Well, now, particularly, what we want now is to confirm if the addresses with a big amount which are not identified, belong to anyone that is reading us, or if are stolen or lost. For this reason we have copied here this list of adresses: https://www.ethercalc.org/FAIRnonidentifiedmorethan20000postmarch31
(43 adresses older than 31 march not identified with more than 20000 FAIR)

Please PM smartaction if any of this addresses is yours and after you confirm your ownership we will update this list, and this will help us
to finish our analysis. Please process your personal search as soon as possible in order we can advance to the next steps sooner.

There are not more people here that is owner of any of this unknown adresses?  Huh

At the technical level Thomas has done a development to make possible to recover lost coins from the blockchain, therefore all depends if we are secure enough about what needs to be done, and if the community support our plan.

i'm curious about the technical aspect of this, how this works ? usually they say that a recover for bitcoins isn't possible and for other cryptos they forked to achieve that result.

Perhaps its good moment to remember Mintpal,  not let all your stake in bittrex, and put there only what we want to buy or to sell  Wink

If you are worry about What happened @Mintpal then yes we have to transfer there (Bittrex) only what you want to buy or sell.
In my experience i did see the main exchanges go down due to hacks/theft by its owners a few times already, Cryptorush, then Mintpal.
We have to be careful this days but looking forward to buy some more Faircoins at Bittrex  Grin

Guys, as you can see in the link the sending was to multiple adresses. This is because i gave him an adress for every catalan coop investor that is related with this fund. As is documented in the statement we have received 79% of our mintpal faircoins, and now wait how to manage to receive the other pending 21%  Smiley

Thanks Thomas!

Guys, as you can see in the link the sending was to multiple adresses. This is because i gave him an adress for every catalan coop investor that is related with this fund. As is documented in the statement we have received 79% of our mintpal faircoins, and now wait how to manage to receive the other pending 21%  Smiley

So as far as i understood when they gave you guys the Faircoins from Mintpal there were around 6million missing?

Yes, in fact yet 6.6M , quoting from the statement these are the numbers of the Mintpal recovery

The Mintpal Wallet contained:                      14946903.112935999408 FAIR
The balance of the account data counted:   21787698.41457512 FAIR
Faircoins withdrawed in mintpal v2:               -243666,36021 FAIR
Coins missing:                                               -6597129,30163912

1905649,03528786 from smartaction
4691480,26635124          unclaimed

I see, so someone from MintpalV1/V2 stole those coins?

In the statement also appears our thesis about it:

Quote
The most probably option is that Mintpal V1 suffered in the early days of faircoin in mintpal, (march 31 - april 8 ; when faircoin had unvoluntary hard forks) from a block chain fork, a bug or a hack. If this is true, they credited coins to the balance of users when they actually shouldn't have.

so, is not probably that the coins was stolen, but a technical fault.
in fact right now there are only about 3.3M without being identified (the 40 adresses pending), post mintpal begining. Therefore,  the coins are mostly lost in adresses older than mintpal, what could be linked with a hard fork problem or some bugs...

If I remember correctly (those are dark memories..), at that point there was some sort of fork (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=487212.msg5971687#msg5971687), completely invalidating the transactions on that exchange.
With that in mind, you shouldn't be able to see that on the current blockchain - since in our future, it never happened Smiley
It could be however that some of the original coins are still in the wallets of the exchange (as at some point they may have decided to go back to the real blockchain) - if they even have that wallet still on file. There are some addresses close to that period that didn't have any transactions or haven't minted since that time. Three of them only have 1 transaction.

It might be interesting chatting with them - not sure how they'll respond though Tongue

If I remember correctly (those are dark memories..), at that point there was a backwards fork, completely invalidating the transactions on that exchange.

I believe that these hard fork coins disappeared from the wallets (by standard block chain reorganization mechanisms) but not from the database from the exchange(s), thus the difference:

Mintpal wallet: 14946903.112935999408 FAIR
Mintpal database: 21787698.41457512 FAIR

No way Ryan took them: there are simply no such transactions that would debit such an amount.

So, I suspect it was either a bug in the exchange software or they just didn't resolve the issue intentionally or unintentionally...

If I were right, Mintpal would have increased the money supply of FairCoin by 6840795,301639121. These coins were traded, but did never every exist.

My personal opinion is that there is nothing more to recover, because we can not recover what has never existed. These are 'ghost coins'.

Yes, this could be...
i was researching in this thread and also get this post and others days after...

As a summary
- someone created a hard fork around 27/03 to scam in nxt-e.com. and dumped 5.5 M not existend
(he minted the coins from 0, deposited in nxt-e and dump it for BTC and withdrawed the BTC)
as a result ntx-e had a balance of -5.5 FAIR and was claiming to the old faircoin dev, to get a solution.

- in this old thread no appears information about a solution neither appears people claiming that they lost their coins in ntx-e.com (these coins was frozen some days, and after was withdrawed.,and days after appears information about people withdrawing faircoins
from nxt-e.com.

- In a statement of 30/3 that is not in the faircoin thread but in https://nxt-e.com/news.aspx
they claim that they solved the problem, tanks to anonymous investors,  buying back faircoins in other exchanges...and begun withdrawal
until April 7.

- Mintpal begun at 31/3

- April 7  ntx-e.com close withdrawals, they claim that destroyed their faircoin wallet and there are not more information.
How they really  solve their problem is yet an enigma  Huh

Therefore a possible hypothesis could be that nxt-e.com was able to make the same play to mintpal, and mintpal dont get it.
So users was able to withdraw nonexistent coins from nxt-e to mintpal (because mintpal was the mainstream exchange from the beginning), and users was used to withdraw to mintpal.

For this could be possible that mintpal had balances of non existant coins.

Anyway this is only a hyphotesis, we need to get some proof or more data, and perhaps study better the blockchain
for the days 29/03 and 30/03 to confirm or not, if its possible that nxt-e bought 5500000 faircoins in other exchange (only possible poloniex, because bittrex at this moment dont have enough volume i gues...)

possible questions for older faircoin users
-Anyone here, was able to withdraw from nxt-e to  mintpal? if yes, have any data of this withdrawal?
-Anyone here was able to withdraw from nxt-e to their wallet after 29/3, and have the transaction (this is easier because you could have the info in your wallet.
- have you any data of poloniex trading in 29-30/03

thanks..

This was an event even before the Mintpal mayhem - not talking about Ryan here:) This occured on NXT-e with a probable fake fork of FairCoin. So their database + wallet got totally mixed up. My assumption is that they left FairCoin for dead after that, eventhough they still may have a FairCoin wallet.dat somewhere - or not.. Smiley

Nice that we're there, but FAC is the wrong currency symbol.
This should be FAIR.
