In alternative pool news: - Livechains were waiting for me to supply them with a full list of 10 coins - which I've done now.  They have told me it usually takes another 24 hours or so to get setup.  Obviously if it all works all right and I can bring in enough in fees to pay the server charges we could add more coins later.  Contrary to what I thought the Livechains pools do actually do profit switching automatically, so for example you choose the algorithm and they switch to the more profitable coin.  I've chosen these for the final list :

Bitcoin (SHA-256)
Fuelcoin(SHA-256)
Darkcoin (X11)
Global Denomination Coin (X11)
CryptCoin (X11)
Hirocoin (X11)
Litecoin (SCRYPT)
Vertcoin (SCRYPT-N)
Dirac (BLAKE 256)
N5coin (NIST5)

I went for more X11 coins due to it being summer and people (myself included) seeming to prefer the lower heat output nowadays.  The difference in profitablility of SCRYPT coins was so small that I thought it best to just go with LTC initially which seems most consistent over time and the differences between coins are very small in terms of profit.  Similarly the rarer algorithms are also there more as a test.  Like I said if it all works right and I can afford it we can add in more according to what is profitable.

Great news. When it is up I will mine in there.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

No definite time yet.  They said at least 24 hrs but I'm still not sure if I'll need to do any tinkering with it/need any assistance.  That's why I'm happy CoinKing is working - means there's no rush.  Their interface and setup is really easy to use and I've already got my miners on there until my pool gets setup.

Assuming I get the Livechains thing working well we could consider changing the coin list/algos to varieties that Coinking don't currently have so that it would be an adjunct rather than an alternative (e.g. CPU coins like memory coin, cryptonite coins etc).

I agree, we will have more control over which (more profitable) coins are mined, also some people find CoinKing quite confusing on first use, I sure did. Smiley

Might be useful to have a guide (with a link in the OP) to explain step by step how to get mining on CoinKing.

Will add a quick guide .pdf tomorrow morning, it's getting late here. Smiley  Thanks for the suggestion.

The problem with mining Bitcoin with a multipool is that, unless that multipool has a metric shitload of hash on SHA256, a block will never be found, and the mining is wasted. That's one of the major reasons why the smaller SHA256 coins are, for many miners, more profitable in real terms - because you actually get something rather than nothing.

Yeah bitcoin is pretty useless to mine at this point.

Noticed a price chart for BRIT - Is this another scam coin?

No. Dev is good and nice. Great coin and great dev.

I totally agree, seems a good coin and the dev is very good. There are simply too many people dumping the coins, and with the way it fluctuates its a day traders dream come true but this keeps the price down and lets it drop more

So is there anything planned by the devs over the next few days/weeks that might help turn this around?

Im going to give mining x11 a shot for the day and see how it goes on the multipool. Doesnt promise high returns atall but if it gets brit at this low price then it will have returns when brit goes up.

This was earlier, we were added to coinking in the PoW phase but because of some extra work in the stratum code it was never fully enabled. We're still added to the multipool for auto-exchanging coins to britcoins as of yesterday. Smiley

For those who need a little help getting started mining with CoinKing and getting paid out in Brits, I have written a quick guide to show you how, with pictures. Smiley  Couldn't help but notice the Tutorials page on CoingKing doesn't work.  Enjoy!

I don't think that's a good idea.  It's far too early for BRITcoin to be on Mintpal.

Wow...

of all the shitcoins I really thought this one would at least get a solid pump.

Nothing. Got to bittrex......and is bleeding to death.
If you call price slowly rising from a dump "bleeding to death" then yes it is. 24 hour high price went up and bids price went up. Sooooo ya wrong buddy.

its literally at 370 sat right now. People are trying to manipulate the price with low value sell/buy orders...lol buy 10 BRIT to raise to 440sat? is that even a penny? Also look at the depth chart. Someone could decide to dump 3.9 BTC and this coin will literally be worth .00000001 sat

The total 24hr volume is 2.6 BTC. and has been around this range for the past 3-4 days.

Nothing innovative is coming. All that has been received was a white paper with grammatical errors. Dev doesnt seem to be doing anything but waiting for an interview article to land, as if that would suddenly raise the value significantly.

Dev seems legit, but they havent thought this true. I wont be surprised if they become seriously de-motivated and just abandon this already dying coin.

Honestly guys, just sell while there are still some willing buyers. If you dont, please tell me how it will feel to be a BRIT bag holder in less than 48hrs.

Dont say I didn't warn you.
Okay. In 48 hours come back here and price will be higher.  Even in 1 week come back and price will not be below what it is right now..

Hi.

Im back.

Oh look, price is 237 sat with 2.06 BTC volume. Let me check last weeks price on the post above....hmmm...370 sat @ 2.6 BTC volume.

Now im not a rocket scientist, but if my calculations are correct, the coin's value and volume have LOWERED.

I see there is now a multi pool...hmmm..much help that did. Is the dev still waiting on other external factors to boost coin value (still waiting on that article? or did it come out and not do anything at all?  Roll Eyes) or has he admitted that he's got an incompetent inexperience team who doesnt know wtf theyre doing?

Tell me guys, how does bagholding feel like?

I'm not expecting BritCoin to be listed on MintPal any time soon, their voting system is pretty poor and I don't think Brit will be in the top 3 for awhile.  But we may as well make a start early. Smiley

You may not be a rocket scientist, but you sure are one angry guy. Rather then helping out the community you are just being a pittyfull hater, because you dont want to do the work yourself.
