well, bought in late last year, mined a fair amount and seen several false starts on plans for CSC and exchanges that wouldn't take CSC because of the intended us in gaming. About the time of the post you sent me to....I just put my holdings away in the wallet until something good happens.
I really jumped pretty hard on this coin at least for me.
Looks like something is brewing, hope its just a block reduction and not a coin swap 10 for 1....guess we'll see as devs are doing what they want.
an earlier poster may have hit the nail on the head with the "Cure killing the patient' comment.
I never understood this as a gender swap coins, "take 10 CSC, and give-1 CSC" This only has to do, with the reduction of the reward to the miners. If until now for each block that you mine and/or you discover, you win 10CSC. From block No.1575000, each block that you discover you will only win 1CSC instead of 10CSC (as before ...) You can do the download of the new wallet and see the changes made here: https://github.com/casinocoin/casinocoin/releases (you must follow the instructions and in my case, the wallet only worked well after I uninstall the previous version. DO NOT FORGET TO DO WALLET BACKUP) and have about 20 days to mine @10CSC/block (based on the number of blocks discovered every 24 hours, in the last days) The new wallet is in development. Not for public use yet. Wait for dev announcement. @Beachguy, its just a block reward reduction, no swap.

Ajochems mentioned you can use the wallet but there may be some issues. Head on over to the Slack for more information regarding his release! and @beachguy Marec is right, just a reduction its not a "Stock Split."

So I rushed me. I apologize to the forum. I just divulged because no longer marked "Realese candidate" and red color, and happened to be in the "Latest release" and green color... Again, my apologies.

"Cure killing the patient"
I am interested to see what happens after the coin reduction. I think initially miners may not know about the change. If they are mining on their own or through a pool that does not update then we will be left with two different blockchains. Supposedly the longer chain is supposed to win but that can be circumvented if the devs convince everyone to use the new version...specifically the exchanges. If the exchanges do not agree with the change then we have a real mess on our hands. Arguably both sides have rightful claims...I'm sure the devs will simply state to the miners/exchanges that did not update "too bad" and move on...at that point the people on the longer chain can continue on their own with the alternate blockchain releasing a client with the older specs trying to convince people to use that version or cut their losses. The right way to do this is to code in voting on the change allowing the miners to decide what happens (see bitcoin) but that is not happening here due to this change being made specifically to hurt/punish the miners. I even came up with a viable dialogue of "extending the mining time from 3 years to 30" as a reason for the change as that seems nicer than what is being communicated and is ultimately what is happening (I think...have not reviewed the code). All of this is entertaining to me....but I can see it being financially harmful to others if they are not aware. Ultimately the end result might be a reduction to about 200-400 Mh/s on the new chain if that's the one everyone decides to end up using. I myself do not particularly like the new client as it relies on graphic drivers that not everyone has. Specifically it would not work in a VM but that may have been addressed in newer builds. It also required an "installation" which I don't like but I can get around that by installing it on a burner system and copying the exe. I prefer to use 1.3.0.0 but suppose I will have to upgrade if everyone agrees to start using the new specs (version 3.0). It appears as v3.0.0.0 (the one that reduces the reward) was officially released (mistakenly?) 6 days ago but no announcement has been made. I understand people have the best intentions but I can't seem to think it is not being handled very well....like I said....entertaining. Not sure if I should bother posting any longer as I am starting to feel like I am just being a downer but am just trying to provide guidance from experience. I have NO financial motivation even though I am a top 30(?) holder of this coin. I generally just hold on to all my digital currency other than LTC/BTC..perhaps hoping one of them will explode one day but doubtful any ever will. I can be blamed for not stepping up to help the situation but I honestly don't have the desire to become involved other than my random spats on the message board.

Well i actually finished testing for myself. I also now build and tested all Qt wallets (Windows, Linux, OSX (yes its back again ) and also the daemons (Windows, Linux). All build instructions (except OSX) are also in the Wiki pages. I feel confident the release is ready for the public. Probably GoldSeal will make the public anouncement one off these days and sent out mails to the mailing lists. If you want you can try out the wallets and please create issues on GitHub for any problems you encounter. You can already see the nodes running the new version if you do a getpeerinfo from the debug window. All clients should be running "version" : 80001, "subver" : "/LTSV3:3.0.0/" in the near future. And yes we are only reducing the block reward, not swapping anything. 1 CSC per block is theoretically still 120 CSC per hour which is still more than 60 BTC per hour. Yes i know CSC is far from the value of BTC but still ... I will not continue again on the mining and hash speeds as i feel that all has been said about that. It will sort itself out anyway. This is all about protecting the coin owners value and not harming it. The new wallet on windows does run in a VM, i tested it against a Windows 10 image running in VirtualBox without issues. Installation can be done anywhere and does not need registry settings to work, all necessary files are in the program folder except some OpenSSL libs that we are not allowed to deploy. They are only needed for the twitter feed and prypto services as they are protected by SSL. Not sure if people understand how much work is involved in programming, building and testing for all platforms. And yes, ... if people do not step up but find i do 'not handle things very well' i guess i better ignore future posts ....

Whoa...hope it was not me you are referring to?! I read back a few posts and I did not see anyone saying you were an incompetent software developer. The part where I stated 'not handling things very well' was in reference to PR not development! People use the term dev very loosely to mean anyone working on a coin not the actual software development of it. I apologize if you felt that comment was directed towards you specifically....I don't think anyone questions your contribution or skills!

there's no coin swap. It's a block reward reduction from 10 to 1 that should kick in about 4 - 6 weeks from now.

Correct, new version release that requires changes to the original specs requires the fork! Your coins will not be affected, if you had 1000 CSC you will still have 1000 after the fork. It is only the miners who will notice the difference dropping their reward from 10 CSC per block to 1 CSC!

I apologize if you felt that comment was directed towards you specifically....I don't think anyone questions your contribution or skills! I don't think CartmanSPC wanted to attack or offend you in any way, I for one do appreciate what you do for the wallet and I do have an idea how much work is it. Rest assured your hard work is appreciated! I think CartmanSPC said that he thinks that this reduction is unfortunate and will damage the coin and that the communication was suboptimal regarding this change and the future use of the coin. If that is the case, I do heartly agree with him. While we are at it, I am a miner. I have mined more than 200k in the last few months and am holding more than 80% of it. That said, I do feel offended by the constant anger and badwording against miners that sell their earnings daily to pay their bills. At 1 coin you'll certainly get rid off a lot of us. If that's your goal, it will be definitely work out as intended. I'll be watching, and since I have a lot of sympathy for the project I sincerely do not hope the chain will get FUBAR'd at <=200Mhs. Good luck with the change and please send out a wallet alert timely! My client still shows none.

I'm a little upset about the bad mouth on miners as well. A coin is launched and has to have miners, why do devs get upset when miners use the algo and specs you set? Without attracting miners.......there'd be no network hash and there'd be no coins.
I'm more than a little puzzled about all this. If a coin's community wants no miners just go pOS. *poof* No more miners.
Anyway, we'll go along with it to see what happens. I still mine off and on when the block release/network hash, diff and price are favorable. Smarterhash keeps us up on that.
I've always felt this coin had potential and the thing really holding it back was the problem of finding a good exchange. After miners a coin needs investors with some deep pockets.............and they're not usually on some the exchanges where CSC was.
Good Luck and Keep Mining!

Ok We've sent a notice to the Casinocoin mailing lists announcing the new release. The release is now official. Please download and try out the new client. BTW, Andre has also graciously compiled a new OSX client as well. This requires OSX 10.7 or higher. https://github.com/casinocoin/casinocoin/releases/tag/3.0.0.0Enjoy BTW, I'd like to thank Andre for all the hard work he put into this release. He continues to make valuable contributions to casinocoin and we should all remember that.

Hopefully this new wallet release will be the best on yet and thus be very beneficial for Casinocoin in the next days. As people are concerned of what happened to The Dao lately, this will definitely bring some attention into other alt coins like CSC. It will be only a matter of time before this gets up and running. Those who are smart might consider buying some cheap coins now. I will be waiting for the very first online casino (if there isn't any yet) to accept CasinoCoin.

That certainly looks great, but I was just looking for dice games where you can play with your Casinocoins. I usually stick to gambling in these games as well as slots, in which I end up loosing most of my money. But still, it is a lot of fun. Going into the mobile field for gambling games to play with your CasinoCoins would be very ideal. Imagine if you could gamble all the comfort of an Android/iOS app with your CasinoCoins. That would be pretty sweet but I think that it would take some time in order to see this become a reality. In the meantime, it would just be to focus getting CasinoCoin to be used among real and online casinos worldwide.
