TBH, I am a bit concerned about OKcoin, and all the stuff that has come out about them. The corporate structure and shady people involved, the lack of security protocols, the belligerence of Star Xu, the allegations of running bots, the exodus of all those executives..... doesn't look good.

Due to the extreme regulations on regulated legal compliant exchanges, dozensof Bitcoin exchanges are going out of business.By this time next year I can see where customers have to pay a fee to join an exchange or deal with an unregulated exchange where you could lose your money with no comeback. We are insured for being hacked and all fiat are held by a third party bank so your money is safe

Hi, i have a question, isnt International wire just like a bank money transfer? From wikipedia i get this:

Wire transfer or credit transfer is a method of electronic funds transfer from one person or entity to another. A wire transfer can be made from one bank account to another bank account or through a transfer of cash at a cash office.

So why is the fee bigger for visa and mastercard if it is essentially the same thing?

TBH, I am a bit concerned about OKcoin, and all the stuff that has come out about them. The corporate structure and shady people involved, the lack of security protocols, the belligerence of Star Xu, the allegations of running bots, the exodus of all those executives..... doesn't look good.

Do you have a link to any of this? This is all news to me. I've been away from trading for a while. Was thinking of sending a little bit to OKCasino to do some 20x gambling. Grin

There is a lot of stuff on r/bitcoin. I'm a bit lazy to pull it all up myself. But google is your friend. Wink

heard shady trading in okcoin, and although I don't like okcoin too, but any sample reddit discuss more shady things with okcoin??

any details link?Huh

I'll just leave this here. Bolded for emphasis. Thanks AceWallen for pulling up the link.

I have asked them to do a proof of reserves and publish balances managed by them - really hoping they are doing it.

the thing is, how much trust can you put into that? there was a reddit thread recently where the former CTO stated that Okcoin gamed the audit. here's the link:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/37tm1b/czs_statement_regarding_the_dispute_between/

Quote
I can confirm OKCoin removed a number of accounts (used by OKCoin bots) to pass the Proof-of-Reserve audit in Aug 2014. In essence, these bots trade on fractional (or fictional) reserves. Stephan Thomas was lied to during the audit. This is an unfortunate limitation of the proof-of-reserves method.

And also this:

Quote
Up until the time of my resignation, Star alone holds the private key to the OKCoin code wallet. The backup of the private keys were held by Star’s wife and mother, both of whom are non-technical. Such was the state of OKCoin’s cold wallet security. I have insisted many times to switch to a multi-sig solution. Star said yes, but always delayed the task.

Shocked

I think, you need to add 100bit.co.in. It is a great alternative to LocalBitcoins.
