The way Argentina played against Spain in the World Cup final match was nothing like the performance they had in previous matches. The fans in the gallery tried to cheer them up again and again but they were helpless against the Spanish team's tactics. Basically, none of the tactics of Argentina manager Scaloni worked against Spain. Although there was a lot of excitement among Argentina's fans before the match started, they gradually calmed down and Spain won the trophy.

The biggest defeat of the Argentina team was that they could not take a single shot on target in the entire match, that is in 120 minutes. But Spain had 20 shots, out of which 11 were on target.
It can be said without a doubt that Spain really deserved the final. Argentina could not take a shot in attack even in the 90 minutes against Spain. They certainly played badly in the final. So Spain deserved the victory. But it cannot be said that none of Scaloni's strategies worked. Because Argentina could not attack and kept Spain goalless until the 105th minute. Of course, it is a testament to Scaloni's good strategies that Argentina kept Spain in the defensive line for a long time.
I was supporting Spain in this World Cup and I wanted Spain to win. However, everyone was happy with Spain's performance in the final match, and why should not they be happy? The way Spain played in the final match, Argentina really couldn't beat them for 90 minutes. I was surprised that a player like Messi couldn't do anything in this game, but, from the beginning, based on Spain's performance against every team, you could say that Spain deserved to be the champion of this World Cup and they won.
Spain dominated the last World Cup in the same way from the beginning. They dominated every match. When France became unstoppable, Spain said we are here. France's dynamic attacking stars could not show any dominance against Spain. But I think it would have been better if Portugal had won this World Cup instead of Spain. This year's World Cup was the last World Cup for Ronaldo, Neymar, Messi and other legendary players. While all the other players have had many achievements and failures in their history, football fans will never forget Ronaldo's failure. If Ronaldo had won the World Cup, no team's fans would have regretted it. It would have been a traditional witness in football history. It would have been the perfect achievement of a player's life. But above all, reality always moves at its own pace. Spain performed consistently from the beginning to the end of the World Cup, and they were the ones who deserved the trophy.

Very nicely said, although I wouldn't really agree with the statement that Spain dominated every game.
Yes, they had possession of the ball in every game, but not necessarily a positive result. For example, in the group they only played 0:0 with Cape Verde and they struggled against Uruguay and only beat them 1:0 after Uruguay was left with 1 player on them.
In the quarter-finals they had a very difficult game against Belgium, because after Spain took the lead, the Belgian team managed to equalize at 1:1.
The game was very uncertain and open at that moment and was decided by 1 detail, the injury of Belgium's first goalkeeper Courtois because his substitute made a big mistake in the rest of the game and conceded a goal, which allowed Spain to win and avoid extra time.
Of course, I'm not saying that Spain didn't deserve to win the world championship, but in some difficult moments they were a little lucky, unlike the last 2022 World Cup in Qatar when they had perhaps a better team but were eliminated on penalties by Morocco.
As for the stars, Messi and Ronaldo, I think that they won everything they could have won on a club and personal level, and it cannot be said that they were unsuccessful on the national team level because Argentina was both the world and South American champion, and Portugal was the European champion.
Honestly, Portugal would probably have done a lot more at these last 2 World Cups if they had played without Ronaldo, a player with a big ego who didn't know when enough was enough and when his ego and great ambition hurt the team instead of helping it.

Argentina is a great country in the history of football and they have produced talented players over the years. Messi is the pioneer of the team, he literally made his presence in every match to be felt. Argentina will not find it easy anymore because the player that made them great will not accompany the team in the next world cup. However, they should be proud that one of the best players in football history came out of the club. They should even have a day dedicated day to celebrate Messi because he made Argentina proud all through his football career, even at a time when he almost gave up but he kept pushing and has achieved a lot especially winning the Balloon d'or for 8 good times which will be difficult for any player to break that record in the next decade.

However, Argentina can still perform well in the next world cup because nothing will change much in the players that played the 2026 world cup. Apart from Lionel Messi and Nicolás Otamendi, the rest players will play again in the 2030 World Cup so there is still hopes for Argentina.
There is no doubt that Argentina's team is quite good. Without Messi, the Argentina team is also quite strong. But if Messi is there, it will be very easy for strong teams to make assists or goals at critical times. The Argentina team will now have to organize the team according to a new plan and follow a new strategy. Where without Messi, they will become strong enough to beat all types of teams. If the Argentina team moves forward with this objective in the coming years, then in the future, we will be able to see a strong enough team in the 2030 World Cup. I hope that the Argentina team will perform well and improve considerably. I am very optimistic that the Argentina team will go the way to the semi-finals in the next World Cup.

The UEFA Euro and Copa America 2028 would be a good test for the countries that will be the contenders for the World Cup. Europe has some of the best teams in the world, but America also has some sound teams that can compete with the European sides. I agree that four years is a long time because many things could happen within this period. Players' injuries, retirements, coach sackings, and other factors could affect the performance of countries. Spain, France, and England are my favourites for now to win the WC.

But still they got failed and I think it's okay for Messi but not for Argentina because Messi did everything with satisfied root despite Argentina didn't help him to win the final for him. He sacrifices his whole career for Argentina team but they didn't give him any good time.

To me it seems a bit exaggerated, almost as if Messi was the only player to have really made a difference during the World Cup. i don't think it happened that way, i think Messi is a central point, a reliable point of the team, but not that he made all the difference, also because he still missed two very important penalties for Argentina. Therefore i would give credit to all the players.

I was disappointed by the decision of Carlo Ancelotti to drop João Pedro for Neymar. The World Cup is a highly competitive event, and there is no place for poster boys. Neymar was injured and was not in good form, but public pressure forced the Italian coach to add him to the list a dropping one of the best strikers in the EPL. I suspect Ancelotti and Brazilian fans would have regretted that mistake.

Certainly, I wasn't disappointed, as I was against it from the beginning. Neymar wasn't in good condition, and the calls for his inclusion made the coach choose him only to curry favor with the fans.

It's very bad when all the responsibility and hope are placed on the shoulders of just one player. I noticed the same thing with Cristiano Ronaldo; it seemed like he was the only one who could lead Portugal to victory in the World Cup, and the others didn't even exist.

I agree with you regarding Endrick's potential, but I would also like to see Vinícius on the list he has really stepped up for Real Madrid. The two could form the core of Brazilian squad at 2030 World Cup. Seeing Brazil lose to Norway this year was especially painful for me because I had high hopes for them and wanted them to at least reach the semifinals.

I believe that Brazil needs a little more tranquility in the game, because it has always been a national team that stood out from the others for its simplicity and fun in the game, something that has been lost over the years, and should re-emerge from players who enjoy playing with their teammates rather than showing themselves individually.

France and Spain are the favorites to win the next WC.
Not really surprises there as Spain is the defending Champion; already looking forward to the next WC
That's right. But I think Spain is the first contender compared to France. Because Spain is not only the world champion, but also important players like Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Gavi and Cubarsi in their team will have the opportunity to play at a good age in 2030. The biggest thing is that they will have the opportunity to play matches in the 2030 World Cup. Even France's star player Mbappe will be 31 years old at that time, which is still enough depth as a new generation.

But we have to consider some things, what we thought before 2026 has changed a lot during the tournament. So now, although Spain and France seem more likely to win the 2030 World Cup, a lot can change in the tournament in 2030.
But it is not possible to say these things now, we used to think that Argentina and France were the most likely teams for the 2026 World Cup after the 2022 World Cup, but Spain won the 2026 World Cup, where Spain was eliminated in the Round of 16 in the 2022 World Cup. So we can never think so far in advance that any team is the best possible team for the next World Cup. And besides, winning 2 World Cups in a row is not an easy thing, so I am not sure that Spain will win the 2030 World Cup. We can think now of France or Spain, but it may be that a team that we do not expect will win the World Cup, just like this time, I am sure that before this World Cup started, no one expected that Spain would win the World Cup.

Argentina for me has 2 players that truly made the difference: Messi and Martinez. Messi we all know why, but Martinez in the WC in Qatar has done an excellent job by distracting the French players during the penalties, it's really difficult to have a goalkeeper that make such difference.

I'm telling this cause usually the defense players don't get much attention, since they don't score, but in WC is very easy to go to penalties and Dibu really made THE difference.

And Scaloni seems a skilled coach that also has an heart, as we all have seen during the press conferences

Martinez as a goalkeeper is undoubtedly a reliable goalkeeper, he has already proven it several times. Everyone see it in action.

And certainly also very instigator, as he did with the French players during the penultimate final of the World Cup played which was truly a fundamental part in disturbing the rivals with so much tension.

Players' injuries, retirements, coach sackings, and other factors could affect the performance of countries. Spain, France, and England are my favourites for now to win the WC.

It wouldn't affect it overall to the degree that Europe becomes less important. Cheesy

Take the quarterfinals as an example and you see which teams are relevant. France, Spain, Morocco, Belgium, Norway, England, Argentina, Switzerland. In the past there was more South America like Uruguay, but South America is not as relevant and the final at the World Cup was proof of this. A World Cup without Spain, France, England would be ridiculous. And it is not like they would disappear, I am sure that the UEFA would counter with their own additional competition. And if the UEFA does that, it is only a question of how many teams from other continents would want to follow them because the UEFA isn't poor, they could build a highly attractive competition.

I think it would end in a debacle for Infantino and definitely for the FIFA later down the road.

Just think about this funny scenario that two finals take place on the same day and at the same time. The UEFA + some other association features Spain - France and the FIFA has USA - Japan. I think no comments needed.  Cool

There were probably several reasons for giving Neymar a place in the team even though he was not in a good position. One of Ancelotti's strategies during the World Cup was that if a world-class star player comes on the field, it will be easy to keep pressure on the opponent. The coach tried but Neymar's physical condition was not as good as expected.

If a world-class forward comes on the field, the opponent is under relatively more pressure which we have seen in Ronaldo's matches. He tried to perform well from his position in the World Cup but he could not finish well due to lack of good support from the midfield. But if you look at the Portugal matches, you can see that the defenders were almost always busy marking Ronaldo. Carlo Ancelotti also thought of creating such pressure. But his strategy didn't effective due to Neymar's physical disability.

But I don't understand how they expressed such an attitude at that time even though they knew the rules.  there is no way for debate that Argentina played badly in the final. And if FIFA had given them an extra advantage, they would have tried to make them win the final as well, but they didn't play well in the final and even received a red card.

Let's say that from the behavior of President Infantino and from some things noticed during Argentina's matches in the last World Cup, i think it is also natural that a bit of suspicion could arise among everyone, which in fact it did. And i don't think this is anyone's fault, also because in the end Argentina exited the World Cup.

I think that’s what is really wrong with brazil national team, their players play for themselves and work to bring themselves in the spotlight rather than work as a team, many brazilian players like Vinicius have brought this to madrid and it’s suffer Alot, madrid have done alot of things to overcome it but if Vinicius continues this and continues to play for himself then madrid cant improve.

If we talk about Emiliano Martínez separately, then we don't have to go far, but we can see his excellence only when we look at the final of this World Cup. Did he save less attacks from Spain? From start to finish, he saved a great 11 shots from Spain, it can be said that the match was the entire Spain vs Emiliano Martínez match. This is his highest save match of this World Cup, if Argentina could have won this World Cup somehow, then Emiliano Martínez's maximum effort would have been worthwhile, but it is his misfortune that despite such excellent goalkeeping, they could not win. Anyway, I have no doubt that Emiliano Martínez is a great goalkeeper.

In a game, you cannot win a match or survive for a long time depending on one player, to win a match or survive for a long time, the performance of each player is important. Lionel Messi is definitely a good player, we have to admit this, every player in the team tries to perform at their best to win the match from their own place. So I believe that Messi has tried his best from his own place to win the world cup for Argentina. It is not possible for a player to win the team alone, it takes a good performance collectively.

Argentina is truly a team that has impressed me with their fighting spirit and never-give-up attitude, and they should be congratulated for that, even though the better team definitely won the final.
However, I don't think it's realistic to expect Messi to play in another World Cup, 2030 and without him Argentina is just another average team and no longer a candidate for a medal.
At the 2030 World Cup, I expect Spain to once again be the main favorite for gold, with their main competitors likely to be France again and possibly England.

Argentina is a team that deservedly lost the last World Cup because, meeting a Spain who was much more fluid in their game and much more aware, they rightly lost a final.

But the last final played against France deserved to win because they played a World Cup in a majestic way and deserved to win the cup.

It's interesting what they'll do in the next world cup because it's clear that Messi played a huge role in Argentina's team for more than a decade and we saw how he carried the team even in this last world cup. If they don't change strategy, I don't think they'll do much in the next world cup.

Messi indeed had a significant impact in bringing Argentina to their current position. However, Argentina has also prepared what they need because Messi will not play for the national team forever. They are now regenerating young players to remain competitive, and they will likely change their playing style, which has always been centered around Messi, to be more distributed. Maybe later in the Copa America tournament we can see more or less how Argentina will adapt their playing style without relying too heavily on Messi.

I can't think of Argentina's national team without Messi... He was important on every games Argentina played in the last world cup and I would say essential on every plays executed and goals scored. Even Scaloni told the strategy of the team was to follow Messi's movements on the field. The entire dynamics of the squad works around his figure.

Moreover, when Messi is having difficult to be efficient on the field, the team seems lost and hopeless, so they do nothing useful, as could watch on the final game between Argentina and Spain.

I expect Argentinian national team to decrease their performance considerably once Messi retires.

Martinez have always appeared in the bigger picture when we're talking about the important players of the team, players that led their country to the final, Martinez name will always come out. Argentina did their best to win the 2026 world cup but it was just not possible for them because their rivalry was very fierce and didn't give them breathing chance, Argentina was dominated Spain fulltime and Argentina even failed to kick atleast one off target or on target
