For anyone imagining satoshi is one person, here's a hit to point out the obvious.

Read the 2008 paper, the author uses the term 'we' throughout.
This is either a verbal peculiarity inconsistent with the display of intelligent writing on offer in the rest of the paper, or... I think you get the idea.

Anyway, I know the source. It's not very exciting knowledge. My guess is that they drafted this paper with half a mind to use their real names but settled in the end on the mysterious pseudonym- good call on their part. Satoshi will remain in the shadows, because he's the hero that bitcoin deserves, but not the one it needs right now... and so we'll hunt him... because he can take it... because he's not a hero... he's a silent guardian, a watchful protector... a Dark Knight...

John we is the standard format for an academic research paper.

Exactly... and what this does tell us is that whoever Satoshi is, he's coming from an academic background. That's for sure.

satoshi was a guy from the future who came back in time to prevent a mass exodus from happening in 2140 by taking the power of finance away from the "horribly evil".

then he went back to an alternate future where he is a gazillionaire and has created a new world where anarchy rules and people are happy.

Well, my picture was not worth a thousand words it seems. I think Satoshi is the Charging Bull of Wall St fame. He mysteriously appeared overnight and changed the market forever...   Cheesy

(Also mods, thanks, can you also delete the 500 other posts about "zomg satoshi is not one person" etc? Roll Eyes)

Satoshi Nakamoto is Prometheus who changed his mind. After centuries of being torn by vultures in payment for having brought to men the fire of the gods, he broke his chains—and he withdrew his fire—until the day when men withdraw their vultures.

He is a man who said that he would stop the motor of the world.

And he did.

I'm not to scared of Bitcoin stopping the motor of the current world, it is building a new one, I'm worried about the programs that build upon it that come next

We knew about that a while back:

So you're saying Satoshi is John Titor? That's not very helpful, you know.

"We are all Satoshi" as is every Bitcoin and alt. coin supporter !

I was a very early Bitcoin adopter - I mined and sold over 12,500+ BTC before they reached just a few cents! I bought a slice of a rather famous Pizza!? and donated 500 BTC to the first Bitcoin Faucet. Got a bit lost along the way... logged out 2010... logged back in 2013... I did 'find' around 25 BTC (in old wallets and sites), which is better than none! <> BBR - CBX - CURE - DASHEMCGAP - GRC - LTC - MINT - NMC - NuBits - PPC - SLM - START - XPM - <> This is not investment advice! <>

I often think that Satoshi is the only one of us who's achieved immortality. I don't mean in the sense of fame and I don't mean that he won't die some day. But he's living it. I think he is what the conception really means. You know how people long to be eternal. But they die with every day that passes. When you meet them, they're not what you met last. In any given hour, they kill some part of themselves. They change, they deny, they contradict--and they call it growth. At the end there's nothing left, nothing unreversed or unbetrayed; as if there had never been an entity, only a succession of adjectives fading in and out on an unformed mass. How do they expect a permanence which they have never held for a single moment? But Satoshi--one can imagine him lasting forever.

"Satoshi" is probably not a person but a team consisting of PhD:s from several factultys (computer science, cryptology, math, economics)
And that leads us to the question whether this team are independent entrepreneurs or employed by some government?
The team members of Satoshi might work for government agencies or universities, but I believe bitcoin was their own personal project.

Although Satoshi seems to be an idealist, the actual attributes of bitcoin suggests the opposite:
-Satoshi owns a substantial amount of the coins mined (1,5 million BTC = 7% of all coins that will be mined)
-the mining reward model favors early adaptors a lot more than those coming in after a few years
-the deflationary attribute leads to hoarding as much as possible before 21 million coins are mined, which will push the price up

/\ya i remember the day i first met "him" i had been working overnight shifts on my security job for like two weeks straight and i was putting on my sneakers getting ready to go home....at first when he walked up to me i thought he was some homeless guy about to ask me for spare change or something, then i saw all these laminates hanging on around his neck and i was like WTF?-> i got down on my knees, put my hands together and said:

>> DUDE!!! ~ WE HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR YOU FOREVER!!!
