So when are we getting that shiny db

It is around the corner.  Grin

strange... i am using monero with lmdb for weeks... ?

That's not a good argument. You have ability to compile from DB test branch but all the normal Windows users like myself are still waiting for official build. If i recall correctly the missive released 3 weeks ago told me that DB "is a week away".

Per that Missive the initial DB *merge* was a week away, and that is exactly what has happened. The merges that are part of the DB merge began a week after that:

Right, because copying pasting to clone Bytecoin takes huge effort.  Maybe one day the devs will put in some actual effort and produce a functional GUI, LOL.

It's always worthwhile to stop and consider this, because even though it is such a silly, baseless accusation, there will be newcomers who are unsure of the veracity of the statement. A simple comparison between Bytecoin at commit 9682a15 (the point at which thankful_for_today forked it, lest we forget it wasn't us that did so) and Monero's current codebase gives us a good indication of how far we've gotten:

So 50 682 lines unchanged, vs. 178 361 lines changed and 238 407 new lines (416 768 modified lines in total) means that only 12% of our codebase can be attributed to "cloning" Bytecoin. Even better - the bulk of those unchanged files aren't even Bytecoin's, they're from epee:

Maybe one day you guys will stop buying / starting sock-puppet accounts in a desperate attempt to smear us.

MoneroX GUI screenshots:

This GUI is from last century?
Windows 3.1 Grin

MoneroX is entirely written by a 17 year old. What were you doing when you were 17?

Oh, my bad - let me rephrase: what will you have done by the time you turn 17?

And if that isn't to your liking, then maybe the Monero Core GUI is more up your alley. You can even compile the code and play around with the GUI (incomplete and not wired up, but fun to play with) - https://github.com/monero-project/monero-core

Here are some screen shots from this century:

Best of all, the GUI is native (Qt) and NOT a cheap hack using HTML.

Can someone help me with github? I want to build the tewinget blockchain version on my Mac.

Here's what I'm doing, but I know I'm missing something:

Code:
git clone https://github.com/tewinget/bitmonero.git
cd bitmonero
make

How exactly do I merge the blockchain branch and get it to build using Terminal?

Any help is appreciated!!

edit: git checkout blockchain maybe?

Conclusion

ChainRadar is either "accidentally" showing From Transactions, or it is trying to appear to have compromised Monero. Coupled with the sudden appearance of a troll claiming 20/20 transactions unmasked it is clear that something dodgy is going on. Avoid ChainRadar, and always check the data for yourself before buying in to what the trolls say.

So, it would be good to put http://moneroblocks.eu/ in the OP instead of ChainRadar. Also, it could be putted at Monero's official websit, because there's no way to find any block explorer at it.

its OSS anyway. and it is not a test-branch.. its just the dbbranch of one of the monero core developers.
if someone develops a rpc call i need i'd use that client instead of something official: whats the difference to the db branch?

(i think the word official is very strange when used together with OSS and esp. cryptocurrencies)

Yes!! Thank you fluffy and tewinget!

Anybody on OSX - no need to wait, just do the above instructions and then run ./blockchain_converter to convert to lmdb format. The future is here! Database is working great and using only 34 MB of RAM.

Crossposted from the speculation thread;

@saddambitcoin,   All I can build is leggos so I have to wait for the devs.  I would love to run a full node again.  I can use the CL wallet with no issues.

Remember folks April 18 is the one year birthday of Monero.  Please consider donating to it's development.  As I have no skills to offer I have donated and will add to that on or before the 18th.

So ChainRadar has "broken Monero's anonymity" by what exactly?
By listing UNMIXED transactions as ... "broken anonymity" ... seriously?
And that along with an orchestrated sell off and some provocations from a Troll with a DASH donations address inside signature made me sell out some DASH buying XMR instead - for a very good price.

Doh! That was originally not intended for Easter Day's action.

In light of the current events it might be a good idea to add Moneroblocks.eu to the OP or even substitute chainradar with it.

Is it correct that chainradar is run by bytecoin people or is that just a rumour?

Combining the two together, there were 22 927 lines of code over the first 8 months, which is 18 342 hours of work, so $1 375 620 worth of effort."

Just 1.25 lines of code per hour of work? Isn't that exceptionally slow?

You obviously know nothing about programming. Especially when it pertains to inherited and uncommented code.
