The difference between Rand Paul and Ted Cruz

So what’s the difference between presidential candidates Rand Paul and Ted Cruz?

Ted Cruz is running against Barack Obama. Rand Paul is running against Hillary Clinton. One represents the past. The other represents the future.

Both men are U.S. Senators running for president in 2016. Rand Paul is from Kentucky, Ted Cruz is from Texas. (Rand Paul is expected to announce on April 7, 2015.)

Both men are conservatives whose careers were launched during the rise of the Tea Party. Both are born again Christians. And both signed the controversial Senate letter supporting Israel. So if they have the same base of support, what’s the difference?

Rand Paul excites that base and motivates them to action. Ted Cruz has all but given up on that base and is focusing exclusively and only on born again Christians. He is betting that he will take that vote, and only that vote, and win it all. It is a high stakes gamble that counts on driving out of the way born again Christians such as Rick Perry, Mike Huckabee, Marco Rubio and yes even Rand Paul.

Bottom line, Rand Paul can win a national election. Ted Cruz cannot. Early polling bears that out. Polls can be fickle and don’t always reflect reality this far in advance but most polls show only Rand Paul close to Hillary Clinton in any of the battleground states. Not Bush, Christie, Rubio, Perry, Huckabee and not Cruz.

I think what you said its very credible and true (I agree) but generally you wan't to link to sources that are not clearly biased. ronpaulforums.com is clearly in on Rand Pauls side, since rand is ron's son.
Personally I think ted cruz would be a better president, the way that he speaks without a teleprompter, and I can just imagine him being president and representing the US.
Oops, I mistakenly linked to where I found this piece rather than where it originally came from which was at https://dougwead.wordpress.com/2015/03/25/the-difference-between-rand-paul-and-ted-cruz/.

Mr. Wead is a presidential historian that worked for Ron Sr as well as being in the GW Bush administration and is now advising Rand Paul going forward. It was a mistake to not link the original piece but even though I tend to like Cruz as a #2 guy, he's too pro-war. I'd read the full piece to get the big picture on Cruz.

I think that policies and presentation are both equal in being president. Yes, people want good policies, because that is what they are meant to do, change things, but the President MUST be good at speaking since he is communicating with other countries, and needs to keep those relationships. The people want someone who speaks well, loves america, and is confident. If they can't speak or present themself very well, people will be less confident in him as a leader and therefore might not vote for him.

I know that the so-called political "experts" in our national media tell you and me what our nation needs is more of the same. They look ahead to November 2016 and predict a showdown between two candidates with yesterday's last names pushing yesterday's failed Big Government policies. But if my travels to Iowa, New Hampshire and elsewhere over the past several weeks are any indication, I believe our media couldn't be more wrong.

I believe the American people are hungry to restore the founding principles of freedom that so many politicians in Washington, D.C. routinely ignore. That's why I need to hear from you right now more than ever. . .

You see, the March 31st fundraising deadline is rapidly approaching. Immediately following, I must turn in my financial reports for the first quarter.

All eyes are going to be on me during this most critical time. Can I count on your support before the End of Quarter deadline?

http://www.rand-2016.org/EQP-2015.aspx?pid=0326f

If anyone in the states supports Rand for President, perhaps you can send some fastfood money his way or if you have a larger portion of spending money, then do what you can for his (R)evolutionary upcoming campaign to change the US for the better. I wish foreigners can send money in bitcoin (which Rand doesn't currently accept) to help Rand but that's not the case atm.

Perfect time to invest in Ron Paul Coin.  Rand's announcement to run for president and his strong support in the first caucus (Iowa) will be a catalys for that coin to start moving.

Billary? She should be in prison right now. She just openly committed 2 crimes and as of yet not charged:

1) She used a private email server and address to do official government business.

2) She, after being subpoenaed for the emails, wiped the server clean.

1 & 2 are both criminal acts. If we still had responsible media they would be hammering on this 24-7 as their 'Breaking News' news byte. All I see is a sugarcoating. The fix is in.

She is covering up her role in Benghazi. She is a criminal and she is a candidate for President? Unfuckingbelievable. I guess that is now a prerequisite to become Scumbag-In-Chief.

This tour is where Rand shows off his organizational strength as most candidates can only do a 1 or 3 state opening tour. But, Rand has a top shelf organization with veteran political operatives in all these opening states.

Rand Paul and the Koch Brothers Are Having a Nixon-in-China Moment

...
In the last few months, that narrative has shifted. The Republicans who control Congress and most of the states are taking a larger role in the reform push. Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, who has co-sponsored a series of reform bills, is giving talks to black audiences that draw scores of reporters.

More than the possibly pernicious influence of the Koch brothers, some Democrats worry that their thunder is being stolen. “One of the great ironies for me, having spent all this time on criminal justice reform, is how the Democrats have basically ceded this incredibly important issue to the Republicans,” former Virginia Senator Jim Webb told Vox’s Ezra Klein this month. “Rand Paul's the guy who's been running with it.”

I think Rand is trying to do legions better than dad in SC and this is the start of it. He's doing it right at carrier and feeding to the militarists down there so this seems worthwhile atm. I'm not sayin he can win but competing is a big deal.

Rand Paul opposes GOP budget, says it’s ‘irresponsible’ to add to debt

Sen. Rand Paul used last week’s battle over the federal budget to reinforce his image as the top fiscal hawk in the 2016 presidential field, calling out his colleagues for demanding more military spending without showing how they would pay for it.

Mr. Paul closed out the Senate “vote-a-rama” by giving a thumbs down to the GOP budget, hours after he opened up his day on the Senate floor by ripping apart Sen. Marco Rubio’s push to beef up the defense budget.

“It is irresponsible and dangerous to continue to put America further into debt, even for something we need,” Mr. Paul said on the Senate floor. “We need national defense, but we should pay for it.”

Stand With Rand #LibertyKaraoke in a city near you (04.07.15)

These events are happening in most states all over the country and aren't officially part of the campaign but are fun fundraising social events that do coincide w/ the launch of the campaign. Each one has it's own facebook event page and you can find out the whens and where - http://www.eventbrite.com/e/stand-with-rand-libertykaraoke-april-7-tickets-16360513737. So, if you're nearby one of these events, get out and mingle/network with liberty minded people - those who are instantly more interested in alternative money than your average person. Kill two birds with one stone while adding momentum to Rand's GOP Nomination seeking announcement day. You could also just get rekt and sing songs and embarrass yourself too. Cheesy

Just a little background, these events have been thrown in the past near Washington DC to raise money for Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Justin Amash (R-MI), both libertarian-republicans Congressman and these typically trend towards the younger/middle aged crowd on average but this of course doesn't stop anyone who wants to from attending. All are welcome esp for Rand's events.

CBS Poll: Rand moving up as a voting possibility among GOP voters

Quote
Texas Senator Ted Cruz has undergone the biggest change since last month (interviews were being conducted for the poll when he announced his candidacy): 37 percent of Republicans would now consider voting for him, last month only 23 percent said so. Senator Rand Paul has gained 9 points since last month; now, 39 percent would consider voting for him, up from 30 percent in February.

Just wait til Rand gets his announcement bump next week. We all need to "rally round the family" and never let down, folks. Bitcoin=Liberty=Thriving=Rand Paul. Time to get serious my legions! Yeah, it's the standard post-announcement bump that all of them will get but this one will pale in comparison to Rand's next week especially if we all do our respective parts, whether donating, online postings in support, checking media bias in comment sections and whatever other respectable things one can think of. If you're from outside the country and think this is something that will affect your life and those around you, consider defending Rand in comment sections in different media outlets but just post positives in support and leave the "next of kin" candidates alone as the viewers and/or supporters of them will eventually flock to Rand as the long haul goes on vs. Bush/Rubio. We want Rand to be the immediate 2nd choice of the Walker, Cruz, any other perceived conservative that republican party base voters would consider. This is why lower unfavorables are so important.
