We will probably have to first find out what the problem is if we want to put solutions into effect.

Maybe it is better to ask what the most important aim is that we want to chase at the moment:
1. Make it harder to mine this coin by GPU (more algorithms).
2. Coin needs to have a use --> markets or POT?
3. Investors must like the coin --> POS
4. Most innovative coin --> interesting for marketing

What do you think is the most important thing we should focus on?
There is 2 major questions that need to lead you.
1.Who's going to be interested in any Cryptos?
By my estimates not accurate of course I'm just guessing here there is between 10-20,000 people actively participating in the cryptos mining and trading. If someone has more accurate figure will be good to find who many actually.
That's your immediate market. Most of this people have some technical, IT knowledge and/or programming skills.
2.Who's buying and moving the prices?
I don't think there is that many big investors yet not at least outside BitCoin and LiteCoin.

So I'm really for   2. and 4

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Regarding PoS...I'm not a fan of it
Jonesd said something similar...

Just out of interest Jonesd and Obfuscode, in your professional opinions Wink what feature would you suggest for the coin at this stage?

We're basically looking for a way to have the network continue to support transactions once all coins are mined. POS is a way to do this, but it stimulates people to not spend their coins.

Proof of Take (POT)
I personally was thinking of doing the opposite of POS, where coins deteriorate over time if they are stored and not used. Part of the stored unused coins will be redistributed over the miners in this case. When a wallet has been offline for a long time and comes online again it can be punished with a certain deterioration of funds (1% / week up to maximum of 10% or something). In this scenario, people can also prevent deterioration by synching the wallet at least once a week.

This has the following benefits:
- Transactions can be free: This would make it possible to replace the fee on transactions with a fee on keeping the coins offline.
- Decrease only for not-contributing part: Active people are in the clear, but stored funds will decrease over time.
- No inflation: The coins get redistributed, but the total amount does not have to increase.

I would be more motivated to be part of the network in such a case!

Probably a lot of things to say against it, but idea is still in early stage. Smiley

I like thinking out of the box. However I do not like this idea. I think it would crash the price. I know I for one would dump all of my coins if this was implemented. Not using that as a threat just saying what I would do so I am guessing there will at least be a portion that does the same.

I agree, I like the innovative train of thoughts though, but i'd get out as well.

1. Make it harder to mine this coin by GPU (more algorithms).
I dont mean to keep banging on about POS but a pure POS solution would solve the GPU problem without the need of additional computing (more algorithms) and use less electricity (environmentally friendly).

How to distribute fees if the total when shared amongst active wallets is less that 1 satoshi?
^^Could this be a real problem given the rarity of the coin?

If so how about introducing a minimum and maximum coin day range to narrow down eligibility?
Or what if we introduced a transaction fee that became a percentage after a certain amount (1000 qb or something) rather than a fixed price?
EDIT: Ignore that, that would be ludicrous.

Also when I talk about POS I do mean it as non-inflationary, I certainly don't want to bring new coins into existence, I'm thinking more about fair distribution of wealth.

Do any of the pools support GPU mining? Or do I need to do solo mining? This would be done on my rig and I do not have a wallet on that rig so would I have to download one to it to make this work? Thanks

Me too Smiley Interesting ideas and honest opinions.

I was thinking of finding uses for coins and realized it is pretty clear that the most popular use at the moment is trading.

What if we would create a trading exchange where users get rewarded Quarkbar when they perform trades. These Quarkbar can be sold on the exchange or used for coin voting, lower transaction fees and premium functionalities. You will have coin markets in BTC and QB.

This is also something we could discuss with an already existing exchange.

Still waiting for an answer. Are there any GPU pools? Or do I have to solo mine to use GPU?

POS is in second place behind Experimental New Things and closely followed by Matt Damon.

I urge you to please please vote for POS before the time is over. It is a familiar concept with huge public appeal, there is no other quark algo coin out there that has this and it will give us a clear direction to start moving in.

If 'experimental new things' comes out on top then *we have to start debating what that new thing will be, then *we have to get it working which will take time.
Let new experimental concepts be tried on other coins controlled by the CRF, or better yet create a guinea pig coin and experiment on that.

Our all time high on Allcoin was 850 which came when DGWv3 was installed which we haven't broken since.
Let's push forward, we've made so much progress already let's not start chasing our tail now.
The forum went almost 24 hours without comment yesterday Sad

Let's keep the momentum going, let's give the other forums reason to take notice, talk about us and invest in us! Smiley

*we = Obfuscode and Jonesd mostly Wink

Thanks. I have a 4 GPU rig but it is only mining with 1 of them. It is showing all of them mining but only one to the pool. Any Ideas?

Never mind it seems like it is working. Just a lot slower to show up. It shows on the pool before my stats page on sg miner.

hmm, not sure why it would only show one.
I'm running (4) R9-280X GPU's and this is how my *.bat file is setup.

set GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
set GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
sgminer -k quarkcoin -o stratum+tcp://qb.cpu-pool.net:3580 -u USER.user -p pass --auto-fan -d 0,1,2,3 -s 1 -E 1 -I 16 --remove-disabled --gpu-platform 0 --shaders 2048,2048,2048,2048 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 12288,12288,12288,12288 -g 1 -w 256 --gpu-engine 1100,1100,1100,1100

I am now showing a ton of invalids. Hmm I will have to keep working on this I guess. This pool shows my hash rate but does not show invalids or valids for me. It also does not allow us to look at block info. Kind of a crappy pool

Sounds like you need the updated GPU miner that fixes the invalid share errors. You can get it from here >>> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=475795

I've put it on our consideration list.

The team will vote on the next meeting (usually during the Weekends).

If you dont mind that the reported hashrate is much higher than the actual (this does not affect payout proportion, it's just a display thing!) then feel free to mine at our pool.

We've had a couple of GPU miners before too Smiley
