Is XMR launching an active advertising campaign? Smiley Isn't 50 cent's head the best place for it (always in plain sight). With the release of this film, the XMR rate will surely skyrocket to the moon. Smiley

You could also write on a billboard "Transaction fees are smaller than 50 Cent" and it would still be great marketing for Monero.

You mean averages a few pennies normally?

Honestly, I'd heard the name before but wouldn't have been able to put a face to it until recently when the P-Ditty scandal broke.  I'm not a big fan of that music genre, so I'm more concerned it might hurt Monero than help...

Wait, what am I thinking?  It's always been about cocaine and hookers, so yeah, great ad campaign.  Cheesy

Critical Monero P2Pool Vulnerability Exploited; Miners Lose Rewards to Hackers
Monero P2Pool exploited for critical vulnerability allowing attackers to redirect up to 80-100% of block rewards from unpatched miners.

Monero mining pools faced active exploitation of a critical consensus vulnerability in P2Pool starting June 15-16, allowing attackers to redirect up to 80-100% of block rewards from unpatched miners to their own wallets. The flaw affected all P2Pool versions prior to v4.16, which was released on June 13 following a developer warning issued three days earlier.

The exploit mechanism enabled attackers to take a single share found by a miner, replicate it thousands of times with fraudulent copies, and flood the payout window to siphon the majority of mining rewards. The vulnerability impacted P2Pool's Mini and Nano chains first before spreading to the Main chain. Miners operating unpatched nodes essentially had their hashrate redirected toward the attacker's wallet, though XMR already received and stored in wallets remained secure from the attack vector.

Your real late on this news and its been patched for awhile.

Pools will always be a vulnerability in any POW system.

I am hearing rumors that Kraken is going to play some kinds of limits on Monero trades, transactions, or something. I'm not exactly sure. Has anyone heard about this?

They are actually my exchange for what little trading I actually do. So I guess I need to know.

If it turns out that they are limiting the amount of withdrawals people can make from Monero held by them, I'm going to do a backflip.

Keep us up to date, I haven't used them in quite a few years but this is important. It would be nice to know where this is coming from as well.

It's been years since I've done any monero trades on a CEX, and I don't even have a Kraken account.  Aren't they based in the US?  It surprises me that a US based exchange still allows any monero trades.

The recent attacks on Bisq based monero trades is rather suspicious, I have a feeling it was...  Well, never mind.  I don't know anything.

That's weird. I was surprised no one responded to that bit of information. And I must have wiped out my notifications or some things I never saw that you did. I was coming here to answer some of the question myself.

So it sounds like the rumors are based in some amount of truth.  I haven't read their statements on this yet but that will be next but what I'm gathering is they are going to limit the amount of xmr that can be deposited and withdrawn and I've heard it will be $3.5k limit on deposits and $1.5k on withdrawals.  And it goes into effect sometime about three quarters of the way through August, I think.

I've seen some information on Twitter and Reddit talking about it if you want to search.

I do not know if once you've traded for Bitcoin or USD, if there are any limits. It doesn't sound like there are limits on trading.  So, I would expect some heavier bags may load up their accounts before the drop dead date, but I would suggest those people to find out for sure the nuances on the limits.

It also sounds like if you are willing to do more KYC type stuff, they will adjust the limits for you.

My completely unfounded suspicion is they're about to go public and this is probably something their lawyers are insisting on.

I actually think this would probably be somewhat positive for the Monero price and obviously the decentralized exchanges will become a major place for trades.

I do particularly find the asymmetrical limits disappointing because there's one very obvious reason for allowing larger deposits than withdrawals.

Obviously, decentralized exchanges are more cypherpunk in the first place, but I've also always assumed that you're going to end up with tainted Bitcoin that way most likely. However, I have some pretty strong ways of releasing those coins from their taint. Lol.

If I find out something more solid, I'll post it.
