Alright, this is important.

One instance that is vital for the checkpoint system hasn't been changed on version 2.0.0 (relative to blackcoins source). This is fixed in version 2.0.1 (https://github.com/pandacoin-official/pandacoin/commit/7e01e8c is the relevant commit).

Everyone needs to update from http://thepandacoin.org

is it possible to permanently unlock the wallet?

This would be not having it encrypted in the first place.

I am on a really shit PC and keeping the wallet open for more than 12 hours is out of the question for me

So every time I restart the wallet the next day i would find it locked again, does that mean i would not be able to properly stake ever?

You should be good. I would recommend backing up your wallet.dat and removing that re/moving the old blockchain data before updating.

No, just leave it open as much as you reasonably can.  You may just take longer, but the older your stakeable coins are the more weight you will have so it will work out OK.

Ahh, I see

well it doesnt matter if it takes longer than most people, as long as I am able to validly stake

Unlocking the wallet each time would be a pain though

The Daily Panda

Pandacoin (PND) has successfully transitioned to 100% PoS from 100% PoW!

Pandacoin (PND) had begun their PoW phase since Feb 16, 2014 and has been mined for 95 days. Pandacoin (PND) is now one of the rare PoS coins with such a long PoW phase, a duration of more than 3 months, to distribute the coins fairly out towards the community.

To read more about it, please check out our OP post here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=568529.0

Can I still mine Pandacoin (PND) directly with my mining rig?

With Pandacoin (PND) as a pure PoS coin, you would not be able to mine it directly. Instead, you will mine other alternative crypto-currencies and exchange them for Pandacoin (PND) through our ever growing mhs multipool. This way, you will be able to still mine Pandacoin (PND) from the multipool, and help increase the value of Pandacoin (PND) at the same time.

How does the Pandacoin (PND) multipool work?

The Pandacoin (PND) multipool automatically switches between coins to mine based on difficulty and price variations in order to be as profitable as possible for the miners. For payout, the multipool computes the proportional share of each miner over rounds that last four hours. Once a round is complete, and after the mined blocks become mature, the multipool exchanges all coins for Pandacoin (PND). Please note that due to the time required for block maturation, deposits and withdrawals on exchanges, payouts for a round are processed one hour after the end of the next one. The multipool also apply a fee of 1.25%, in addition to the exchange and transactions fees required by the operation

Proof of Stake Wallet version 2.0.1 is now available. Mandatory wallet update!

One instance that is vital for the checkpoint system hasn't been changed on version 2.0.0 (relative to blackcoins source). This is fixed in version 2.0.1 (https://github.com/pandacoin-official/pandacoin/commit/7e01e8c is the relevant commit).

Wallet version 2.0.1 is now available on https://github.com/pandacoin-official/pandacoin and as binary.

A few things to consider before updating:

1. You NEED to back up your wallet.dat. The software will automatically do a copy but it's better to be sure.
2. The wallet will take around 10 minutes reindexing so please be patient.
3. The wallet might crash and give an error after importing (Windows 7 has been tested successfully). This is okay - just start the wallet again and you should be good to go.

The wallet is available to download under the following links:
win32 standalone|win32 setup|mac|linux|src

PoS begins from block #136113. There are 16,489,268 PND left to mine before PoS implementation! Download our new Pandacoin (PND) wallet so that you would be ready for the PoS rollout!
