Good Evening. I am trying to Be able to understand the Bitcoin Forum. I was trying to reply on a Bounty Board. But it told me i was a newbie and had to be Imposter for trying to reply to Someone who is Higher Rank. So is ok to reply on a thread. Even though i am a Newbie. I am sorry to Disturb you. Just trying to get a better understanding of what i am allowed to do. Thanks
As far as I'm aware this imposter warning is only shown in PMs just as a precaution. It shouldn't show up when you post publicly unless you have screenshots to prove otherwise. So yes you should be allowed to reply to a thread providing it follows the rules in the op of this one.

No but if the announcement thread that you'll be posting includes images, those would be turned to links (temporarily until your rank becomes Jr.).
You can get rid of this limitation by purchasing Copper Membership: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2385104.0

Is it allowed to ask a full or hero member to post an announcement topic on our behalf from his account? Should there be a disclaimer for doing so? I know that ICOcountdown.com is doing this very often and it doesn't seem to be a problem, but we want to be sure. Thank you.

I know that ICOcountdown.com is doing this very often and it doesn't seem to be a problem, but we want to be sure. It's allowed but you have to be careful not to spam people through the PM system with requests. If the person has shown an interest in the project then it should be OK. Also, have a look at the Copper Membership as that allows posting images and removes the need to get a higher ranked account to post for you.

Thank you for your answer. I haven't even thought about spamming people with PMs, but good to know I guess. The main reason to use our friend for the announcement is that hero members give more confidence to other users.

as we all know, when we register a new account, that new account sometimes are unable to post because her IP address is considered "evil".
is this evaluation of IP evilness done at registration time only, or everytime the user logs in? for example, suppose we get a clean IP (IP 1) and the new user can post. then later on the new user logs in from a known evil IP (IP 2). does this make the user unable to post again? or she will continue to be able to post no matter from which IP she logs on in the future?

The payment is just a one off fee at registration for users who create an account via an 'evil' IP. Once you pay it you are fully whitelisted and can post or log in from as many 'evil' IPs as you want without further penalisation.

If you are using a public VPN then the longer it's been up the more likely it is to have points of evil.

With the recent explosion in altcoins, the altcoin boards have become the most frustrating forums to read as they are loaded with nonsense speculation and buying "advice" that is more than likely fuelled by self interest.
If there were to be one thing I'd love to see added to the rules, it would be a policy of disclosure. That is, a moral obligation to state whether a coin that is referenced by a poster in a post is held by that person.
Of course it couldn't actually be policed, but people have a moral obligation to disclose their ramping and the forum has a moral obligation to help readers to discern between what is independent/thoughtful posting and what is self-serving blather.

If anything, shills should be red tagged. This would be similar to how the forum 'deals' with scammers (and to a lesser extent, spammers). People should be able to tell between legitimate advice and obvious shilling... and if you want some form of policing then it is very much possible to either tag the accounts yourself or send details to DT members to view and tag. The latter would take some time and I'm not sure which ones would really be willing to sink in that amount of effort just to tag shills in the altcoin section: most DT members remain in the Bitcoin part of BCT.

Hi, I came across an article on Cointelegraph, stating that in order to post an image rich announcement in the "Tokens (Altcoins)" section, the author needs to have at least 30 activity points. I have read the above rules but I can't find any mentions regarding this issue. I would really appreciate if someone could confirm if its really the case. Thanks!

You have to have 30 activity points, which equates to being a Jr. Member or you can pay to be a Copper Member which gives Newbies some extra privileges (image posting and reduced limitations on PMs) Taken directly from the FAQ:

Added 2 more FAQ questions, modifed an old one and added guidelines for the 2 new boards: Q: When will I be able to add an avatar to my account? A: Once your account is ranked Full Member or higher. Q: Why aren't I receiving any messages from newbies? / I'm a newbie and I can't PM other usersA: In order to mitigate spam, messages to and from newbies have to be opted in. You can do so here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;sa=pmprefs. If you are a newbie and can't seem to reach a user who's buying / selling goods and / or services, post on his thread about it. Serious discussion - "More serious discussion. No advertising of any kind. No junk posts. ". Unlike in most other main section boards, altcoin talk here is OK. You must be a Jr Member to post in this board. Posts in this board do not increase your post count.
Ivory Tower (child board of Serious discussion) - "Even more serious discussion. [Full] Members and above only. No advertising of any kind. No junk posts.". Same as Serious discussion in terms of altcoin content. Posts in this board do not increase your post count nor do they count towards your activity.

Can you see your merit history in this page?: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=meritIf it does, you can add the link along with the information about merit system in the 1st page. I'm going to update the Translated - Filipino Thread as well. And this part: Also, remember when PMing the signed message, send it in

brackets (just without the space at the end). For example,
You can remove the space without activating the code header using the "[nobbc][/nobbc]" tag. example:

Theymos said there will be a public merit rating history for every user added tomorrow. Wait for it and there should also be a link added somewhere to directly access it.
