Let see the final verdict that will be given as punishment, as Manchester City has been found guilty of one hundred and fourteen charges which were brought up against them. Because there is nothing we will say here that will have effect on Manchester City as a club . But what is certain is that they are going to be dealt with because they didn't play with the rules guiding the sport that they are partaking in. But from what am seeing in this case politics is taking place, why am sounding this way is that this case has taken so much time. Even before getting to this point judgement should be passed and it should be a very tough one as it will sound as lesson to other teams.

I feel the reason for the delay of the initial verdict was because of how thorough the investigation was, that one is no doubt, but the problem then boils down to now that they have found them guilty, how long will they wait for the punishment, that's where the politics and the whole footballing law gets confusing because City are going to drag this in court, appeal after and an appeal and even when the punishment is set out, they will still appeal that punishment and may  even get a slap on the wrist as punishment because justice system in football is kind of wack

What  Huh

Manchester City can never get the same punishment as Chelsea. The level of their offense is not even the same. Yes, I agree Chelsea were not caught but they reported themselve because they knew the consequences if they allowed the authority to find out and that's why they got a lighter punishment. Manchester city offence is just like a day light robbery to take advantage against other teams. Chelsea admit their offense but Manchester City is still denying their heavy and deliberate misconduct. If they get the same punishment as Chelsea, then they should never bother punishing them because that would be the joke for the century.

The appropriate punishment should be an expulsion from the Premier League because no amount of points deduction would be enough.  Angry
I agree that there must be more than just fines and a transfer ban. But I'm not sure we'll see anything more.

~
Well, let agree to disagree on whether Chelsea were punished or not. In my own view, they were punished for what was proven at that time. The €10m fine is too small for you to consider it as a punishment. I agree with you thou because that amount can't buy any useful player. That's all fine to me but I don't want us to compare the 3 cases as if the offence were all equal.

We are on the same page concerning city punishment. Personally, I would be disappointed if they end up getting the same punishment with Chelsea unless the commission wants to clearly show that they are bias. I don't expect the same punishment at all. If they get the same punishment then football is finally corrupt.
Done deal. Smiley

Stripping of titles, fines, and financial compensation for the teams that lost money because of the cheating. Relegation would be nice, but as far as I know, there are problems with the Championship: it is a different league, not part of the EPL.
It must be shown to all other teams in two ways: that justice has been done for the wronged teams, and that no one should even think about doing it again.
Definitely they must be punished, if other clubs who was found guilty got punished who's Manchester City that they won't receive their punishment? As long as it's involved violating FIFA rules they won't be set free. Everton was found with 2 charges seasons ago and 8 points was deducted from them, my question is if they rule the case and decided that points will be deducted from city how many points will be deducted from them? Because their charges are very different from other clubs that was found guilty. And the way the case is going I'm not really sure if their punishment will be much, it's seems they're playing politics on this issue but let's watch and see this case will end.

Time has to be given for them to appeal and after that appeal that is when the punishment will be announced and from the rumours everywhere, point deductions and transfer ban is likely going to be the punishment. They can not just rush to give them punishment when they have not given Manchester city a chance to appeal the decision that they are guilty.

They will be looking for any technicalities to get out of this one but I do not think it will work. Already I heard they are trying to deny the involvement of the owners of the club and say it is the Saudi government that was putting in the money but I hope they do not win that appeal and get punished for ruining football for us as they were cheating while others were playing fair, no wonder they won so much trophies.

I think that in addition to whatever punishment they will get, some EPL clubs will likely sue Manchester City too because all the rules they broke over the years gave them unfair advantage over everyone else and that's how they could win all those trophies. But I don't think the trophies won willbe stripped. They'll probably pay a hefty fine, get points reduction and some new FFP bans.

Yes, other clubs can sue, I remembered Burnley suing Everton arguing that their financial breaches were the reason they got relegated in 2022 and last year Everton were order to pay a 35m compensation to Burnley.

I see some relagated clubs in those fraudulent seasons taking advantage of this to demand for compensations.

It's quite funny how Mourinho reacted to the charges against City. He said he would laugh about it because he doesn't believe the case will be resolved anytime soon. He said there would first be a verdict, then an appeal, and so on, hinting at the fact that he's already in his 60s. By the time he's 80, something might finally come of it. In his view the decision could come when he's around 80 years old. So he's sarcastically suggesting that the whole process, including appeals and all the legal proceedings, will drag on for a very long time.

I saw that. It’s funny that even Fraudicio Scamano posted those words from Mourinho on his Twitter.
From the outside, these may seem like simple words, but in reality, Mourinho is not merely joking, he is also exerting pressure on all parties involved, hinting that the matter will not be forgotten and rallying public support for a fair resolution. In general, I see that this issue has once again come into the public spotlight, many "important" figures have spoken out, putting their word on the line, so it seems that it will be very difficult for City to avoid severe punishment.

Court cases are not cases where a conclusion is made in short time. Even the players that faced domestic violence cases takes two or three years before a final verdict is reach. This particular case is about 114 charges which is appeal, a thorough investigation is going to be done before the judge will come to conclusion and before then, individuals including the parties involved are going to be contacted, this is why they need time to come to conclusions.

I don't know why everyone is interested in Manchester City all of a sudden, is it because they are the top of the club or it's now personal because they won many leagues in the last 5 years. If you look at this deeply, there are many clubs that are guilty and must have done worse than them but there is no evidence to investigate them. I will like to see what measures leagues are going to use to control this fraud moving forward.

I think this issue of Manchester City came up since 2024, and I think there have been several hearing on that matter, and has not received the final judgement. The last appeal made by the Manchester United team was on the 1st of October 2026, and with the state of that matter the final verdict may not be this year 2026, and may cross to the year 2027. There is every possibility that Manchester City will be sanctioned for committing such financial crime, but I don't see the possibility of Manchester City being relegated as some persons are envisaging, but they could loose their position in the English premier League, and possibly face some other penalties that might come up after the verdict will be delivered.

This issue is delicate and can swing in any direction. There are two major factors that make the case a difficult one which are protecting the reputation of the governing body and at the same time managing public opinion. So, the governing body will also have to thread with caution in order not to set a dangerous precedence. It is interesting to note that up till this moment, Manchester City is claiming no wrongdoing, but I think the legal system will give the final decision on this because both the accused and the defense are resolute in their stand on the matter.

His sarcasm is pretty understandable. But I think bigger problem is what this whole case could mean for the Premier League. At the same time, it seems problem isn't only how complicated the investigation is, but also potential consequence for entire Premier League. And that would affect interests of many other club.
On the other hand, until any final decision is made, we can't just assume the club is guilty.

I think you guys are missing a very important point about City being (eventually) relegated: the majority of the players would leave the club. Does any of you really think that Haaland, Ruben Dias, Donnarumma, Fernandez, etc etc would play 1) One season in the Championship 2) One season in the Premier League with no European football? So basically they would throw away 2 years of their career? No way. If a club gets relegated the players abandon the ship.
~
It depends on the contract and on how closely the players are "tied" (in a bad sense) to City. If City are relegated to the Championship and the player's contract contains no clauses regarding this scenario, he cannot simply leave. If City is relegated from professional football, then I think the contract will be terminated automatically (maybe something will have to be sorted out through the courts or lawyers).
But! If City gets relegated and completely "sinks" - and, say, Haaland wants to leave, City could drag him down with them by revealing data (which presumably exists) regarding unofficial payments. In that scenario, everyone would have to find a way to reach an agreement.
Look, in my opinion you are one of the few users here with real football knowledge and I always appreciate reading so messages, so I don't think I need to explain you that the most useless contracts in the world, are football's  Wink We see it happening every summer: when a player wants to leave the team, 90% of the time he wins and leaves.
In this case it doesn't really matter whether the contracts have a relegation clause or not, they always find a way to leave. And it bothers me because if you sign a contract you should respect no matter what, but unfortunately the football world works in a different way from the real world.

but I don't see the possibility of Manchester City being relegated as some persons are envisaging, but they could loose their position in the English premier League, and possibly face some other penalties that might come up after the verdict will be delivered.
The problem that is present when this sanction occurs is where Manchester City will move.
Because looking at the EFL statement that overshadows the Championship, league two and below they seem to refuse Manchester City to be in their competition and I can understand that because of the differences that will be jomplang.

So this is a consideration when Manchester City are relegated then where they will be placed if the EFL rejects them. But other lighter sanctions such as deduction of points was not possible for the indictment 114 cheating and revocation of the title may still be considered but these sanctions are also actually not much help for me. Manchester City will be at a disadvantage when it comes to lifting the title but after that there is no impact whatsoever for them as they remain with the wealth and potentially do the same in the end.

Wow...this is crazy, but if Mancity is found guilty, will there be any need for more suit? I'm just wondering.

Although, recently, I've been hearing things like clubs are voting to determine Mancity's expulsion, and that Chelsea has refused to participate in the voting (Source from X). From Skysports, it was reported that other clubs were actually thinking of suing for compensation, but things took a drastic turn and now they all are voting for their expulsion.

Some other clubs are still against the expulsion though, their is no unified front in that route. But, it would be interesting to see how this plays out.

Well, AFAIK, the rules has changed. It takes just 4 months now: 12 weeks for hearing (which is around 3 months), and 30 days to give the final verdict. So...he won't get to 80 before the case concludes.

It is good you brought this up again. I can't really remember when last I heard this matter. And it is only from this your thread that I am remembering this case again. And as you said, they will have a soft landing judgement with a fine. I strongly believed that they will be fined with additional punishment of either of the mentioned you made. Manchester City management tok is waiting for the outcome by now to know their faith.
Manchester City's 115 charges is the main talk in the football world even football influencers on Facebook, TiKToK, and X (formally Twitter) talked about it, so i believe you did not hear about the Manchester City's 115 charges because you were not active on social media. UAE already threatened UK government that any severe punishment for Manchester City could affect future major investments in Britain. So since politics has taken part in the Manchester City's 115 charges people should not expect severe punishment for Manchester City because it will not happen.

It often depends on the club's stance. Baleba wanted to join Man United a year ago, but the club blocked the move. Yes, he joined MU this year, but Brighton didn't let him go. Jadon Sancho and Garnacho were left out of team matches and training. They left the club too, but they lost a year of their careers. They could have become better players in that time.

You're right that a club can't stop a player who has decided to leave, but at the same time the club can seriously lower his price and damage his prospects.

As a result, the decision will usually be some kind of compromise. For example, a player plays the next season as well as he can, but after that the club lets him go. Or, if we're talking about Man City, the club can make some secret offer to the player, as it has done before. Smiley

Yes, unfortunately, that is the reality. This makes me incredibly angry, especially knowing that in ordinary life, an ordinary person can even go to jail for deliberately failing to fulfill obligations, but these impudent millionaires do whatever they want and don’t care about their obligations. Footballers fought (and won) to ensure that clubs would pay them no matter what (even if they were injured and didn't play at all), but in turn, they weren't prepared to fulfill their contracts when they didn't want to. Whenever I see news about the rat Isak, Alvarez and others like them, I get irritated. And yes, if you take this into account, City players will scatter like cockroaches if the club gets into big trouble.

Exactly, it's unfair because they are already ultra-privileged people compared to us, regular people with regular jobs and, most importantly, regular salaries.
Especially nowadays the teams are more international than ever, there is no real attachment to the club they play for, so as soon as they get a better offer they'll start making up excuses after excuses. Ibrahimovic basically built his own career this way.

I can eventually imagine a player like Foden choosing to stay in a post-relegation City because he is an academy player, so he feels and live the club in a different way. But players like Haaland, Dias, Donnarumma, etc, what is their link with the club? None. Sure, they player a decent amount of years, but is it enough to basically make them throw away 2 years of their careers for City? I don't think so. Imagine City are relegated and Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and PSG submit offers for Haaland: he would never say "thank you but I prefer to play in the Premiership". It'd never happen.

They must be punished, have you check your club and investigate them to see if they are guilty like Manchester City because I don't understand the desperation to punish a team when they have to follow a due process. Alright, what if they are found not guilty, will you say the system is rig or you will agree with the judges. There are many situations like this that were appeal and after some further investigations, the case was rule due to some evidence that were left out.

I don't even like Manchester City in the first place but I don't see them as an enemy, there are many teams that have done worse but they are not caught. Some people are probably hating because of the titles they won and all of that happen in the field. I think to be gifted to use the money to work is different from using the money to get the right players to do the work. City didn't win the league with money, the players and not upto what some clubs spent.

There's a legal concept called an unreasonable restraint of trade. Unconscionable contract...

Restraint of trade are usually declared illegal by court order. 🙋

I'm certainly not going to definitively claim that all football contracts are restraint of trade (after all, I'm not a lawyer), but it's intuitively clear that an employment contract shouldn't be akin to slavery. Outside of football, employees freely move from one commercial company to another. Why should it be any different in football?

Furthermore, it's important to consider that football players are very wealthy. While they're certainly not as wealthy as football club owners, they're quite capable of hiring competent lawyers. In developed Western countries, wealthy people are equal before the law (I won't say the same about poor people, as I don't know, but I suspect poverty is bad and disadvantageous in any country). In short, as you rightly noted, a football player who wants to leave his club will always find legal tricks to do so.

Regarding punishing Manchester City, I don't think it's in the interests of big business. Of course, one could invoke the notion of fairness, but in reality, a strong system is always more invulnerable than a weak one. A small lake can dry up in the heat, but no one can drain an ocean. Manchester City has powerful defenses against its enemies, including multi-million-dollar broadcast contracts, the world's best lawyers, and the vast wealth of the club's owners. It's simply impossible to fight such a force. 🤷

I'm just wondering if city is found guilty and giving a punishment how bad it will affect the city because one of the punishments that may be given to city is relegation andbi dont think if Manchester city is relegated for a season,  if they will remain the same when they are to EPL in the new season. I just found out as of today city have been found guilty but they have already made an appeal of not being guilty and it just hope appealing favours them.
