- Are implementing electrum deterministic wallets (code is already done)
I think I saw that this was finished and pushed already .. but can anyone please give a good rundown of what this is/does? Sounds pretty cool!

Well in that case it is pretty cool. Definitely looking forward to trying that out, from a paper backup. That would be pretty awesome.

Sorry, it is only for Mac OS X 10.9 (and hopefully OS X 10.10, but I didn't test that yet).
You didn't answer to the previous question: why not releasing sources? Obviously because they want to extract a 0.2% wallet fee and can't do that if people can just recompile with the fee removed. Another reason may be that the source is not clean enough to be usefully (or non-embarrassingly) released. I do not intend either comment above to be judgmental BTW, just explanations. There will be open source GUI wallets soon enough.

just a question, can monero be mined in windows 32bit now ? i remembered that it was 64bit only at first. There will be open source GUI wallets soon enough.
sounds good, can we get it within 1 month. Monero really need this for wider adoption. I've followed Bounty thread for GUI wallet but it seems there are plenty of tasks need to be done before one can be released officially.

Some people got a good price in the OTC topic (you can see the trades here). Also if you would like to see the trade history on the worlds first cryptonote exchange the full history is available here. My personal best 05.05.2014 5000 XMR @ 0,0006 = 3 BTC Congrats on your buy! did you get any other good buys or hold all of it? Looking pretty good now. I think a fair price right now is .005-.0075

Ok, I can't seem to get this damn thing to sync up. After some discussion with David, we thought about offering a kind of voting pool . This is made for people who want to get Monero to Mintpal, but fear, they can't use their BTC then to buy Monero. You would get a small refund (maybe at a price of 0.001BTC ) for your effort. This is intended to help smaller investors, who want XMR on Mintpal without having too much opportunity costs. This offer would last until 500XMR are left in the giveaway wallet.
We won't offer this to bigger traders or investors (like rpietila or pttx2). Why should you trust me? I am a member and Community Manager of XMR. I also wrote the installation script for Debian-based distributions and was author at the website, before It got migrated to static html.
So what are your thoughts about it?
PS: Here is my personal opinion -- please build your own: I would like to have a long-term natural growing coin, which has community, that believes in a "brighter future". Not a quick pump and dump or trader's coin, though for that we need a reliable exchange and one of them is Mintpal. After a lot of people mentioned their concerns about "wasting" the BTC and not having a good buy opportunity, this may help, but it could also make this coin to a pump and dump coin

I'm using windows. You are syncing, I cut a bunch out the middle so as not to spam the thread, but note how the "blocks behind" total is dropping. As suggested though, its much quicker to download a large chunk of the blockchain from the link on the OP rather than wait for your daemon to sync it.

A friend of mine made a simple experimental android widget. Its v1.0 and not really tested except by me. It shows: Price in BTC from poloniex Price in dollars from coinmarketcap Volume in dollars from coinmarketcap. Automatic refresh every 30mins and also refreshing by tapping it. He will soon add total market cap and total coins. And when we are in more exchanges those too. There are some ideas for more features... Right now its not on google play store but he will add it probably soon. Added. If you are interested download it from here: https://mega.co.nz/#!T5gzDRhK!vbPYvTgFStsUEBZUHuI5-13xw2GCLr6vw1LSpDl0sFoAnd please make feature requests or tell us about bugs. -Ok so now the widget shows total hashrate. -Added on google store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tr.monerostatusUPDATED2:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.msg7322514#msg7322514

Thanks for the reply. I quickly figured out that it was syncing but had to type "save" to actually save the blockchain. So I thought, hey, I'll download the blockchain.bin (like you just suggested) but it fails to open it and a lot of red text comes up about errors in some temporary files. 2014-Jun-10 22:31:41.265122 Loading blockchain... 2014-Jun-10 22:31:47.307467 ERROR C:\temp\monero\git-experimental\bitmonero-0.8. 8update-x64\src\common/boost_serialization_helper.h:82 Exception at [unserialize _obj_from_file], what=input stream error 2014-Jun-10 22:31:47.313468 Can't load blockchain storage from file, generating genesis block. 2014-Jun-10 22:31:47.410473 ERROR ..\..\src\cryptonote_core\blockchain_storage.c pp:74 Failed to add genesis block to blockchain 2014-Jun-10 22:31:47.414474 ERROR ..\..\src\cryptonote_core\cryptonote_core.cpp: 119 Failed to initialize blockchain storage 2014-Jun-10 22:31:47.418474 ERROR ..\..\src\daemon\daemon.cpp:164 Failed to init ialize core 2014-Jun-10 22:31:47.421474 Mining has been stopped, 0 finished
Thanks again guys. EDIT: I see the problem. I think I might have downloaded the OS X blockchain as I was going to use it on my mac first. Then changed my mind. Downloading the windows blockchain and will report back. EDIT2: Turns out I was wrong, I had the right blockchain. It still won't work EDIT3: Redownloaded the blockchain a third time and boom, works. Heh.

Ok, I can't seem to get this damn thing to sync up.
....
I'm using windows.
It may be faster to follow the instructions on the webpage and download a blockchain file first: FOR FASTER SYNCHRONIZATION DOWNLOAD A BLOCKCHAIN FILE:
Windows-64 blockchain (place in %AppData%/bitmonero) Unix/OSX-64 blockchain (place in ~/.bitmonero) http://bitmo****.org/ The only site you should trust is www.monero.cc and the only guys you should trust are the one from the core team (tacotime, eizh, smooth, fluffypony, othe, davidlatapie, NoodleDoodle). This is where the official binaries and gui and everythign else will come from. This is the guys that will deliver them. Other that are involved in peripheral and related projects: zone117x, Neozaru, LucasJones, Wolf`, Quanttek source: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.msg7098497#msg7098497Be careful when you use software from unknown members, a lot of people are preying for your bitcoins.

How do I calculate the amount of XMR I can make mining given my hashrate? I want to know if it's worth it for me or not. Go to #monero on IRC (freenode) and type Where XXX is your hashrate. Then you can type And finally you use a calculator to compare with your cost (electricity or VPS)

I see, do you think a final reward of 1 XMR might be just? I posted the suggestion in the Monero economy thread. We are still discussing it. Nothing will be decided on this without a MIP and a lot of discussion with the community.
