It is planned for around this November in the updated roadmap

"NEM Foundation" has been saying this for close to 3 years  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Is this the 4th time, when we have to tell you something about project work?
95 % of all kind of projects evolve during the time they are planned, worked and tested.
There is no project, which is not "late", when compared to their original schedules.

All one has to do is look back through this forum to read all their broken promises and lies.

Sorry to tell you the news but NEM = fail bigly

Thanks ormin, always a pleasure to look at your analysis.  Smiley

With the BTC halving coming up around May 12th this year, the market sentiment is generally positive.

Not sure if this has already been posted and discussed, but Symbol aka NEM started a security program on Hackerone for all tools around the project => https://hackerone.com/symbol

So, if you find a security issue in Symbol/NEM products then you can get up to $3,5k for reporting.

This has been one of my favourite projects over the years. Although I haven't kept up as closely as before, I'm really excited for the symbol launch, even if it is taking longer then people were hoping for.

As long as the team can keep up the new direction, I think this can become a top 10 thing again.

Running a Symbol testnet just got easier. Smiley

NEM is now a payment option on allnodes.com
Billing > Payment Methods > Bitcoin and Altcoins > Pay with Crypto > XEM

~10% are hosted there.

Can someone help me getting the NEM wallet v2.4.7 running?

It is not connecting to any nodes.. I also tried NEM wallet v2.3.2 (windows) and it is instantly connecting to a node (I didn't open any ports or changed firewall rules for this).

Can someone explain whats happening here?

Isn't the whole point of HTTPS is to protect the user and his/her privacy? How can NEM claim to be a secure store of wealth when it doesn't even use the most basic of internet security protocols? NEM is not secure, that says a lot for being a "crypto currency"  Roll Eyes

Maybe because you are running it locally and therefore doesn't need HTTPS? It's just the browser extension blocking it even though it is not even using HTTP..

NEM Community Reinvigoration Strategy

With Japanese and Chinese Translations:

https://forum.nem.io/t/nem-ecosystem-community-reinvigoration-strategy/24913

Summary

NEM has a good community base, however it has in the past had a better one. There is room for improvement. XEM is still one of the largest cap digital assets in the world (top 30 of ~2200), top 10 for Q1 2020 in market cap growth. The community that supports it should reflect that and be part of working to improve the above, and more importantly adoption in general.

There is work to do to heal past rifts and to attract new members to NEM. The time leading up to Symbol launch in late 2020 is a perfect time to spend time as a community resolving these issues to ensure the launch goes well and the project is well supported beyond launch.

This is a suggestion for how we can approach the challenge and is intended to generate healthy discussion on how to move forward. The paper deliberately maintains a forward focus, we cannot change the past and will not attempt to, we can only focus on what is to come.

Announcement from Iain Wilson

CFO NEM Group

https://forum.nem.io/t/nem-ecosystem-funding/24911

NEM Ecosystem Funding

"We recently announced the formation of a single common governance framework for the NEM entities called the NEM Group (NGL). We would like to be as open as we can be around the use of funds and therefore would like to share that the NEM Group Trust has received a transfer of 394.151m XEM from Core Funds into this wallet. This amount comprises consolidated funding for ALL of the NEM entities and has been approved by Core. The wallet is overseen by signatories who are separate from the operational elements of the ecosystem and include legal trustees, a long time community member as an enforcer and members of the core team.

In the first year funds will be prioritised to:

Formalising and organising the software development, consulting and treasury management capabilities to be both more efficient and operationally effective.

Supporting and enabling the launch of Symbol as per the Public Launch Plan. This will include deepening relationships with exchanges and payment networks to ensure broad access and integration of our token.

Supporting a new community engagement plan designed to give both existing and new members opportunities to get more involved in both Symbol’s launch and it’s future development.

The funds remain in the Trust until a business plan and budget have been approved by the NEM Group board. All subsidiaries funding requirements are subject to scrutiny and approval by the NEM Group. All subsidiaries accounts are monitored and managed by the NGL finance team.

Whilst Crypto markets are inherently volatile we will seek to actively reduce the risk for NEM as well as give Symbol the best possible chance for wider adoption".

Jeff McDonald is the co-founder of the NEM Foundation. Jeff was one of the first members of the NEM community and has helped build the NEM project to where it is today. NEM is preparing for the launch of Symbol (codename Catapult), the second generation of the NEM blockchain.

Jeff McDonald shares recollections of the NEM journey to date. NEM was one of the earliest enterprise blockchains and began life as a thread on the BitcoinTalk forums before growing into a top 5 market cap asset with NEM communities all over the globe. Symbol (codename Catapult) represents a full rewrite of the NEM protocol. NEM core dev Jaguar recently published an update that unifies the governance plans for all NEM ecosystem entities to support one goal - the launch of Symbol later in 2020.

Podcast link:

https://bravenewcoin.com/insights/podcasts/nem-2-0-launch-the-catapult-symbol-is-coming?ct=t(wa-launch-zeitgeist-130520)

Key takeaway:

In building Symbol, Jeff says NEM have applied all the learning that comes from running version 1 of their blockchain in production for four years. Symbol is a more performant, scalable and feature-rich protocol as a result. It will become the core NEM engine, powering both private and public blockchains. Jeff says the 3 other blockchain projects that he sees as the most formidable competitors are Libra, Hyperledger and Ethereum.

No answers. Well, that was expected Smiley

The question was for getting the proof that scam projects do not have this kind of efforts and quality like NEM has had.
