So, in plain english MGW is a decentralized exchange for trading any crypto pair ( eventually ) ..
We just need adopters and liquidity to make it viable ??
Any fees involved and who gets them ( if any ) ??

Triff ..

MGW will have some deposit/withdrawal fees, (very little!) and those go to the MGW asset holders, that financed the developement of this system!

At this moment, everything is free exept the fee that the network charges (0.0001 BTC for depo and with)

Thank you for explaining! Already tried out the mgw on client, but it is too confused! Imo the surface should look like an exchange, then it would be a really success!

Trading mgw assets does look like an exchange. The MGW stuff where you move coins to and from the asset exchange is sort of like the Deposit/Withdrawal page of an exchange and they are all different.

No. the MGW is a way to transfer crypto coins to and from the NXT asset exchange so you can trade them. Think of the MGW as the Depost/Withdrawl page of an exchange. All coin assets you own are held in YOUR NXT account on the block chain. So, no exchange can steal them. You can trade the coins Peer-To-Peer, however NXT is the common coin in all there pairs.

Can someone give an update to the instant transactions feature.  That is the defining feature between NXT and every other coin.

As far as I understand Instant Transactions depend on Transparent Forging, which is promised to be fully implemented before the date of the first anniversary of NXT at the end of November.

Here is the development roadmap (Instant Transactions are still in design phase):

mczarnek is doing an implementation that was due for completion by the end of August but I think that has slipped a little as he didn't get enough funds to take a break from RL job and work full time on it.

There is info here https://nxtforum.org/instant-transactions/instant-transaction-proposal/ but it might be out of date. mczarnek talked through the ideas with CfB, jl777 and others IIRC and they thought it was feasible. Then the posts were deleted so as not to help others. I've asked for an update  Grin

James has InstantDEX (Instant Decentralised Exchange) which will be third party software built on top of Nxt for trading on the AE. It has already achieved a proof of concept trade of 5 seconds in April, with optimisation James hopes for ~3 seconds. It is almost decentralised as it uses MGW.

You can read more about InstantDEX here: https://nxtforum.org/instant-transactions/secret-project/

The first 4 pages are mostly a gif party....

...so you might want to skip straight to the announcement on page 5  Cheesy

https://twitter.com/nxtcommit/status/494159441252454401

Looks like DGS is set for implementation at block 205.000 - 210.000. The release will have to be before then to allow software to be updated ready for the new features at 205.000.

The 1st August was suggestion and rumour I thought, I never saw a formal annoucement for it from JeanLuc/Wesley.

Just to interrupt the party a moment...

Whoop!  Grin Grin

Looks like there is no catching CCEDK.com.   Grin

Keep voting at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=706537.0. This is to add CCEDK.com to trading bot platform that is likely to bring more volume to the exchange. Volume at our most comprehensive fiat exchange is a good thing  Grin

CCEDK.com (Crypto Currcency Exchange DenmarK) hosts the most Nxt/Fiat Pairs of any exchange. It currently has 7 fiat currencies (USD, EUR, GBP, SEK, DKK, NOK and CHF) and just annouced plans for RUB and UAH. This means that you can go from your home currency into Nxt in one step (assuming you live in one of these countries  Grin) You can also trade against BTC and LTC there, fees are low and you only need a username, password and email to sign up.
