That links are VERY useful for us to observe the develop process and to help it. Should be sticky at 1st page of this thread. It adds a lot of ensurance that heartbeat (not heartbleed ) is being kept sharply always.

this seems a great coin, but CPU/GPU 1:1 is really a problem, those with GPUs won't be interested in it.
GPU's for Monero are more than 20x more efficient at mining than CPU's... No way. It depend of the CPU. The best CPUs are still better than any GPU : AMD Opteron 6344 --> 430 hash for 115 W --> 3.75 h/W R9 290-4GD5 - ASUS --> 437.5 hash for 216 W --> 2.02 h/W GeForce GTX 750 T --> 200 hash for 60 W --> 3.33 h/W AMD Opteron 6344 is 85.6 % more efficient that a R9 AMD Opteron 6344 is 12.6 % more efficient that a 750 T EDIT : Actually, dual AMD Opteron 6272 is even better : 3.91 h/W Hmmm, how about no? https://i.imgur.com/3ZSRtFb.jpg(I normally get 670h/s with my R9 290 at stock and 220h/s with my i7 3820) According to your power numbers it should be at 3.1 hs/W, and it's more cheaply an easily scalable. Gpu miner still has some good 10-30% optimizations left according to the developer. Smaller gpu advantage compared to scrypt though, that's for sure. Not 20x, not 10x, gpus are just 1.6x faster. I don't think we talk about the same. I was talking about the energy efficiency only, not the speed. The more you overclock, the less efficient it is so you may get more hashrate than average on an overclocked GPU but you divide many times the efficiency. Efficiency is not the best stat to have right now because the price of an efficient CPU is 2 to 10 times higher. The best stat and that's probably what you are talking about is the hash per $ when investing.

Claymores XMR GPU miner 4.2 now supports a no fee command with a 10% hash decrease.

It's not a propaganda&marketing pump that is trying to rise very quickly and die as quickly afterwards. It's a long-term project, price will probably rise a bit with increased hash rate and increased user base, all this will come when the tools will make it easy for the average joe to use XMR. Due to the strong inflation anyway, the rise should be rather slow. If you're looking to make x10 your investment quickly, go somewhere else.

Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's. This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

22k XMR is mined everyday, need 90btc to buy. But IMO majority of miners usually wait for price to rise. Monero will be in top 10 on marketcap very soon.

How can I set the username/password for the wallet for solomining? I can only set the rpc-bind-port in the conf file.
Anyone, please?

That's why we should consider monero type of currency the bitcoin complement and not it's competitor, If and when they could become somehow conjugated.. Exactly. That's why it will succeed; because it doesn't compete, it complements. XMR's competition is 1) other Cryptonote coins 2) bitcoin-based mixers (including bitcoin-based anon coins like DRK) Notice I did not say "threat"; I just said competition. Being the competition doesn't prevent you from leaving it in the dust Bitcoin as bank transfer alternative, Monero as cash alternative ? Very nice analogy! Cash does have serial numbers, don't forget. Let's say it is a nice catchphrase, even though like most catchphrase, it has limitation. So yes, monero is the cash of cryptocurrency - the coins, not the serial-numbers-encumbered-notes.

My rigatoni: OS: Windows 8.1
intel i7 4770 @ stock speeds [3.4GHz, up to 3.9 Max Turbo](4 threads): ~166 H/s -- Wolf0's minerd.exe PNY nVidia GeForce GTX 750Ti OC [+81MHz Core, +189MHz Memory] : ~274 H/s -- tsiv's ccminer.exe
274/166 = 1.65 , so comparing these 2 mainstream processors, running in Windows, GPU is 1.65 times faster than CPU
Intel i7 4770 @ stock speeds is more than 300 H/s with yam M7v I'm having a hard time breaking 200 h/s using M7v-win64-haswell on my i7 4770k using the configuration files suggested in the readme.

Thats great news. I urge anyone using Claymores miner to update and use the no fee command. To make it clear I have no problem with claymore being compensated for his work but 5% of all GPU coins is far from fair compensation particularly when he will likely be dumping it on the market. People don't be fooled by a 10% hashing decrease and think you are better off not using the no fee command.

Anyone, please? For solo mining in the daemon enter: N - number of threads You could use 'help' in the daemon to see all the commands (in the wallet too).
