Hello all, for some reason i can't get my wallet connected to the network. I've already opened the correct port on my router and firewall. 2 days of downloading the blockchain and then it just lost connection. running on a iMac. any help would be great.
Which version of Monero are you using. Please be advised, that 0.17.1.8 is the latest, only download it from the official source https://www.getmonero.org/downloads/that's what I'm running and that's where i got the download from Are you still losing connection or are you connected by now. If not, you can add a specific remote node https://www.getmonero.org/resources/user-guides/remote_node_gui.htmlstill can't connect and couldn't get connected to a remote node either Well then it seems that you have to check your firewall settings. Have you tried to connect with no firewall settings at all? I have tried with the firewall turned off and that didn’t work either. I’m really not sure what’s going on at this point. Ok, but you can reach the rest of the internet? Are you working on GUI or on CLI? Do you have networkwise any possibility to check wheter you can reach a remote node?

Yes I have no problem connecting to the rest of the internet on this computer. I am using the GUI version. I’m not sure how to do connect to a remote node outside of the program. When I tried to connect to any remote node inside of the program that didn’t work.

How do you rate this news? Is coloboration with Defi useful for monero? Haha this is a fucking joke right? What kind of a retard would do this? Just reading your linked blog, https://blog.btse.com/introducing-wrapped-monero/ ,points out every reason this would be moronic. This idiotic move would strip away every reason to own and use Monero ,even the custodial part! Boy they will try and think of any reason to shake your coins loose! Apparently they don't know the things that this is supposed to solve are already a part of Monero. Changing your Monero into a shit token of a centralized over bloated chain that is failing under its own weight is so far beyond stupid that anyone that even considers doing this deserves to lose all their coins.

Same happened to bitCNY. Genuinely it be a stable coin on bitshares blockchain, however there is a scam telegram channel speedily growing userbase, telling everyone bitCNY has now been ported to ERC20 standard, and that some airdrops be rained on joiners. Instances of fraud we see may allude to someone's trying to shunt the normal user flow to some scammy sidelines. Its clear to me, in this instance, that they wanna swindle rednecks of their XMR by dangling the non-custodial fancy before them: u lock XMR, they appropriate ur coins...

I think that Monero, as the most popular anonymous coin, should open its own decentralized exchange! (The source code of such projects is available on the net)
Collect all anonymous coins on this exchange, so Monero will become the most popular and central anonymous coin and, together with other projects, will protect anonymity.
I think I can add popular anonymous projects for free, add 10-20 coins from TOP100 for free and this will solve the liquidity issue once and for all!
P.S. Add SafeCoin - they have their own exchange, this will expand the coverage even more, add KOMODO - they have a swap, add ALIAS and get a POS coin,...

Or is Monero team afraid of other altcoins? I think the challenge now is to survive! And you can live if there is liquidity, use, where to buy and where to sell.

My question is if wrapped Monero transactions are traceable. If they are, I'm not interested in.
Why wouldn't they be? They are normal erc20 tokens. Real question shoud be are Monero transactions traceable because ciphertrace as filed 2 patents and are claiming that they have cracked the monero privacy. https://news.bitcoin.com/ciphertrace-patents-monero-transactions/

Wrapped Monero could be interesting in 2-3 years when the Tari protocol is ready. I think that Monero, as the most popular anonymous coin, should open its own decentralized exchange! (The source code of such projects is available on the net)

Or is Monero team afraid of other altcoins? The problem is, someone has to do it. Tor Hidden-Service P2P DEX Bisq is running very well. When Bitcoin<=>Monero atomic swap is ready it will be integrated. Most of the coins have unfortunately been removed due to insufficient demand or inactivity. Anyone can list an asset for a few BSQ. Maybe XZC will come again. When the Lelantus privacy protocol is up next week. Monero is the most traded on Bisq.

I have double and triple check the ports on my router, and double checked my modem to make sure i don't need to open ports on it and i don't need to or don't have the option to. Currently I have my fire wall turned off and have had one time where i was able to connect to a remote node and got half way synced up and then suddenly lost connection. then was able to start it as a full node and had two peers and was syncing for about 4 hours and lost connection and now nothing again.

the transactions will be on ethereum blockchain. so yeah they are traceable through any ethereum blockchain exploror. I am not interested either.

I honestly think that this is your internet connection or your ISP is blocking the transmission of the data. Do you have all your antivirus programs turned off or configured in a way to let the monerod dameon run? Do you have a possibility to run via a vpn service? ican recommend protonvpn based in Switzerland --> https://protonvpn.com/You can use a service free of charge for testing

I can't recover my original wallet. I set up my original wallet through the Monero GUI app where I sent my Monero. I copied all of the mnemonic seed (25 words with the 25th word being a repeat, the restore height name, etc.
I am working with someone of Reddit for the last week and have tried just about everything. The only thing I am managing to do is keep creating new wallets.
When I restore from seed it will not allow me to add the 25 words. If I put all 25 in and go through the process, it tells me "electrum-style word list failed." I then go back and take out the 25th repeated word and it will go through. But all it does is create a new wallet on my desktop with a $0 balance.
I have also tried going back on the restore height and also back date to the day before all with no luck. I still have the original transaction information from when it was completed through Binance. I just can't find the Monero anywhere.
I figured while getting help on Reddit, I would try here also. Thanks!
P.s. I do not ever remember the Monero balance showing in the wallet when I created it. I think the GUI closed and I opened it back up but there was zero balance. Binance accepted the Monero address and said it was completed.
