Chrome Browser extension: MtGox trading bot

I wonder how people did this fine Saturday morning with the bots?

I know this bot is not a hi-freq. but how much did anyone lose?

I happened to be up watching the carnage as it was happening and I assume someone dumped coins and my guess is destabilized a lot of bots.

What's your source? I just installed this and am trying to learn how to use it. It can't be broke already!

Someone reported to me that the bot stopped working. I do not use it myself, so I did now know.

Anyway, I think I fixed it - you can update from the web store. You will need to accept new permissions, though.
I did not check if the trading API still work, but getting balance does, so I assume that trading should also work.
If not, please let me know.

I have not seen a single trade… Ever. Before and after upgrade. What am I doing wrong?

You wouldn't have for quite some time, the fast EMA line has been 'above' the slow line for some time.

The biggest problem with this is the amount of bars you need to pull is a lot a more so memory usage is much higher.

Basing off a prior post in this thread, I have updated the bot with the latest fixes and added 30, 15, 5 and 1 minute increments. As ErebusBat noted, it'll need to pull alot more data with more granular time so it'll use more memory, although from my own usage it doesn't seem to be too bad.

One change this bot would desperately need is to fix its handling of initial conditions - if you happen to be at an all-time high but with a downswing indicator, it will happily buy high for you and sell low.  Easy enough to fix but would need someone to show interest.  For now the simple workaround is to only enable the bot at the moment you'd want it to buy or sell (and making sure your MtGox account is in the correct matching state).  You can leave it enabled after that but it's that initial switch flip that needs fixing.

Another would be taking commission fees into account - the EMAs can cross very close together and while in a 0% commission environment that would be fine, in reality you need at least a 0.96-1.2% spread to not lose money, depending on your MtGox trade volume.

Other arbitrary indicators can be added, easiest of which is probably MACD and the 9% Exponential, which tend to track momentum changes a bit closer to the source than do the EMA's.

I have troubles updating though with the new version. It just fails to load and display data after x minutes. Is it just the load on gox or the update? Anyone else having the same problems?

I have something like that and I had change back to original 1 hour version.

If I change interval to 15 min for example, first it work well but after a while it stop updating and show only old data.

I've experienced serious issues with the fix, too. Sometimes interval changing doesn't work, sometimes everything stops working after reloading chrome... I'm back with the old one from the store.
Plus, here are some features that could be added:
-Other currencies (such as EUR)
-Buttons to force buy/force sell
-Time is only shown in GMT, local time would be better

As far as I am concerned, the times should be shown only in local time, not in GMT.

Please keep in mind that this was only a proof-of-concept project and since I do not use it myself, I do not plan to add new features, because testing it would need my time, which I cannot afford these days.

But if something stops working I will fix it - just let me know.
It happens because MtGox has a tendency to change their API without worrying about backward compatibility, and usually even without any notice.

yeah, that makes a lot of sense...

if you find any real bugs, just let me know - I'd be happy to fix them.
but what you've just said is just a baseless insult, and nothing more.
