Also, I think you should update the OP title regularly. It gives people a sense that BritCoin is constantly being updated without clicking inside to see what happens Cheesy

The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

Don't know if you guys have already read this, it's a news from 6 August 2014

UK to explore Bitcoin role - George Osborne
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-28670414

It would be really big if the government takes BritCoin as an official British cryptocurrency ( I'm dreaming haha Grin)

You never know. Haha Smiley

Would it be an opportunity to promote BritCoin to the government? Like sending an email to that government guy.
(It might not be worth the effort after all but I guess it's worth a try  Wink)

If it's George Osborne you're talking about..  I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him. Smiley

I think the less Government involvement and regulation the better, they have proven themselves to be too incompetent and short sighted with regards monetary policy.  But who knows what the future holds, the idea of BritCoin being made an 'official' British currency is quite interesting, it all depends on the terms though.

I will be updating the August whitepaper and changing the OP title and content later this evening.  I intended highlight our new Fiat to BritCoin exchange platform for a week or two, since we think it's quite important news, but I think we've got the point across. Cheesy

Thanks for noticing! Smiley

I know what you mean, although I tend to be lighter on them than most here because my mind's been corrupted by the dark side.  Wink

Suffice it to say that government is dogged by a lot of informational pathologies or dysfunctionalities. Many of them are subtle and counterintuitive; once learned about and understood, they also necessitate a run of binge drinking. Grin

Just a few points that may be of interest to the team:

1) Blockchain.info type app for Britcoin
I was speaking to Keonne  (@keonne) from Blockchain.info a while back and he told me that the software for Blockchain.info is open source and freely available so could easily be made to work for Britcoin.  In fact coming from the UK himself he's taken an interest in Britcoin so I'm sure he would be willing to answer any questions the team might have about doing this.  This would really be a killer application for Britcoin.

https://blockchain.info/about

2) DogeParty and Counterparty - Financial Services/Assets on the blockchain
I've also been messing around a bit with DogeParty/Counterparty and love the idea of it.  This could be another feature that could without too much difficulty be added to Britcoin allowing further applications and assets to be implemented using Britcoin.

3) Related Services/Strategy/Promotion
It might also be looking into the services of some of these companies that are involved with Dogeparty and the creators of Dogeparty:

4) Casheer App
This is an awesome payment app with altcoin integration amongst other things.  It includes a lot of amazing stuff - best to check it out in the link because there is too much info to put here:

Nice little explanation of Dogeparty from here: https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/30086/what-is-the-incentive-behind-using-platforms-such-as-xdp-dogeparty

Quote
What is the incentive behind using platforms such as XDP/Dogeparty?

ELI5: What can one do with XDP that s/he cannot do with DOGE? Is Dogeparty similar to projects such as Ethereum/Ripple?
If I understand correctly one receives 1 XDP/1000 DOGE "burned". How are these DOGE 'destroyed'? And where does one go from there in using their newly acquired XDP?

The DOGE are "destroyed" by sending to them to an address for which no one knows the private key. The address is DDogepartyxxxxxx... which is clearly human-generated. Calculating the corresponding private key is equivalent to breaking Elliptic Curve encryption (and if someone can do that, the whole bitcoin ecosystem comes crashing down in flames -- because they could compromise any and all accounts, not just this one).

Once XDP is created, there will be an XDP/DOGE market on DogeParty, just as there is an XCP/BTC market on Counterparty. Using this decentralized exchange, you will be able to trade your XDP back for DOGE if you desire. (This feature is currently disabled in DogeParty but will be re-enabled soon)

DogeParty/CounterParty is considerably more powerful than the underlying currency. It has an internal, decentralized market for tokens. You can issue dividends. You can place bets and broadcast information. For more, read about CounterParty. (The DogeParty code is identical, save for renaming BTC -> DOGE and changing the burn formula slightly)

OK to get on Casheer we need to post to their forums (see link).  They will be adding more coins on a weekly basis depending on community support so please register on their forums and add Brit - it is worth the few minutes it will take as this is the only way they add coins and as time goes on it will get harder to be added.

How about adding a tutorial to the https://buybritcoins.com  site so people with no experience in crypto currencies can see what to do rather than being presented with page just asking for a wallet address. The tutorial could include things like encrypting your wallet and backing it up. Also the page won't fill Joe Blogs with confidence when there is only an email address field on there a little more transparency here would be beneficial. Also having whois guard on there isn't going to help it should be a true contact. Unsure if this is the case for other britcoin domains..
