this has happened on two occasions

it isnt a ddos attack because whoever is mining as "that other address" doesnt have 90%+ DOA shares...   i was getting 0% ploss and normal latency to host as well

How much memory does the server have ?

On guiminer, dare say its the settings you using in guiminer

When setting up the workers

the server from the drop down box should be others, then put your server name in host box change the port to p2pools port on your server which should be 9332

In the username box put your bitcoin addres in there and password time something random, choose your device and click start mining.

Hi all thank you for all the help but i am giving up on p2pool to much crap too try and work through being open source i thought it would have been more user friendly as there is no real doc's to help work through issues or to help prevent them. As they say so sad to bad!

Bitcoind needs atleast 2 gig of memory seeping on max connections settings.  If bitcoind is running out of memory it will affect most pool software. How muh memory does the vps have ?

Hi guys,

I need some help, im trying to setup my pool and got first problem. After creating bitcoin.conf file I should be able to start bitcoin by just typing bitcoind. when I type that nothing is happening, I get flashing cursor and and thast all. when i type bitcoind help I get cant connect to server. What am i doing wrong? I can confirm that .bitcoin folder is created, .conf file checked and is there with all entries.

If so bitcoind is running but in the fore ground.

use bitcoind -daemon

to put it the background, it will start syncing. bitcoind getinfo wont work straight away takes a couple of minutes specially on first run when its syncing.
