The issue of privacy always is not new anymore here in the forum and even outside here. Even when it's not Bitcoin, one must not be always showing up and bragging about your financial possession. It draws the mind of wicked people towards your money and some may begin to plan evil and a whole lot of things against you, all geared towards dispossessing you of what you claim to have. The worst part sometimes is that many people suffer as victims of attack when they don't even have much all because of there lifestyle. Even if am not an investor or don't HODL Bitcoin, should I brag and show off the little I have to the world and make some persons feel less important? Everyone must be careful and wise.

I agree with you; leading a quiet, low key life isn’t a bad way to maintain your privacy and keep a low profile. This is because if anyone becomes suspicious, you could become a target for those with malicious intent. By those with malicious intent, I also mean the state, which, often starved of money, can’t wait to latch onto someone who has been more forward-thinking than it is, in order to drain their money through taxes; so you end up with a partner who takes a share of your BTC without having done anything to deserve it.

Since Bitcoin is so popular already it's time I start pretending like I don't need it, if someone especially a stranger ask about Bitcoin I will ask them to explain themselves, what is that?

I think that's the best method right now, no time for lecturing people about Bitcoin like in 2018 again, there is no way people haven't heard about Bitcoin right now that even the president like Mr trump is talking about it.

The creating awareness idea is done and over already, unless you like to risk your own life over and over, even if you are getting away at it every time you will eventually become a victim.

There was a day I went to the bank to do some transactions, I was sitting with some young guys, who was discussing about bitcoin with his friends, he was bragging with his friends telling them how much bitcoin is in his possession, I was quite surprised, which I think it was totally wrong, and he showed them his wallets for evidence, that was a very wrong move because they don’t know if there is a criminal sitting there who can attack them to rob them of their bitcoin, because you don’t know people’s true mindset sometimes, we just have to be careful out there with how we flaunt wealth and our assets.
That's just next level dumb behavior. I remember being just that dumb in 2014-2015

I  remember thinking that i am not in danger because none of the people i knew with had knowledge on how bitcoin works and how they could steal it or even change it to money. It was during somewhere after 2017 when i started openly to spread a rumor that i had lost it all long time ago.

That's because of an opposite rumor was circling among people and they thought i must be a millionaire by now, even when i haven't spoken with that for nearly a decade. I did make money, but i was far from being millionaire.

Most strangers are reapers. With the rate of insecurity and fear spreading across boarders it is wiser to play the game of dumbness when strangers engage us with bitcoin information. Any stranger who instigate a conversation about cryptocurrency generally are out for suspicious missions mostly when the instigate the conversation and act dumb or uninformed.

Anyone who is busy creating awareness now is only endangering their lives and might become victim of harm, theft or death.  A lowly life is worth living in the society we find ourselves today.

What a sad news. People are desperately wicked and evil. We should take our safety serious these days as we never can people anymore. Mind the way you talk out there because you don't know who is listening to your conversation to know what you are talking about so they can attack you. If you have Bitcoin in your custody, try as much as possible to not let anyone know about it otherwise you could be their target. Avoid gatherings that involves Bitcoin functions around your residence or anywhere you are known for your own safety.

We might be able to avoid such publications. But it might be more difficult if the tracking of assets and data we have comes from hacking. Many of us might store all information and online activities on our phones.

People can become blinded when dealing with money, especially for those who live in countries where income is not high enough. Of course, this can trigger crime rates.

Why do I have to worry myself using peer to peer for my Bitcoin transaction?
People are even storing their Bitcoin on Binance and Coinbase and they always have access to it.

I don't need to live a privacy live as a bitcoin holder, bitcoin is more popular today and every knows about it.
Why hide?

A typical dumb mindset of many people today who don't even understand why Bitcoin choose decentralisation in the first place.
Here is why you should be serious with decentralisation and privacy.

https://x.com/Cointelegraph/status/2097335493499265481

Every data leaks in the hands of centralised entities are a huge risk to your live.
Getting killed for your Bitcoin has nothing to do with you been a very good person.

Just because you don't talk evil about others and you don't do evil to others doesn't mean there are no evil people who do it for a living, they watch while you get too comfortable, every words, every information you shared online, every crypto conversation you had with people in public place, your neighbour etc..  someone might be watching.

Practice OPsec and keep quiet 🤐 🤐 🤐 🤐 about your Bitcoin.
This is the same as making an announcement that you have a huge sum of money in your bank account, such person should expect criminals chasing after him. At the mention of bitcoin every one is think thousands of dollars even if you just have 100 dollars in your bitcoin wallet.
The main point is don't make financial disclosures expectually in public places.

Most people would say you can’t be too careful but in this scenario you must be careful.Last year and early this years a lot of news have been reported on different social media platforms about crypto attacks and it’s not a joke anymore, every crypto enthusiasts just have to be careful with who and who they disclose their bitcoin involvement to.Those attackers don’t really care if you’re only knowledgeable about bitcoin and have no bitcoin in your wallet, once you starting making emphasis about bitcoin in public they’ll just assume you possess huge amount of bitcoin in your portfolio so be mindful with the conversation you share in public in regards to your bitcoin holdings.

This is a good illustration with a bank account, but I believe the issue here is that we humans often give out more information to people around us without even knowing who really mean us well.

You can't go around saying exactly how much Bitcoin you have, even if you don't really tell people how much Bitcoin you have,  but if you repeatedly keep talking about how much Bitcoin you purchase, which wallet your bitcoin is actually stored or how much your holdings has increased.

All these information may sound normal to you but that's enough clue for someone.  Not everything has to be shared with strangers, it is just a matter of being cautious.

How dumb and heartless can criminals and scammers truly be because after killing the owners of the wallet, how then do they expect to get access to the wallet? Is that not stupidity in the highest form?
Since they killed someone but could not take anything we can say they are kind of stupid. They did not do any planning they just killed a person based on their guess. How many such incidents happen in the world. With Bitcoin most of these are not made public. There are many incidents where the police cannot even catch them. Only the ones that fail become public. Because a small number of such incidents become public we may think that these kinds of incidents happen very rarely but this is actually wrong. We should always be careful and make sure that we never show our address or crypto balance to anyone.
You're right as a lot of similar incidence always happen but in some cases, the truth are not easily uncovered and if the criminals didn't make away with anything even after killing the victims, then it is very possible ke for the police and security agencies to tag the incidence as an assassination case and if they want to get more clearer clue to the incidence, they should investigate  the person who said they came for the victims bitcoin because, how did they person get to find out the criminals came for bitcoin ?

Now as much as you think of everyone as your own, unique people may not think of you as your own, because such a situation has arisen that now one person cannot see the good of another. As a result, you may be attacked at any time, if you openly talk about Bitcoin investment among people, then of course you can be kidnapped. And Bitcoin can be demanded as ransom, in recent times, all these ransom seekers are certainly more secretive.
Because now if someone knows that you have Bitcoin, then they will try everyone to take away this Bitcoin, so why do you want to be a victim of others? So you should never talk about Bitcoin investment or Bitcoin holding in public. Keep the Bitcoin holding that you have secret, then you can definitely maintain it in the future with more security.

You are right.  If the crime comes as a result of online data leakage that got into the hands of criminals, you never can tell when they are coming after you because it is a secret they hold onto which they are acting upon to attack you. This is just the disadvantage of KYC and keeping assets online via third party exchange. We just have to be very careful and not keep too much of our asset's online.
It is true that crime rate is on the rise in countries with low income rates and this ignites attacks on innocent people by criminals just to survive and in situations as such one needs to be very careful and discreet about their involvement in crypto currency.

Keep quiet about your bitcoin, keep quiet about your wealth, don't be lousy, don't be the show-up type, but privacy is not truly protected in this time and age of the world. Appearing at a blockchain-related conference wearing a limited-edition Breguet Marie Antoinette wristwatch tells the audience how financially loaded you are, and they suddenly suspect you hold millions in bitcoin/crypto.

Wrench attacks are becoming more famous these days. You can also be quiet about your holdings. Let your tax report sell you off to your targets. Good thing they have caught two suspects linked to the incidents, one of is said to be the victim's business associates. Stay vigilant and stay guided. The world is a cruel place.
This is indeed true. It's not easy to be too careful. Many rats are actively waiting to steal from you once they know you're worth it. Many kidnapping and robbery cases are orchestrated by account officers. Bank account officers, attorneys, and lawyers do play a role in the bad things that happen to most wealthy people. It is a difficult situation to find someone we can trust.

However, we must play our own role in terms of security. The worst case is knowing the clumsiness is coming from us. Keep your mouth shut. Buy affordable things to avoid becoming a target.

At the very least, be aware of who you tell about your holdings so that, in the event of an invasion, your assets won't just be lying around. It will also be better for us to understand how important privacy is when holding Bitcoin because, in this day and age, people will do anything for money simply because they need it badly. As a result, everyone who owns Bitcoin needs to take their safety seriously, which is why Bitcoin talks about privacy. And am sure there people that you are safe with that you can tell them about your holdings and which ever as far someone will have access and your Bitcoin won't go to waste is a good one.
I don't understand how some people feel comfortable discussing their Bitcoin holdings with a strangers, or bragging on social media about how much Bitcoin they are holding just to gain popularity. They fully know that this puts their life at risk because I'm sure they have heard about crypto investors whose lives have been threatened or who have been victims of physical theft. We need to be security conscious and take our safety seriously, because not everybody is happy with what you have. You can share your knowledge about Bitcoin with your friends or family, but telling them that you are holding bitcoin honestly might be risky.

I came across a post that talked about someone that got robbed because he got into a conversation with someone that he told of this person about the amount of Bitcoin he had not knowing that other people were listening, on his way home he got robbed and was asked to them access to his Bitcoin. If you live in a third world country you need to be careful because a lot of people are walking around looking for any means to steal from others because of the economical condition of their country,  there is no point in anyone knowing about your crypto coins other than you, after all that's the reason why they are private.

To avoid this, you should not tell anyone that you have such assets that give you a large amount of profit. And comfortably fulfill your necessary work and if no one suspects, then start a small job for it so that people think that your income comes from this. If you tell people that you have so many Bitcoins and that you earn profit by using them in this way, then they will not take long to make plans for theft. We should not believe anyone in such matters except our family, which includes your brother and your parents, who will not even think of cheating on you. Better yet, keep your Bitcoin in a vault that no one will guess and if you are caught, no one will know that you have Bitcoins here.

Bitcoin provide you best privacy because there is no way someone can guess how many Bitcoin you have because there is no association between a wallet address and personal ID of a person. Unless you disclose, no one will have idea that how many Bitcoins you have. We must not only keep our Bitcoin asset secret but also don't tell others about out fiat asset because we live in uncertain world and we are not sure whether other person is our friend or foe this is why prevention is better then cure.

Many people show off their financial status a lot thinking that if they share their financial status with everyone, everyone will respect them but the main thing is that there are some people who cannot tolerate the good financial status of others and want to snatch money by harming them and in the case of Bitcoin, the matter is even easier because here Bitcoin can be transferred very easily without any kind of authorization. And it can be completely hidden, although it is possible to track the transaction, it is not possible to find personal documents through it, so many kidnappers target Bitcoin holders. So no one should never tell anyone about Bitcoin holdings.

Not only third world country mate, you can absolutely get morgued everywhere for having lots of bitcoin in your wallet especially when you show it off through any means. Not all Humans are the same and that's why even the most advanced places there are still cases of theft somewhere in between those perfect lines. And we don't actually have to tie this down to just  bitcoin alone because your financial life shouldn't be something that is open to the entre world especially when you are living in a place that is not well secure and safe.

Not just Bitcoin, but any form of wealth could attract those kind of people, and this isn't new at all.
I think it doesn't really matter if they are holding crypto or Fiat even jewelry, there are so many people who died because of flaunting their wealth that results to gaining the attention of those people who would do anything just to get money.
