Dashcoin holders -- a simple question. Do you feel that the developers of Darkcoin have tampered with your personal property (Dashcoin) and as a result, impaired its value? Yes or no?
yes edit: not just value, but it's future..time will come when some may say we copied it from DRK/DASH because we are using dash in its name, dashcoin will also be hindered from using dash as marketing in the future. |

When I first read about what Darkcoin did to Dashcoin a couple days ago, I was angry. Since then, I have come to realize that Darkcoin is made up of a bunch of bullies. I HATE bullies. As such, I would like to propose a community takeover of Dashcoin which I will lead. I have a gameplan which will begin with:
1. A formal request for the official twitter account from Darkcoin.
2. A formal request for the dashcoin.net website from Darkcoin.
3. A formal request for access to the official Dashcoin github.
Depending on how they respond will determine my next steps. I assure you I have a strong game plan either way.
We would continue to use this thread for a short time.
I have some coding skills but would likely bring in a friend who is much stronger than me.
We will use all legal means at our disposal if Darkcoin doesn't comply with our requests.
We must fight the bullies that have tampered with and reduced the value and function of our coin.
Any objections?

 For a while there I thought 'Finaly a BTC market!'. But unfortunately it was only that frankendash coin, not the real thing. Its is really a shame what this people are trying to do with this project. It was even picking up steam. Until that dump that came in suspiciously right before the bullying announcement. Don't worry, there are already two copies at least.  Great minds think alike. I had done the same thing yesterday. There is also a GUI you might want to fork (see OP)

I wouldn't worry about the trademark issue. There's no way its enforceable outside of the United States and likely not even inside the United States. There are already numerous established companies that are already using DASH, several of them technology companies. They don't own "DASH" and never will. |

lets make a 3d/2d coin dash logo thing..we already have a mascot, and we make a coin..these DRK marketing minions will soon realize that they need a coin logo and a physical coin, but they are barred by the words "DASH is not a coin" lol.. we make them first and perfect the designs later...this will be fun |

I have never posted or being on this thread until today and I only came because you had reasonable questions on the DASH thread and I was trying to be informative and clarify what I knew. I don't know what you are talking about but the poster you mention is just a member of the community.
I went through this thread and there was almost no activity here since last year, there is no need to come up with conspiracy theories as we would like for things to be friendly.
I understand that you are doing your utmost to avoid conflict and confrontation both here and in the Darkcoin thread, as evidenced by the following post. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg10767687#msg10767687 and this is of course very commendable and appreciated. Unfortunately I wish I could say the same thing for other members of the Darkcoin community. If anything, you may see a serious pump because of this rebrand, and be able to exit at a higher value. I know it sounds a bit hostile, but the entire Dashcoin marketcap is only 2 or 3 Masternodes. It will be the best thing that happened to you !! the coin is dead! from https://darkcointalk.org/threads/official-statement-on-rebranding-to-dash.4297/page-3. This gets further complicated by the legal situation. The Darkcoin Foundation is contemplating filing a Notice of Opposition to an application for a Trademark on "Dash" by a third party http://tsdr.uspto.gov/caseviewer/pdf?caseId=86377359&docIndex=1#docIndex=1. One way to do this is to show prior use. So if the Darkcoin Foundation can acquire the rights to "Dashcoin" and since the use of Dashcoin in commerce precedes that application date of the of the mark being opposed http://tsdr.uspto.gov/documentviewer?caseId=sn86377359&docId=APP20140829072944#docIndex=9&page=1 The Darkcoin Foundation has a good chance to oppose the third party application and claim the name "Dash" for its self. This of course hinges on one thing obtaining the rights to the name Dashcoin, It is here where the situation gets really messy and a very dangerous precedent is being set. The issue comes down to the ownership of the name "Dashcoin" Does the developer actually own the name or is he merely acting as a trustee on behalf of the broader community. In the latter case he has no right to sell the name to a third party. The issue here is the same regardless of whether the market capitalization of the coin is 6000 USD or 4,000,000,000 USD. It is a critical principle that affects every decentralized crypto currency. Developers do not control or "own" the coin. Of course if Dashcoin as a coin dies as a result the issue becomes moot, which of course is the simple solution for the Darkcoin Foundation. But what if the Dashcoin community takes over control of the coin as is apparently becoming the case away from the developer and continues using what is rightfully theirs, namely the name Dashcoin? There is already a precedent where this kind of community takeover of a coin from a developer has occurred namely with Monero. Then the result becomes that the Dashcoin developer simply scammed the Darkcoin Foundation by selling them something he had no rights to. This of course undermines the entire legal plan to trademark "Dash". Interesting. |

DSH is not being developed It was never really meant to be "developed", if you look at first post. It's just supposed to mirror the developments of bytecoin, without the massive premine. +1 being just a mirror/clone this makes the coin cheap, even without a very skilled dev this coin will survive....maybe someday dashcoin will take a different path and have devs that can make things better. |

potential devs can easily buy cheap to have a stake in dashcoin (plus donations) and continue the project...this the the most fair release of all cryptonote coins because windows and linux have optimized miners for GPU (both nvdia and amd) and CPU at that time...
dashcoins have an abundance of coins and stayed very cheap for a long period of time, a lot of people must be buying because DSH is almost always at the top of XMR market.
