I think the pools are showing a too high network hash rate

PoW: 120 sec block target

PoS: 20 sec block target

the difficulty to hash rate mapping formula that I know goes like this

DIFFICULTY * (2 ^ 32) / BLOCKTIME

so with current difficulty of 25 we get

25 * 4294967296 / 120 = 894 MHash/s.

Are the pools wrongly using 20 seconds block time in the formula, overreporting network hash rate a 4 Gigahash/s?

Or are they basing their estimates on block founds per hour or per day, which includes PoS blocks every 20 seconds?

Christian you are right but I think it was a bug from the coin daemon. getmininginfo show "networkhashps" : 5287006833 currently so I think the pools get the stats from the coin daemon.

Btw what kind of logic is this when users can't register at official pool? New coin launches with interesting new hashing algorithm and concept, distance itself in the clone ocean out there, but many little details like this could keep new users away.

JackpotCoin Mining Pool.

Features

  -  PROP reward system.
  -  Stratum with Vardiff.
  -  Round earnings credited after 120 confirms.
  -  Payouts are processed every 15 minutes.

The pool has a mining fee of 1%.

We are accepting registrations: http://jpc.cloudminers.net

hey what do you think people should use for scan-time on your pool ? i asked earlier but it got buried fast Sad
i also thanked you for putting the pool up Smiley
firing up another machine to join in too..

edit:
almost forgot..

Quote
Automatic Payout Threshold
1 - 2500 JPC. Set to '0' for no auto payout. A 0.1 JPC TX fee will apply

it says that on the pool.. can we up that ?

I just "upped" it to 2500000

Just seen this in sgminer ..never seen that before weird.

Quote
accepted..
network diff set to 17
New block detected on network before pool notification
stratum requested work restart

and ya what happens on jpcloudminer if the pot is won ?

The reward is set according to the value of block received.
This means that when the jackpot is found, the total value is spread among the miners mining that round and according to the submitted shares of each miner.

Is there a pool without registration ? (fed up of registering all the time)
Actually, there should be only pool without registration, that would avoid the recent screw up (or over...) which happened on various coins when the pools started hashing before the official release... (well would minimise the effect)

Bounties 1.5M for a better new logo. 2M for an wallet icon set consistent with the new logo.

Reminder, 3 first working pools will receive 2M each.

I'm not terribly good at design but how about this for a new logo:

Quote

The center is like an LED display, it would be neat if someone could animate text going across like the jackpot amount.

We'd prefer something simpler, and it must be resized easily without looking messy.

Another strange thing I realized:

Yesterday I've mined a block. While solo mining, QT assigns that income to new address for security reasons.
Today I've created new incoming address for a pool. And vualia - in transactions I see that address assigned to the mined block! Is that normal? No other QT does that! Correct me if I'm wrong. Especially waiting for DEV's comment.

All Qt does that. When a block is mined, it assigns an address to it where it is mined, it is your own address the system generated. If next time you create a new address, the system will use it since it is already your address. Next time you mine a new block, the system will assign a new address etc.

If you were mining at our pool, please switch to one of the following two:

http://jpc.cloudminers.net/
http://www.hashharder.com/jha/jackpotcoin

Our pool was just set up for testing purpose and doesn't have enough resources to function fully.
