For everyone calling scam, perhaps you should do some research.  Shawn and David, the two guys behind Storj and Maidsafe, are seen hear talking with each other.  They both have stated that their projects should eventually compliment each other...and the dev work for both is already progressing well.  I'm on the Maidsafe side but appreciate what Storj is doing...so do some research before calling scam!

Thank you for the kind words! We definitely plan on integrating with MaidSafe along with many other projects.

9,800 btc?  Shocked you guys are going for a $6m mkt cap, what kind of profit do you think investors are going to see with that kind of start?

We do not intend to get all 9,800 BTC. While immediate profits should not be expected by crowdsale participants, we plan on continually adding new features, protocols, and apps to grow the Storj ecosystem.

You will receive coins after your BTC transaction has been confirmed. It would be best to give it time but should it take longer than expected, contact us here or on one of our other sites and we will happily help.

Yes, they'll show up as a new holding of yours to the address you sent BTC from.

Will the farming rewards be based on a pos kind of reward system or is this irrelevant?

If it is the latter then the incentive to invest more is not applicable if one could mine as many while holding 1 sjcx vs someone who has invested more

Also if there was never any intention to hit the 9800 btc target a time based crowd sale would have been a better option, IMHO.. Just like what counterparty did

Cheers

as far as i understand dev wants to sell 70% of all coins for 9,800 BTC (~$6m) on crowdsale, leave 15% for yourself and another 15% for giveaways. you must be a fool if you are going to invest in.

Any additional coins not sold in the crowdsale will be allocated to the developer pool
i'm sorry but fuck this bs. stay away.
I really wish people would even take the 5 minutes required to reach the post or even our crowdsale terms. We are the first and only ones to do a community fund. 15% goes toward development, 15% goes to the community. As soon as its feasible(kinda want some structure before you transfer over 15% of the coinbase), we will start transferring the community funds into their multisig wallet.

tl;dr This I think will be the first real balance between the community and devs, and I think will really spark some cool stuff.

So now that the crowdsale is not as crazy we are going to be drafting and releasing a plan for that. It was never our intention to hit the 9800 mark. The idea is to make that available first, and then take the leftover to distributed through early mining, and future crowdsales for new Storj platforms(decentralized Youtube, Imgur, etc.)

So in this way we seed the network with some development resources, BUT ALSO computational resources which are just as important. So lets say we sell 100M SJCX. Out of whats left over we can set aside 100M SJCX for early mining.

What is early mining? Its essentially a phase were we really get to stress test and learn as we build the network. We adopt a model like Google where its ship, fix, ship, fix. This way we avoid two weeks(tm). We just add features one by one.

So lets say for example you contributed 1 BTC to the crowdsale, and we establish a multiplier of 2x. Then you can earn an additional 1 BTC worth of SJCX in early mining(its going to be like the old 2009-2010 BTC mining days).

tl;dr I really wish people would understand that we are trying a bunch of cool new models here, and they just need to take 5-10 minutes to read through our terms or really any of our material to understand that we aren't just another altcoin or scam. I invite you to check out our forums as well at http://storjtalk.org/

I'd also like to address one specific misconception. You will only be able to early mine if you contribute to the crowdsale, period. You can download the software it just won't work. The 70% of coins are going to be all distributed through early mining or through crowdsales. The coins will be distributed based on the amount you contribute to the crowdsale.

Bitcoin is a deflationary currency only by name, we are still getting to 21 million. Storjcoin is more concerned with distributing the coins as fast as possible as long as they add to the value of the network.

So the notation that the devs are just hoarding the coins are just wrong. We establish the premise that the coins are valuable, and the must be spend deliberately and carefully, but in all ways that give either the platform the resources to build(crowdsales) protocols or apps, or seed the network with computational/hard drive resources(early mining/farming).

tl;dr You will only be able to early mine if you contribute to the crowdsale, period. It will be directly based on how much you contribute to the crowdsale.

Please tell me specifically, how many BTC is you need?  If it is not 9800.

Otherwise, this is the second SWARM.

It would be very cool to see a working prototype of any of  storage coins. Would be more than happy to give them my BTC  then. Don't really want to accuse anyone of anything, developers might have the best intentions, it just can happen that the idea is technically too hard to realize.

Otherwise, this is the second SWARM.

We do not have a hard number for how many BTC we need. It is either we reach 9,800 BTC before 30 days is up or the time limit runs out. Of course, the more BTC we get then the more flexibility we will have in future projects and the more opportunities Storj will have. This BTC will go to hiring more people for the Storj team, marketing, and development of new protocols and apps.

When it will be launched?

The crowdsale began on July 18th and will last 30 days. Metadisk, our first app, is currently in beta and can be tested by crowdsale participatants. Once our second app, DriveMiner, is ready for testing, these participants are able to be the first to use it.

It would be very cool to see a working prototype of any of  storage coins. Would be more than happy to give them my BTC  then. Don't really want to accuse anyone of anything, developers might have the best intentions, it just can happen that the idea is technically too hard to realize.
We created a test currency on Counterparty before we actually created SJCX. If you would like a little bit of SJCT, post your CounterWallet address. Also, SJCX will be sent immediately after sending your BTC to our crowdsale address. Our app Metadisk is currently being beta tested and DriveMiner is soon to follow.
