Posted an airdrop in Announcements (Altcoins), but it got deleted. Any thoughts on why that could be?

It probably fell under rule 1. 1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads. Did your post say anything interesting or informative that hadn't already been said in the thread?

Ok great , after I read this unofficial list of ( official ) Bitcointalk.org rules , guidlines . Now I as newbie become more undesttood , but I still have question, why deleted my comment if I comment in off topic .
Isn't it pretty obvious? If you want to talk about Ethereum, create your own thread (AND IN THE RIGHT SECTION) instead of posting something totally off topic in a thread about Bitcoin.

I have a dual understanding of the 12: - you can't copy postings to other boards.
- you can't create a topic if there is a similar one.
I don't know which one is right. Maybe both? 12. No duplicate posting in multiple boards (except for re-posting it in the local language boards if it's translated).

I don't know which one is right. Maybe both? You can't create same topic any where irrespective of the board. Only exception is if Topic is created in one language, and you are going to translate the same thread in some other language, this is allowed. For example there is a topic (you created), this topic is in Russian board " Bыбopы нaчaлиcь!", you can't create same thread again any where. Now if you want to create same thread in English/Chinese or any other language other than Russian, this is legal. NOTE: be very very careful if you are going to translate someone's topic without seeking permission or without citing the source it is considered plagiarism and will result in permanent ban.

Thanks. In fact, I'm more interested in point 2. Topics with a similar theme (and different content) are deleted in the Russian board, with reference to rule 12. And it is recommended to write your post in the existing topic. I just want to know, is there same practice in the main boards?
(sorry for my English grammatic)

There is but there are so many that they don't all get reported and trashed.

Ok, can I ask the last questions? These topics violate the point 12 or the point 1? 1. Such posts like "SELL SELL SELL", "I agree", "+1", "Support", "Watching", "Interesting", "LOL", "SCAM", "LEGIT", "FAKE", other one word posts, posts consisting mostly of swearing, quote pyramids, useless introduction threads, threads about a topic already recently discussed in several other threads.
12. No duplicate posting in multiple boards (except for re-posting it in the local language boards if it's translated).
If there is only one old topic with the same theme, then creating a new one will be to violate rules? There are no problems with reports in the Russian board.

The title of this thread "Unofficial list of (official)....". It's all down to individual interpretation. Does someone see the thread and think it is a spammy duplicate and report it or not?

No. Some topics contained a useful information but they were trashed. It wasn't a spam. Just their theme crossed with the theme of another topic. I want to clarify this situation for myself.

It depends from each mod interpretation. If the duplicated topic is active then odds that the second topic will be deleted are high. If the first topic is less than 1-2 month old, I recommend to continue posting on it only serious questions. If the first topic is > 3 months or years old or locked then i will create another one and make a reference to the original one. If the first topic contains useful informations but it is too old or locked then why don't you merge its contents with some other topics and create a new one containing more informations with reference to the original one. (list of useful information...etc)

Yes, it's this. You need to clear it up with the moderator of the board in question.

Are there other languages the rules have been translated to?
Is it really hard to figure it out alone? Look at the end of mprep post... If you could help with another one then welcome I believe this is an auto-bot, we will figure this out soon... Edit : 100% an auto-bot was detected!

Hello, I have my announcement post on Altcoin, I would like to inquire if adding extra information to my posted thread such as "our coin has been listed on XX exchanges" and " our coin has officially listed on XX ranking sites", this kind of additional information are allowed? I hope my question is that silly to ask and looking forward to your response on this matter.

There shouldn't be any problem with follow-up information or updates in your own thread as long as you're the Author. Post like those can count as a bump or an update and even " bump" word alone isn't counted as spam; however, one-word bumps should be deleted afterwards. The problem is, if those were posted by questionable newbies and brand new accounts, it will fall into spam and the ANN thread will be flagged red by cautious members. Take note: " our coin has been listed on XX exchanges" is good enough, but a well formatted and constructive update can be a good eye-candy to your potential investors.

I had my account compromised with a changed password and email changed. It was a very old account and the btc address was many wallets ago so it was useless to try the "signed message" method for recovery. I setup a new account, I was the owner/mod of a very important announcement thread... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2103301.new#new.... I requested it to be locked but was referred here. Our dev has since started a new announcement thread so we'd like to lock the old one to prevent posting and or spamming. Since I cannot log in I'm unable of course to lock it myself. I would appreciate any guidance how to proceed Thank You

Simply use the " report to moderator" button on the lower right of the post/thread and request to lock it alongside with a valid reason or description. That is more noticeable than posting a thread in the Meta board. Example: " Please. lock this thread because the author is currently inactive and a new active thread was already opened as as a replacement." However, if the reason is too vague, moderators will ignore it.
