Update from MintPal 13/07/2014 4:19 PM Announcements Please read the entirety of this post.
A few hours ago we were unfortunately the subject of a successful attack against the exchange. Our investigations have shown that whilst our security was breached, VeriCoin was the target. We would like to stress that VeriCoin and the VeriCoin network has not been in any way compromised. We have worked to secure the exchange and the withdraw process from any further attack.
As it stands at the moment the following applies:
1) We lost a considerable amount of VeriCoin in the attack, however we have been working with the VRC developers and all major exchanges to hard fork the coin at a position before the attack. This will allow us to retrieve the stolen coins and facilitate all withdrawals. We are also working with various exchanges to accommodate any losses they may encouter as a result of the required fork.
2) We are currently processing withdrawals for all other coins.
As I'm sure you will appreciate, our support channels will most likely be very busy over the coming hours/days so please bear with us.
We would like to personally extend our thanks to the VeriCoin developers and the other exchanges who have pulled out all of the stops to ensure that your VRC funds are safe.

Even a hard fork wont solve the issues. Cryptsy is falling fast, all the BTC that is exchanging hands can not be undone.

I thought that mintpal was the only secure and so reliable exchange. and, as you say, they will continue to "maintain" the security hole in the name of trading?!

Talking to Dan on there right now Awesome thanks for the update, so far it sounds like every message has gone through. every message is going through... its like an msn / irc type chat.. he is receiving the messages instantly and replying, there is no delay. What is most cool about this - is the messages are not going point to point. And so we know what that means

I hope some of you can get the word out better than I can haha.

Just to be sure, is it too early to update my storage wallet to version v0.9.2.40XCurrency-2.42? or i need to stay in version v0.9.1.50x11-coin-1.0 for the moment.

My wallet v0.9.2.40XCurrency-2.42 works fine on OS X. There were some issues which turned out to be related to another running wallet in the same local network (it wasn't XC one if that matters).

Step #1 - go to receive coins, click on NEW Address - call it "chat"
Step #2 - Goto address book, click new address
- add user's XC Wallet - press enter - right click and hit messages
- from field - click the address book - select the entry you created in step #1 above - to field - click on address book select entry from step #2 - key field - enter remote users pubkey
PUBKEY - to copy your pubkey and provide to users - go to the address you created in step #1, right click and hit copy pubkey
My Test XC Address: mgpkXSAbfmZ1tkqSVnSeMJXwJx77HyZ2up My PUBKEY: nCmoh5bt7ogWujBBQVT7NkpKGPGwLw35uqWCLKBNouL7
Happy testing!!!
Dan
Can also confirm that this is working FLAWLESSLY. The messaging is instantaneous. Feature request for future updates: - Urls are linked - Autoscroll checkbox to scroll to the newest message automatically - Files sending - Emote like skype, etc. Awesome job, Dan!
