It's much worse to wait in an emergency soft-fork situation, because you simply do not know what danger you are putting yourself and the rest of the network in. Incidentally, every other pool discussed it with me or in #monero-dev, and once we explained the situation they changed over immediately without waiting.

What would have happened if my pool did not have was a gateway to transmit blocks betwenn old code and new code?
Before my patch my pool is forked and get block per big number and message SYNCHRONIZED OK is present each 10 minutes.

And for information, on my pool all bitmonerod refused 4 block per week submitted per my pool .
Just after update mandatory bitmonerod as reject 4 block and make 2 orphan on just 2 Hour .

Yes my pool is not broken , just dead with update without my patch for waiting other node make update .

Sorry my pool is best for network . I have not include TX with fee lower off 0.1XMR 2H after commit . I have not wait 12H and 6H after get information off patch .

If i used my patch is only for my pool continue work for patience other big pool make update mandatory .

My patch as only not disconnect bad pool is not impact off network . Juste old bad bitmonord continue connected to my pool .

Incompetent developers who don't even understand the importance of avoiding DoS attacks now and in the future should definitely not be relied on. Also, please hire a translator/communicator who speaks English fluently, or else, don't host a pool. It's sad to see that you cannot even follow the steps which I provided on the previous page...

I would suggest boycotting this pool for now, as the admin seems not to care about the network's security.

This is not wallet, it's bitmonerod using big amount of ram. You can create a VM where it can swap, you can limit memory usage of process by using cgroups in linux and store the rest in swap.

You have to type "exit" in daemon CLI prompt in order to gracefully quit daemon. You have to bootstrap your blockchain.bin by downloading it and copying to %APPDATA%/Bitmonero folder. And also, hopefully in few months there will be database solution for blockchain. Yes, currently bitmonerod is greedy for RAM.

If you updated daemon, delete p2pstate.bin and poolstate.bin.

I'm seeing 32mb physical RAM, 5.82gb virtual, on my Macbook Air (that only has 4gb RAM). Your OS *should* do really good memory paging to virtual memory *if* you have sufficient VM configured. I'm not sure if Windows is super bad at this, but with OS X, as it is currently configured on my entry-level Macbook Air with 4gb RAM, I can get up to ~20gb RAM usage without getting much past the 32mb physical RAM used.

See above - virtual memory isn't the same as physical memory. If you're adding physical RAM to keep up then your OS is paging really badly.

HOWEVER...we are pushing ahead with the embedded database as quickly as possible. It's an incredibly involved and intense change, due to the consequences and edge-cases that may be encountered, but we are pushing as hard as we can to get it done as quickly as we can.

This is not wallet, it's bitmonerod using big amount of ram. You can create a VM where it can swap, you can limit memory usage of process by using cgroups in linux and store the rest in swap.

Keep up the good work team. I'm not a super techie nerd, but i know enough that programming this stuff can be a B!tch and is super tedious.
I may be "captain obvious" by stating my memory bloat and my unstable computer, but I guess the more people talk about it the more emphasis will be put on this problem.
At least IMHO.

Maybe with the XMR i'm holding (200), I will be able to buy a better computer

Yes I removed my temporary fix just after the main monero pool did the patch update. It's been over 6 hours since.
I'm sorry but I think that I chose the right decision for the network. I was the first to update, only 2 hours after the devs submitted the patch. Some pool waited between 6 to 12 hours before updating, knowing there was a mandatory update.
I used a fix only to keep my pool working while the other pools made the mandatory update.
The only thing that my fix did was protecting from a fork.
If you don't believe me, check and compare the block history since the update between pools.
At that moment, I was thinking 'why would I break my pool and lose all the miners for being the first to update ?'
What would you do in my case ?
Update immediately ? Wait ? Let the pool go down ? Try to fix it ?

I hope this help understanding the situation. There is no need to fight and argue about it. It was a difficult and stressful situation.
It is all over now and the Monero network is safe.

I already do that. I even removed blockchain.bin and NEW bitmonerod.exe won`t even start downloading. Just few Kb/s and that`s it.

I don't have the transaction or hash from MintPal, so I can't look up the transaction in a block explorer. How long does it generally take for MintPal to process XMR withdrawals?

What status of your withdrawal? Did you confirm it by link in email? AFAIK there must be a tx hash regardless of their daemon version.

I confirmed via email within a minute of performing the withdrawal.  By default they don't seem to provide a tx hash. Should I wait 24 hours? Or open a support ticket?

Look in the Transaction pool (you might have to click on "Show all" to see all of it). Do you see something that looks like it might be your transaction (in terms of approximate amount, time sent, etc.)? If not, and if you haven't received it, then they never successfully sent it and you should contact them right away. If you do see your transaction there, you can continue to wait a while and see if it confirms.

In general this is not the best place to ask about exchange support issues (you should just contact them) but I understand with the attack and upgrade there have been atypical concerns the past couple of days.

Restarted the wallet app a 2nd time and this time the transaction showed up. And yeah, I know that this isn't exchange support - just wanted to get some feedback since I'm new to Monero. Really appreciate the assistance!
