Not just Bitcoin, but any form of wealth could attract those kind of people, and this isn't new at all.
I think it doesn't really matter if they are holding crypto or Fiat even jewelry, there are so many people who died because of flaunting their wealth that results to gaining the attention of those people who would do anything just to get money.
That's true and there was a story I saw sometime ago of a family that was robbed and what made the whole robbery surprising to the family was the fact that, the criminals were the ones directing the house owner to the places where important things were kept in the house and the family were very surprised so after the robbery, the criminals had to open up on their source of information and the family were very shocked because the criminals told them that, all informations they had was gotten from them because they were so open online so they got all the house details from their social media handles, this just have to make us take our lives and security very serious because we never can imagine who is watching for several reasons.

Security threats is not only limited to Bitcoin alone, those that even involve in physical business are mostly at the risk of such attacks, just that when the system is bridge we can't help it and the reason we must often times protect our privacy to avoid attracting bad actor's to ourselves such as armed rubbers and the rest.

Most rampant incident lately in my country is the case of kidnapping where, people sell out the information of their wealthy friends to kidnapers just to get a caught of the stolen bounty, this just the reality of things.

Since Bitcoin is so popular already it's time I start pretending like I don't need it, if someone especially a stranger ask about Bitcoin I will ask them to explain themselves, what is that?

I think that's the best method right now, no time for lecturing people about Bitcoin like in 2018 again, there is no way people haven't heard about Bitcoin right now that even the president like Mr trump is talking about it.

The creating awareness idea is done and over already, unless you like to risk your own life over and over, even if you are getting away at it every time you will eventually become a victim.
You can still explain bitcoin to someone without having to go into full details if you have bitcoin or not, and without giving details of how much asset you have, this is also part of being private.

But asides this, we should just make sure our asset are very much secured, it is a store of value and so it should be stored as something very precious to us and additionally considering the consistency, patience, discipline and self control one had to put together to be able to accumulate some coins, no one would just want to throw that away.

I don't see any need telling some one about bitcoin anyway you can tell people about bitcoin but never force them to invest in bitcoin let it just be a personal decision made by them. I also agreed with you even if you are telling people about bitcoin know the kind of people you tell and never reveal to them that you are buying and holding bitcoin, let our bitcoin investment be some thing private to us, also ensure a strong security to avoid getting your asset hacked by hackers, infact things are happening there are vital things we shouldn't tell outsider just for our own good.

Funny or impossible as this may seem it is actually true but the reason why some people won't take such warning seriously is because they live in safe countries. There are countries where people live their doors open at night and nothing happens, in those type of countries everyone has something doing that gives them an income, this is the reason why the chances of something like this to happen to them is low.

But regardless of that it is still better to keep your investment private especially off the Internet, there are people that post their portfolio online to show people what they have, if it is meant to be kept secretly there should be no need in coming out to show the world because you can attract unwanted attention.

Why do I have to worry myself using peer to peer for my Bitcoin transaction?
People are even storing their Bitcoin on Binance and Coinbase and they always have access to it.

I don't need to live a privacy live as a bitcoin holder, bitcoin is more popular today and every knows about it.
Why hide?

A typical dumb mindset of many people today who don't even understand why Bitcoin choose decentralisation in the first place.
Here is why you should be serious with decentralisation and privacy.

https://x.com/Cointelegraph/status/2097335493499265481

Every data leaks in the hands of centralised entities are a huge risk to your live.
Getting killed for your Bitcoin has nothing to do with you been a very good person.

Just because you don't talk evil about others and you don't do evil to others doesn't mean there are no evil people who do it for a living, they watch while you get too comfortable, every words, every information you shared online, every crypto conversation you had with people in public place, your neighbour etc..  someone might be watching.

Practice OPsec and keep quiet 🤐 🤐 🤐 🤐 about your Bitcoin.
All of us who are involved in cryptocurrency should keep our secrets. You never know when someone will come up with something. Maybe I am very simple and I have no problem with anyone, but if I am careful about that, I should definitely keep my security. Thank you, you have given a lot of good advice, but I can only say this much. I do not keep my investment wallet on my mobile. I have kept the seed phrase of my investment wallet very safe. Moreover, I always keep my secrets. I do not tell anyone around me that I work in Bitcoin and that I have Bitcoin. But from my point of view, I will say that everyone should maintain a safe distance.

Putting public informations out there is risky especially when it is crypto related. Nowadays people assume that anyone hodling Bitcoin or trading are financially stable, it is even more dangerous when you make it clear that you have a specific amount of Bitcoin in your portfolio. It is possible to get killed over the amount of Bitcoin that you have and probably due to the fact that you mentioned it online.

Privacy is very important when It comes to crypto investments. Some people try to explain to others that they have issues accessing their wallet and they go as far as disclosing the amount of money that is stuck in the wallet. You can ask for help or other people's opinions without necessarily telling them exactly what it is, being too direct can also be a problem.

This is nothing new, we have heard stories of this before. I'm just disappointed in those people who have refused to stop posting about their Bitcoin investment after learning how people have been killed simply because they were suspected of having a large amount of money in Bitcoin.  As for me, nobody in my family knows that I'm holding bitcoin, I decided to hide my Bitcoin investment from them for security reasons.  Trusting anyone, even a family member is at your own risk, and it's no longer news that family members now betray one another for their own selfish interests.
The problem most people normally have is showing off to prove they are doing well by having investments, and this just puts them at greater risk. Investments are meant to be private because they remain unknown, and no one can try to take advantage of them.

One of the security strategies for investing in Bitcoin successfully is to be silent, but many people don't know the power of being silent about their investments. They think having a non-custodial wallet means total security, but this works well only when one is able to make it private, because when it is known to others, it is possible to be attacked.
