I recently upgraded my s3's firmware what is with the new voltage setting underneath the freq setting? I run mine at 250mhz and have been doing so for 3mos now without a issue. What can this new voltage setting do can it give me more speed? I rn the on Corsair HX1000 PSU's So i got watts to spare

Have you changed the IP address to DHCP?
How do you do that? I don't know much about networking. Not sure what I've done now. I clicked on DHCP and can't get in the menu at all. Once you change to DHCP the unit will get a new IP address, so you need to check your network for the new IP address and log onto that via the UI.

The S3 frequencies are not set via the asic-freq file (at least for the latter firmware), rather via the file /usr/lib/lua/luci/model/cbi/cgminer/cgminer.lua (see instructions here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=699064.msg8370071#msg8370071 )

Make sure you set your DNS servers. Sounds like you aren't getting name resolution.

My friends, can 3x Bitmain Antminer S3`s make you $190 a month after electricity bills? I have a discussion about this here (below the video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXOZgLmbkHA

No, they won't make me $190 a month profit. But I have my 3x S3 Antminers miners in hand, they provide free heat for the Winter and I can resell them anytime I want and have my money back in hand. What will I have if your cloud based operation goes tits up?

Hi, I recently updated my S3+ to the latest firmware from https://bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=007201407180243004432lBQW28O0633Now I've noticed that the miner stops mining after 12-16 hours I've tested both stock speeds and 250M Miner Status: oooooooo oooooooo with temp 41 oooooooo ooooooxo with temp 42 as soon as I restart cgminer it runs for another 12-16 hours. I have no idea what to do. any suggestions?

Try default frequency setting and change voltage to 0725 and see it that works, otherwise roll back firmware to before Oct. release (that one won't allow the reset button to work).

The default IP address of the miner is 192.168.1.99, Username:root, Pwd:root
Overclocking You can overclock the S3 to 250MHz by first ssh'ing into the device, and then uncomment the 250M clock speed lines and making sure other clock speeds are commented out. The overclocked device hashrate is ~500GH/s at 250MHz.
I have tried 275MHz and 300MHz, and were no-go since the chip voltage in the S3 is set at 0.784V.
Run the following command from a Linux machine. If you have changed your device IP then use that below, instead of 192.168.1.99.
ssh 192.168.1.99 -lroot password:root
vim /etc/config/asic-freq Following steps are from allcoinminer. Thanks!
- Download putty from here first. http://www.putty.org/
- Open it and put your antminer ip address.
- Put root as username and password when asked.
- Then, type and enter the below.
vim /etc/config/asic-freq vim is a text file editor. The asic-freq file is opened now.
Type and comment by putting # in the default values and uncomment by removing # from the frequency set(freq_value,chip_freq,timeout) you want to set. Type to save and exit the file. Uncomment the desired clock speed as shown below now and close putty. Restart Antminer S3 and you are running now at the new frequency. config 'asic-freq' 'default'
option 'freq_value' '0982' #250M option 'chip_freq' '250' option 'timeout' '16'
#option 'freq_value' '1286' #237.5M #option 'chip_freq' '237.5' #option 'timeout' '17'
#option 'freq_value' '0882' #225M #option 'chip_freq' '225' #option 'timeout' '18'
#option 'freq_value' '1106' #218.75M #option 'chip_freq' '218.75' #option 'timeout' '18'
Results of overclocking
It wont work. I followed your steps and nothing happen, stills the same. Putty done saving using he !wq http://prntscr.com/5jwz4xAntminers website. (Still on 225M freq after rebooting.) http://prntscr.com/5jx2moPlease help me. Thanks advance and God Bless!!!!!

Happy New Year All. Despite living in a cold room here in England my anminer is insistent of mostly spinning the fans at 1680rpm. Temps are fine, 40/38 never higher. Frequency is kept stock at 225 but the noise is so loud from the fans. Is there a way to spin them down to perhaps 1260ish - it seems possible as they perhaps do this maybe briefly one an hour. I thought about maybe underclocking the unit? Played around in the terminal but couldnt find and fan settings etc. Any bright ideas?

Hello,
I upgraded the firmware in my S3+ today. The upgrade didn't complete -- the page telling me to wait remained up for more than an hour. When I finally did restart the unit, the red light was flashing and I could not reach the login page.
Now hen I restart from the power switch, the green light flickers a few seconds, then stops, but red light continues blinking slowly.
I can no longer log into the device at 192.168.1.99 Holding reset button for 10 secs does absolutely nothing. I tried switching the power connectors around. Tried a different supply. Have spent hours looking for answers, reading manuals and going over the bitmain site.
Any ideas of where to go from here? Is it bricked?

i explained all this on this sight but no one would listen.
the firmware is screwed up and if you don't uncheck the save settings box above your flashing file it will crash during flash and will be unbootable. i explained this to many people the other day and no one believed me thy thought i was lying. but now you are down. i have 26 s3's and my s3' were crashing many times a day thy were working good and then crash down to 40 gh/s i have been working on this problem for a month and finely fixed them. if you had flashed bitmains last firmware 1226 thats the problem and reset wont work and if you flash back to earlier program it crashes the miner and is un bootable. i am willing to enplane step by step how to recover the unbootable miner and flash crashing miners back to good firmware with success. bitmain is making tones of btc telling people the control boards are bad just like thy told me and i fixed it. it took me three hrs to set up and figure it out and now that im setup it only takes 15 minuts to fix a crashed s3's. if you want the help i can give it and in return it would be nice to get a btc donation for saving you tons of time and money but it can still be fixed

Try cycling through the freqs in the drop down menu. If your running at the stock speed lower it down and save it and then reboot the miner and go back to the original speed you have selected and power it off and on after its saved and see if that fixes the issue. If it does not under the freq drop down menu enter 0784 as the voltage and click save. Once its done power the miner off and back on after a few seconds. U MUST power the miner off! Dont just reboot the miner so dont be lazy with that step otherwise nothing will change until its power cycled. Hope that helps.
