Çorum FK is on the rise. By defeating Rizespor 2-1 today, they have for the time being established themselves as a team to watch. They have been securing wins in all of their recent matches. At the start of the season, it would have been impossible to predict that they would achieve such consistent results. Through their performances on the pitch, they are managing to exceed expectations.
I believe there are two main factors behind this rise. The first is Burak Yılmaz as the head coach.
In my opinion, Burak is a good coach—and he’s only going to get better. When he has a strong squad at his disposal, he gets his team playing good football.
The second factor is Cengiz Ünder. He has been scoring in recent matches; he has recorded 4 goals and 1 assist in his last 6 games. He is no longer a "big club" player—his trajectory, which began at Altınordu, is now coming full circle back to Anatolian clubs.
He might stay in Çorum if he’s happy there, but I suspect he’ll move to an Istanbul-based club next year, simply because Çorum is a small city.
