a technical specific to LTC's infrastructure on our side, not something we can toggle off the same way we did for the other coins. Every other pair now has the refund address fully optional; LTC stays mandatory for now, we'll update here once there's real progress instead of repeating "coming soon."

That one was a technical glitch on our system's side — happens occasionally, not something on your end. Refund should already be processing within the 24h window mentioned. Understand the frustration on timing if you needed a quick swap specifically; that's the standard refund window for cancelled orders right now, not something we can speed up case-by-case.

Both XMR and Fast have been live and working through this stretch — what you're likely hitting is a maintenance window. We do run periodic technical maintenance that takes one or the other offline temporarily, and until we get everything running exactly the way we want, this is going to keep happening from time to time. Not the answer anyone wants to hear twice, but it's the honest one.

Real talk on all three of these: we're trying to build the best, most convenient service out there, and that doesn't happen perfectly on the first try. We read every post here, take the nuances seriously, and fix what needs fixing as it comes up. Appreciate you three staying on us about it — that's exactly how this gets better.
