Glad you got it working. I haven't tried a setup from scratch lately. I'll attempt it shortly.
Ill say this , if the blockchain is not downloaded from the OP, and someone tries to sync from the blockchain , it crashes. first coin ever Ive seen do that consistantly. I still like this coin so I posted an article about it on my blog, as I feel there is still many that are not aware it exists; http://bitcoinlasvegas.net/orbitcoin-orb-500-interest-annual-powpos-hybrid/A fail safe way to syncronise is to connect to the core nodes only. They are always online and up to date. orbitcoin-qt -connect=seed0.orb.sx -connect=seed1.orb.sx Shut down the client when done, back up the data subdirectory and start as usual. The only thing to add is that you might want do this with a new or dummy wallet. That's my preferred method.

Guys I have a blog geared specifically towards high pos coins. I want so bad to use this coin and CANNOT get the wallet working. Im on the latest 1.4.2.2. Im not kidding when I say Ive tried it on atleast 6 different computers, mostly ultra high end with i-7's and 16-32gb ram. A fresh wallet with nothing in it will download and launch, and near the end it will crash. "Orbit coin has stopped working". Ive tried to downoad and sync on atleast 6 different computers and same result. A few people said to turn staking off by using different commands in the .conf file and appending the .exe shortcut. Neither works.. so what gives!?!? I want to list you on http://bitcoinlasvegas.net/category/highest-percent-proof-of-stake-coins/ badly with all the other high pos coins. Now I just learned its changing to Neoscrypt. As an owner of 250 mhs of scrypt, I need to get my butt in gear and get this wallet working and mine what I can while its still scrypt. Edit : FINALLY got this to work. Key was to backup and move to desktop wallet.dat. Download the bootstrap/blockchainfile, delete all in the data folder, unzip blockchain, sync, and put wallet.dat back. FINALLY. Posted this for anyone else having issues. Blockchain can be found on op. Vegas if you need a blockchain, you can download here so if anyone needs a fully-working block chain, from 21.11.2014 important you have used v1.4.2.2 of wallet https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0ENIPCOaLvNTktqZ2ZyblNlVzA/view?usp=sharing

I went back a few pages and you're the only one who's mentioned neoscrypt. ghostlander has posted recently, nothing about a hard fork follow the link http://www.dnb.io/Neoscrypt ahead ! posted 11/30/2014 22:41:06 Neoscrypt ahead ! Orbitcoin POW mining is about to change a bit passed block #1M. We will switch from scrypt to a brand new algorithm : NEOSCRYPT ! From the press release : [...] As Application Specific Integrated Chip (ASIC) devices transformed the world of SHA256 (e.g. Bitcoin) mining, ASIC devices for Scrypt currencies threaten to do the same thing. The technological arms race that this technology creates means that those who have invested heavily in GPU mining would potentially lose their investments overnight. NeoScrypt, a strong memory intensive key derivation function, was developed by John Doering (aka "Ghostlander"), a developer for Feathercoin and Phoenixcoin, to tackle that problem. [...] In other words : mining for the rest of us :-) Time for new gears ! Neoscrypt CPU miners and GPU miners already exists and are currently used for other coins, such as Phoneixcoins or Feathercoins. (By the way, dnb.io now has a PXC baby brother : pxc.dnb.io) I personally tested these two with success : CPU Miner (by Ghostlander) GPU Miner (by Ghostlander) Other miners might be out there, contact me if you wish to recommend one in particluar. Attention : to ensure that the transition will take place in the safest way, the pool will put into maintenance mode shortly before we reach block #1M. At this time, inserted shares for the current round might be deleted. We will be up and running again shortly ! and here https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/929-orbitcoin-orb-information/page-46I'm going to finish a wallet update in a few days, so Orbitcoin can switch to NeoScrypt by block #1M. I have also improved staking performance by 2 to 3 times already. We are going to contact all exchanges anyway when it's ready. My intention is to reduce the min. age for staking from 5 days to 1 day. Right now, it's a bit more profitable to keep 20 ORB inputs for staking rather than larger ones by following the automatic split/combine process. Let's suppose an input produces a stake when it reaches 200 coin days. If there are two inputs 20 ORB each, they spend 5 days at zero weight and 10 more days to reach 200 coin days each (20 per day). So, they stake about every 15 days and make 8 ORB in 60 days. If there is one input of 40 ORB, it also spends 5 days at zero weight and 5 more days to reach 200 coin days (40 per day). It stakes about every 10 days and makes 6 ORB in 60 days. That's a large 25% difference. If the min. age is 1 day, a 20 ORB input stakes every 11 days and a 40 ORB one in 6 days. Two inputs of 20 ORB each make 12 ORB in 66 days and one input of 40 ORB makes 11 ORB also in 66 days. That's an acceptable 8% difference. If you keep the staking process automatic with a suggested 20 ORB combining threshold and 40 ORB splitting threashold, an average input amount up for staking is 30 ORB. To follow the examples above, it stakes in 7.7 days with a 5% difference which is rather negligible. more support for holder of ORB great

I have killed all bugs I could find on testnet, so it's time to compile and upload the binaries. We need to notify all our exchanges and get the most users updated in time. There are 5K blocks left until the switch time, that's about 3 days.

v1.5.0.0 is out. Not all binaries are ready, but the most popular 32-bit Windows and 64-bit Linux ones are available right now.
Hard forks to NeoScrypt at block #1010K. Reduced minimal staking age (5 days to 1 day) will be activated on the 20-Dec-2014 12:00 GMT.
UPDATE: All binaries are in place now.

Ok says on new OP that SHA-256d is a new algo. Dont see any listings for SHA-256 pools. Can you please list pools. Is reward still 1? Update ok read again. POS is sha-256. Would it be possibe to implement a pow sha-256 pool? What about a multipool? All the good high pos coins multipool are at http://thepool.pw/Vegas

I want to make sure everyone knows that I just released my software called "Yobit pump alert". THis is custom software that uses an algo to detect the start of a pump here on yobit, the second it starts. YOu can even filter the coins you see by price. Most pumps start less than 100 sats , so you can easily filter the cheap coins, so they are the only ones displayed https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1945937.msg20241953#msg20241953

ORB went from Scrypt to NeoScrypt to be ASIC free. This release introduces numerous optimisations to PoS mining aka the Green Stake. CPU utilisation decreased by over than half (see RPC getcounters). My wallet with 1200 inputs staking consumes about 60% of a single 3GHz core. It was hitting 100% previously, so I had to reduce the number of active inputs using -stakemindepth what meant less profit.

All additional GUI functionality like block browser, traffic monitor, etc. will be introduced in the next v1.5.0.1 release after the switch. This one deals with the protocol fundamentals only.
If you'd like to see Orbitcoin in your language, you can participate in the translation process and your work will be included in the next release.

-stakemindepth is 10000 (confirmations) and -minersleep is 500 (milliseconds) by default, but if you increase -minersleep to 1000 or even higher, it will be fine at slightly lower CPU utilisation. It searches 60 seconds back every time, so iterating your stake miner every 0.5 second or 1 second doesn't make any real difference.
