There’s no guarantee you’ll be profitable even In the long term because bitcoin is very volatile. The price of bitcoin is very unpredictable so you can’t be certain that you’ll be in profit. Apart from bitcoin price value mostly driven by supply and demand there are also other factors which influences the market price movement that are very much unknown so it’s not certain that you will be in profit or you’ll be in a loss in the future and that’s why it’s important to invest according to your risk tolerance level because there’s no certainty in the market.

One thing I believe is that if Bitcoin keep existing then surely, someone will make profit in the long run no matter the volatility of Bitcoin because the fact that Bitcoin is volatile doesn't mean it can stay in a particular price for over 2 years no, I doubt that and i don't think it has ever happened in Bitcoin before and so, I don't think it will happen now and even though the volatility of Bitcoin reduces, if it doesn't lose value it will definitely surge so two things are always involve and I don't see Bitcoin losing value anytime soon.

Now consider yourself lucky enough to have a total investment amount of $10K (which itself isn’t chump change). What’s even better? You can enter at the very bottom of the bear market and ride through its entirety — and enjoy returns of well over 2-3x in the upcoming bull market. But then why should I think I’d see those kinds of gains if I’ve just bought in at some price near an all-time high? Well, maybe I’m being too hopeful but it seems inevitable!
Buying at the very bottom of a bear market is not the same as knowing the price in advance. I assume you have taken advantage of the so-called bear market, but what will investors do if that price doesn't come?

Even the highest price of the previous cycle does not determine how low you can buy in the next bear market. The price may fall later, but there is no guarantee that it will go below today's price. To illustrate, if the price goes from $100k to $160k and then drops to $120k, then there has been a big drop from the peak, but those who waited and didn't buy when it was $100k didn't get the chance to buy at a lower price.

There is absolutely NO need to begin to check when to enter the market or when to buy Bitcoin, or perhaps considering the gains you will make when you buy during the bear season and compared to those who will buy near the ATH market period. It really makes no sense to me as long as you want to HODL Bitcoin for long time frame of 4-10 years and above. Unless you are a trader who is just after short time market gains, of which is not the best way to go about Bitcoin because the short gains that may be made cannot be compared to what Bitcoin might yield if you HODL for longer period as an investor.

The best practice has always been to buy Bitcoin regularly, consistently and continuously using the DCA regardless of the current market price, wether the price is moving upwards, downwards or sideways. If we can and HODL, growing our portfolio, then in a long run, we could see a significant growth in our assets and in the price of Bitcoin hopefully.

What do you mean? DCA ignores bear and bull and in fact, longer bears, bigger bears are even more fun (which is usually the opposite in trading because people seldom short for long) as your average price lowers. Bitcoin makes it the best asset even since it always spends much more time in bear than in bull!

During that 2017 bull run period, it was almost anyone who bought bitcoin during that time that could make money from it because the price was rising fast due to all the hype around it then and also the growing interest in it and the new money entering into the market back then Grin

In that kind of situation, it would be difficult to tell the difference between folks who truly understood the market and those who just got lucky.
That’s why it kinda felt like gambling, because people could literally make profit without necessarily having any solid investment strategy.

When the real problem came was when the bull market ended Grin, the people who thought that things were gonna keep being sweet forever, they now had to deal with price crashes and losses, some even went as far as taking bigger risks just because they want to cover their losses, all these because they never planned or knew how to handle a market downturn.

Its what I said. Anybody and all idiots myself most included was doing so well in 2017. Buy shit and it became 5x in no time, it was a matter of who sold at the top and who exited first. At least I knew I was lucky, because I also tried doubling down every time there was a shitdip, then it failed, so I knew there was no skill involved.

Remember, even those famous crypto portfolios ALL lost in the bears. Makes you think a lot Smiley

Sir, in my opinion small investors can also get a chance to make good profits from Bitcoin in the long term. There is no such thing as having to invest a large amount of money in the beginning. I myself started with a fairly small amount of money but my goal is to continue investing regularly and hold Bitcoin in the long term. My plan is to hold Bitcoin for at least 4–10+ years or more.

You sound like it's a bad thing to invest with a big amount of money which is not at all. You can buy Bitcoin with bigger amount so long as you have enough discretionary income to do so, and still have some left to build up your back up funds. The only thing here is that it is not mandatory that you must start your investment with big amounts, no.
Then for newbies, since they don't know much and are still trying to learn there income management and allocation, sometimes it is advised that they start out small with there investment while they figure things out properly and also build confidence in there investment.

For me the main thing is that how much money I started investing with at the beginning is more important than how consistently I can continue investing. Over time if my income or investment ability increases I will also increase the investment amount.

This is totally wrong. Consistency is the key to investment and not how much you started investing with.

An investor who starts his investment with little amounts due to his little discretionary, but remains consistent with his investment will have a greater amount of Bitcoin in his portfolio if he does that in a long run, let's say 4-10 and above, compared to another investor who buys Bitcoin with a slightly higher amount but is not buying regularly.

We know that big buys helps to increase the portfolio size, yea, but it can't beat a consistent buyer if given a specific period of time for comparison. While we aim to improve our buys, we must also aim to remain consistent in buying. Consistency is the key to regular growth of our assets.

A newbie is still learning, so it will be more good that they start little instead of them trying to invest big. The best risk management that a newbie can do is to start small . And it is good that they do that because while they are still learning. During learning, newbies make all manner of mistakes because they haven't gotten much knowledge as professional investors.

If they make mistakes like them using the wrong money to invest and it cost them some of that their stash, at least the loss will not be as what they could have lost when they ongoingly invest big money.

As the newbie gain knowledge along the way, they can begin to increase the amount for investment.

I believe you, my friend. From my personal experience, trading anything isn’t fun, especially when you want to sell something valuable. People always think you want to deceive them, and you end up selling something valuable for pennies if you’re in desperate need of cash. Trading Bitcoin is similar to that. There were times when it was hard to sell BTC for $200, and here we are - trying to sell it for $85k. I 100% agree with you, mate — trading Bitcoin is far from being fun.

I get the bull run in 2017. Nobody could make a mistake in that short time, everything you would buy could turn to gold. But that's the fun of gambling rather than trading. Stay long enough and all that gold turns to dust and then its mass panic as you chase losses. I was there, I was one of them Smiley

DCA is fun though Tongue

Yeah, I support people that enjoy the process of consistently stacking sats over time. If you really spend the amount you can easily afford to lose on buying Bitcoin, why not do it once or twice in a month? After all, if you spend it on coffee, alcohol or food when you are overweight, you are going to lose more than money, you are going to lose your health. Buy Bitcoin with your spare money if you have it.

Yeah they can actually do that buy once or twice a month, since its better than nothing or waste their money on unnecessary buys.

Those alcohols, coffee or other nonsense things will just disappear and they won't get anything from it, but those Bitcoin they buy could possibly grow its value and with this they could possibly get much better returns.

So choose to commit and keep stacking. Since doing DCA Bitcoin is not only fun but also rewarding.

And it is good that they do that because while they are still learning. During learning, newbies make all manner of mistakes because they haven't gotten much knowledge as professional investors.
It's not a must that a brand new investor with a large discretionary income should start his bitcoin investment with a small amount of money from his fat discretionary income all in the name that he wants to learn about bitcoin to a certain point before he start using a big amount from his discretionary income to buy bitcoin.

Provided that he has figured out his discretionary income and has the zeal to DCA based on the size of his discretionary income and also use some part of build his emergency funds overtime. Some newbies might be new to bitcoin investment but it doesn't mean that they're new to investing because some of them already have other investment that they want to diversify from there into bitcoin.

Quote
If they make mistakes like them using the wrong money to invest and it cost them some of that their stash, at least the loss will not be as what they could have lost when they ongoingly invest big money.
This is why you don't need to rush into buying bitcoin without figuring out your discretionary income yet to avoid you buying beyond your discretionary income. I call that gambling because it's a wrong practice that will later, come back and bite you on your ass and you might sell at loss if your needs arises and bitcoin price is below your entry point. Brand new investors shouldn't make this mistake.

Other way you can make money with Bitcoin is by buying Bitcoin when it is down and sell it as soon as it high, which is known as trading but it is risky because you can lose your money in the process. Yes some investors can actually make good profit with Bitcoin investment, what they just need to do is to accumulate Bitcoin consistently with dollar cost averaging (DCA) with the amount of money they can spare to lose, if they do this for at least 4 - 5 years they will arrive at a reasonable amount of Bitcoin that if they hold it for long term they will make good profit with Bitcoin investment.
