Manchester United has spent 1.6 billion in the last 10 years, while City has spent 1.65 billion, yet City has been way more successful. Liverpool has spent 1.1 billion, Chelsea has spent 2.4 billion, and Arsenal has spent 1.4 billion in the last 10 years, so it's not like City were the only ones spending money. Other teams also spent money. It's not about spending the money. It's about having a somewhat decent balance between costs and revenue. I'm voting for the "Relegation and financial fines" option.

They will still refuse and it is reasonable after seeing how they reject the charges by appeal but in the end when the verdict is already there then they will also lose power by itself.
The 114 charges received from the 115 previously filed charges must have panicked them because it would also be very difficult to get out of this situation without harm so the only way is to try to stay with the initial conviction in which they pleaded not guilty although this is also not entirely helpful. I am quite curious about most of the players later because when the sanction is heavy enough even to relegation then it is likely that the star players will also go looking for alternatives for a new club.
I saw Fabrizio Romano tweet that the Football Federation doesn't want to delay the decision on City for too long. And if I understand correctly, they want to have everything decided by early October, including any possible appeals from City. So we don't have much longer to wait to see the final decision. Frankly I find it hard to believe they'll relegate City, I think it'll be a points deduction and a hefty fine. Even if they strip them of their titles, it won't change anything for the players, they'll stay at City and keep playing.

Everything is a little different, the Premier League has indeed stated that it wants to complete this process as quickly as possible. But the point here is that City has the right to appeal until October 2, that is they have several days. How quickly this appeal will be heard and how long the process of reaching a final verdict will last is not yet clear, but there really is an intention to complete everything quickly.

I've read Fabrizio Romano's tweet about Manchester City. But Manchester City has officially issued a club statement regarding this matter. Overall, Manchester City is disappointed with the Premier League committee's published opinion and still maintains its innocence of all charges. They (Manchester City) remain confident in the appeal process they have been granted. In my opinion, if Manchester City were to be sentenced for all the alleged wrongdoing, relegation wouldn't make a difference. In fact, the Premier League would feel devoid of surprises.

Javier Tebas statement about the whole issue of Manchester City cheating. I really don’t think he should be getting involved in the issue of the Premier league he should focus on the Liga and make it better and stop putting mouth on things that are not his business or jurisdiction. Maybe the reason his getting involved or saying something like this is because he don’t like pep, what ever his reasons are I really don’t care he should focus on making La Liga better. Clubs in La Liga are struggling financially and finding it difficult to sign players and register them, I think he should fix that first.

By the way, I don't understand why, in this case, it is only the League fighting against City, rather than law enforcement or tax authorities. Take for example how Mancini was paid - part from City and part (which was more than his City salary) as a "consultant" for Al Jazeera. In other words, the business operates in England, but a portion of the financial flows is fictitiously diverted to another country. An ordinary person would face fines running into the millions, and possibly a prison sentence, for this, and it is hard to even imagine what would happen to a company that set up such schemes - they would be stripped bare. Yet, for some reason, the authorities show no interest to City.

I also liked the Laliga's President statement and the fact that the Premier League is more on board with the independent commission's judgement make it even worse for them. And the whistle blower said he isn't done and that there's more evidence but he wants to see how this goes first before he drops the nuclear bombs. Inflating the club's revenue by 900m is insane with so much empty stadium every week. The current Chairman is going to jail for sure.

Maybe I totally missed that part but it is my understanding that this is a domestic investigation, it's all about the Premier League, but of course just like the cheated in the PL they cheated in Europe too, it's all connected. So did I completely miss some declaration from Uefa or they didn't say a single word regarding this matter?

The statement fo Javier Tebas may appear harsh but the law is the law therefore knowing violating the law is bad. The management of Manchester City cannot claim not to be aware of the several cheating offense what the punishment. They simply took high risk which boomerang on them. If the full punishment, Manchester City will be relegated to league 1 division and stripped of titles. This actually looks terribly bad.

I think few people doubt that the outcome of the UEFA proceedings against City involved the personal enrichment of the officials who allowed City to escape accountability. A little more about those bastard officials: Andy Burnham has said he would be “really concerned” to lose Manchester City’s owners as a result of the club being found guilty of more than 100 breaches of Premier League rules.
“I would be really concerned to lose them,” Burnham said. “They’ve been such a huge partner in the building of modern Manchester, and the building of Manchester City into the global force that it is.
“I do actually thank the City Football Group and the wider ownership for the money that they didn’t just put into the Etihad [Stadium] and the campus around it but also into the city.”
Burnham insisted he would not get involved in the Premier League’s disciplinary process, despite the potential impact that punishing City could have on the UK-Abu Dhabi trading relationship, which is worth around £30bn a year. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2026/sep/30/andy-burnham-manchester-city-premier-leagueAs you can see, the entire British Prime Minister is concerned that fraudsters might be punished, oh, he loves dirty money so much! My blood boils when I see all that scum.

Citeh's response said they had "irrefutable evidence", so their board doesn't understand the term or their lawyers can't read English... FA's statement refuted the evidence in every single way and they can't submit new evidence so, it's really difficult to see the appeal doing anything other than delay punishment. There is no defence like you said, if you read the report... FA's made up their mind and the independent panel sounded so disgusted at what they found. Man City relegation odds at Jackpotter: 25/10. I'm looking for expulsion odds =)

I'm voting for the "Relegation and financial fines" option. You don’t know what you are talking about, and if you don’t have any reasonable facts to back up your claims you better keep quiet. That you don’t remember Manchester City having any fan in Asia or North America in 2009 or 2015 doesn’t make it to be true. Have you walked through big continents like Asia and North America during those years you mentioned to verify your claim? Are you trying to tell me that there were no UK nationals that were from Manchester that lived in Asia and North America from 2009 to 2015 that were Manchester city fans? Mind you Chelsea are not a bigger club than Manchester city. Manchester city won their first trophy before Chelsea as a club were formed. If you don’t know history, consult the record book before coming here to say things you didn’t verify. Chelsea till date don’t have a stadium of their own, they are renting where they are calling home and you are here claiming they were bigger than Manchester City. Hehe, it would be a funny situation if the Premier League managed to punish City while UEFA stayed on the sidelines But technically, UEFA had established the facts of City's violations a long time ago, however, they were unable to punish the club due to procedural issues - due to mere formalities. I think few people doubt that the outcome of the UEFA proceedings against City involved the personal enrichment of the officials who allowed City to escape accountability. A little more about those bastard officials: You should be bold enough to tell your audience that Manchester City won UEFA in court of arbitration for sports. UEFA didn’t stand on the sidelines as you are claiming. UEFA were embarrassed, they couldn’t punish city because city were innocent of the allegations UEFA brought up. Or were you expecting them to punish city when city had not exploited all their legal options to address the allegations? You guys will continue crying as you are doing now when the premier league will face same fate as UEFA. If city could win UEFA, who then is the premier league that they cannot win?

Maybe you have to read again @New Judgement. I don't think @KTPChampions was claiming that UEFA were standing on the sidelines. I don't think so, or did I misunderstand the whole issue huh? From his speech, he was only speaking on the future, pointing out that if probably the premier league manages to lay there hands on city, getting all legal evidences against them and then passes a sanction, and UEFA doesn't get involved, that it will be a funny scenario, suggesting that UEFA cannot outrightly stay out of city's punishment is they are legally backeyto do so. From my end, I believe city has committed alot, and all fingers are pointing at them because it was just too much of a crime. There are laws, and nobody should be above the law. Wether city or not, punishment must be served. There have been violations before and clubs pay fines and face punishments depending on the gravity of the offense. City should get ready for there open sanctions. There is no two ways about it.

I think to understand the real opinion about the City's relegation, we need to look for those who are ready to accept the bet that No, it will not be relegated. I think bookmakers are just hyping things up right now. The real assessment is found in prediction markets, and the outlook there isn't quite as optimistic - odds against City being relegated are hovering around 1.30 https://polymarket.com/event/premier-league-teams-relegated-2026-27And yes, I can understand people who are pessimistic - when the country's prime minister supports fraudsters, the interests of major players are obvious.

Based on what I read, the Premier League is separated from the Championship, League 1, etc etc, so they cannot relegate the team by their own decision because the Championship can deny the procedure. The closest thing they could do is giving City a huge penalization that would basically make it impossible to remain in the Premier League so, for example, City would get 80 points of penalization, in that case they would be relegated in a "natural way". But considering all the games of power and money I highly doubt this will be the outcome. In my opinion they'll give City some kind of penalization just enough to keep them outside of the European competitions but not big enough to get them relegated. Let's say something like 35 points for example.

I was wondering what Mancity's response was to the allegations, so I decided to do some digging and found out the vehemently denied all allegations. ( Source) So... they're going for the appeal eventually. Another interesting piece is the reaction of Ethihad airways and some of their sponsors. Ethihad airways has decided to take legal actions against the EPL. They claimed that they weren't consulted or reached out to during their investigation so as to get clarity. Although they weren't even mentioned in the charges—I don't think any sponsors were mentioned—they felt they were grouped amongst the bad wagons. A statement said: "Etihad Airways has reviewed the Premier League commission's published opinion relating to the disciplinary proceedings involving Manchester City, together with the Premier League's public communication of its findings.
"Etihad categorically rejects any finding, conclusion or implication that suggests the airline has ever been involved in improper commercial arrangements.
"The Premier League's public communication of the commission's findings, following a period of selective leaks and reporting, has further created damaging implications for Etihad despite the airline not being named in the redacted published findings.
"At no time did the Premier League reach out to or engage with Etihad in the process associated with the commission's opinion. Etihad was therefore never given the opportunity by the Premier League to be represented, to provide relevant information, or to ensure the accuracy and fairness of information relied upon in reaching conclusions that may now be interpreted as reflecting adversely on the airline.
"Etihad is deeply concerned by the way this matter has been communicated publicly. The lack of clarity and transparency, together with the selective disclosure of information, has created damaging implications for Etihad despite the airline not being named in the published decision. The Premier League must take responsibility for the consequences of the way in which these findings have been presented.
"Etihad is immensely proud of its longstanding relationship with Manchester City. The Etihad name has been proudly carried by the club and its stadium for many years, as part of a partnership that has connected us with millions of supporters around the world. Our commitment to Manchester City, its supporters and our shared partnership remains strong.
"We stand with the club, its supporters and our wider Etihad community as Manchester City challenges the commission's conclusions through the processes available to it.
"Etihad will seek the relevant legal counsel on the options and recourse available to protect its interests.
( Source) Other sponsor have refused to make any comment concerning the ongoing issue, but they all claim to stand by Mancity in the issue. Well, I wonder what evidence Mancity will come up with to clear their name, this saga is turning very interesting.

Ale88This is exactly the point - if City are relegated naturally (for example, if they are deducted 90 points), then the Championship is obliged to accept them, but if City are expelled out of the Premier League, then other professional leagues have no obligation to accept City into their leagues. ~ Ethihad airways has decided to take legal actions against the EPL. Those guys from City are unteachable This is literally the stupidest thing they could have done - instead of working to mitigate their punishment and cooperating with the League, they are trying to escalate the situation, but they are merely creating further evidence against themselves: Etihad Airways is owned by an Abu Dhabi fund. A caught fraudster is trying to harm an investigator using an affiliated legal entity, pure cinema!

I may be expressing an unpopular opinion, but I see the Premier League as similar to the SEC, and the Premier League's battle with Manchester City is similar to the SEC's battle with cryptocurrency, specifically Ripple. Both organizations are very much like Don Quixote tilting at windmills. 🙋
I'm in no way suggesting that the people working for the Premier League or the SEC are bad people... No, of course not! These organizations are simply trying to apply old rules to a world that has already changed dramatically. Currently, some English football teams are owned by wealthy Arab states through their sovereign wealth funds. Of course, this must be very unpleasant for glorious Great Britain to admit. But it's a fact! Modern football isn't just a sport. It's a business, it's about television broadcasts and huge multi-million-dollar contracts. The old rules of the game no longer apply, but the Premier League refuses to acknowledge it. And the new rules haven't been written yet.
So I'm eagerly awaiting the outcome of this story. Because whether Manchester City is acquitted or convicted will tell us a lot about the world we live in. 🧑💻

Well, I have to disagree with you here, because I won't call 2008 - 2009 the "new era", or is it? I honestly don't think so. Mancity created an elaborate illegal schemes to by-pass different checkpoints so that they can achieve their objectives—and they succeeded—but, according to a saying in my country: "everyday for the thief; one day for the owner".
