thank you, as usual with overclocking individual results vary I have 2 units that over clocked well 1 didnt improve much just a big increase in HW errors

Wow.  Shame.

I threw a Corsair 1250 (non-i, just the regular not even modular version) in and I'm rocking 218 and ~1.11 Th/s VERY happily.  I left the 6th PCI-E connector off the backplane, the same as how the unit was shipped to me ... not sure if having it connected was doing anything, but when one of my cards appeared dead I disconnected it as part of my troubleshooting and everything was happy so I just left it disconnected (and after reseating and moving cards around that card came back to life thankfully) ...

Thanks for the tip about them being the same chips as the S1!  I think I saw a 225 S1 setting somewhere so I'll try the magic hex from that to see if I can get her rocking at 225 ... will report back!

Yeah, 225/6386 thus far (30 minutes in) is giving me about the same hashrate (0.85% increase), and more than double the hardware errors (7.43% vs. 2.33%) ...

The only hex I could find for the frequency in the middle (221.88), 6306, doesn't take on the S2, so I guess I'm sticking with 218.75 until they release their official upgrade path ...

I'll desolder the speaker if someone can tell me what kind of screw head I need to pull the LCD board out ... though obviously I'd prefer a method in software, which survives reboots ...

I run this thing in my home.  My Internet does go out every once in a while ... usually in the middle of the night, and "BEEP BEEP BEEP" - this bloody box lets everyone in the house know when it does ...

The checkbox in the web interface does literally nothing ... literally - when cgminer starts up it says it has no idea what the option which that toggles even means ...

Any help would be greatly appreciated ...

Great job! thanks. Scored a very cheap ocz 1250w and the money saved went on a  fan upgrade - 4x  140mm Akasa  Viper Fans (S-FLOW)
Bloody hell! what a difference in noise level and air moved... remember the jet fighter you hear when the ant miner powers on? well thats flown..
would really recommend a fan upgrade as part of the overclocking

Mine have been running cool enough for weeks on the stock fans but I have a few extra really high CFM fans laying around maybe ill try changing them out on one miner and compare temps over a few days. If anyone has discovered any settings that worked for them that are not in this thread let me know so I can update the main page

Maybe someone knows why my network and pool settings resetting to default every time I reboot my S2? Is there any file(s) in which I can configure my personal settings by hands (since the system does not save settings automatically)?

Hi !
If you upgrage to the latest firmware from Bitmain website you can get rid of that problem.
The SD card where the boot image is stored is corrupted due to Bitmain's deployment process maybe.
I did it on 2 units, it worked, problem solved.

I was getting about an 1150 average on multipool.us before, and somewhere in the 1020-1050 area on Nicehash ...

Not sure if it's a coincidence or not, but I have NEVER seen an average that high after it settles down after the first few minutes, so I'm guessing not ...

That's @ 218 MHz btw ...

No, a 1250w Corsair ...

Hardware errors are around 24k an hour which didn't seem all that much worse than at stock clocks ...

So you did the firmware update and the clock mod. I'm thinking of doing the Kano upgrade but I haven't seen much info about the benefitsother then a modern version of cgminer.

Downside to using kano firmware is it overwrites all configurations files every reboot. Which makes the pools point back to his. I had deleted all the pools and only put in mine as the first and then last night after 24+ hours of running I noticed one of kano's pools got written into the second slot again and it was mining for him for a couple hours. I don't know what happened; could have just been a 1 time glitch/bug.

I tried just installing his version of cgminer 4.3.5 onto the original firmware but it gets overwritten back to 3.10 when it reboots.

Yeah, the increased hashrate on multipool.us with Kano's is coming at a big price for me ... 59.85% rejects on Nicehash vs 3.2% at multipool (I flip between both based on the price at Nicehash) ...

Looking at my graphs on Nicehash, this was not happening with the old firmware -

The red part is the rejected hashrate ...

So it comes down to -

~5% better hashrate on multipool but losing out on high priced periods on Nicehash with Kano's firmware, or, back to the status quo with an acceptable hashrate on both with the stock firmware ...


Bitmain support pointed me to the latest S3 firmware (yes, S3 firmware) to resolve the beeping issues ... perhaps I'll give that a go ...


Update: Just got home and my room is extremely hot, and the AC has been on all weekend, and it's maybe 18 degrees outside ... the room did not get this hot before ... I can't say 100% for sure, but I think the Kano build is also making the box run a LOT hotter, because nothing else in this room has changed in the last week ...

Update 2: Can't flash S3 firmware onto the S2, it's a .bin file and the S2 is looking for a .tar file

218 ... I can't break 1 TH average at stock so I won't leave it there no matter how hot my room gets! 

Haven't spent any considerable amount of time at the speeds in between ... I had an extra PSU lying around so the upgrade didn't cost me a cent ... I'm not sure I'd go spend money on one if I didn't have it sitting around though because they may tell us in two months that as part of the 2 TH upgrade kit we need to go buy x/y or z and any purchases made today could be rendered useless :-/
