I, personally, find it absolutely nuts to adopt an already in-use unit and apply it to bitcoin.  I think that everyone knows what a bit is, it's a unit of information

In that case the unit of measure of information should have used a different name since bit usage in coinages predates the use in Informatics by centuries.
That said I actually appreciate the idea of going with a microbtc unit, and that gives a sens to a satoshi being 1-e8 rather than 1-e9 btc.

On OTC it was semi-seriously proposed to use "hals", in honor of the late Hal Finney. I'd like this and there's no more confusion in doing that:
  1 btc = 1'000'000 hals
  1 hals = 100 satoshis

Yeah it was. For everyone who missed it, Vice was effectively a shill [1] playing with 25 BTC casino money pushing the casino limits a bit.  He managed to turn that 25 BTC -> 75 BTC, which ended up taking down the casino for ~10 minutes while I patched things up. All his games were removed, the +EV people experienced while he played were real, and I recomp'd about ~0.3 BTC to people playing during those games as some of them were motivated to go a bit bigger and harder than they otherwise did.

The casino limits were dropped substantially in response as well, from 1 BTC a bet to .1 -- and max win to about 1 BTC now.

In hindsight, the whole thing was really stupid for me to have done on a live site -- and I'm sorry for anyone mislead by the action in the games he was playing. If it makes anyone feel better, the whole thing was triggered by me being a naive idiot rather than the intentions of misleading anyone

I heard that Vice made big profits by max-betting and letting it ride until it triggered the max payout limit.

I had a go myself with less than stellar results:

The game after I stopped ran up to ~80x of course. Smiley

Quite interesting:

TheGamblist ran a simulation over the last 500 to test the profitability of different cash out points, these were his results:

Quote
1.01 = 99% 1.05 = 97% 1.11 = 97% 1.21 = 98% 1.31 = 97% 2.50 = 83% 4.00 = 91% 4.80 = 104% 5.00 = 106% 5.10 = 109% 5.25 = 112% 5.35 = 111% 5.50 = 104% 6.00 = 102% 10 = 82% 13 = 97% 14 = 112% 14.5 = 105% 15 = 108% 16 = 100% 20 = 95% 50 = 87%

Then taking the theory into practice, he started wagering on the profitable cash out amount:

and then with another account going for the other one:

In somewhat of a panic, I wrote up my own little simulation:
Code:
function genGameCrash() {
    if (Math.random() < 0.01)
        return 0;

    var r = Math.random();
    var perfect = (1 / (1 - r));

    var houseEdge = (perfect-1) * 0.01;

    var multiplier = perfect - houseEdge;

    return Math.floor(multiplier * 100);
}

for (var p = 101; p < 2000; p += 1) {  // which cashout points to check (101 = 1.01x )
    var balance = 0;

    var runs = 1000000;  // how many wins at each point (amount of wins)
    for (var i = 0; i < runs; ++i) {

        balance -= 100;

        var cp = genGameCrash();

        if (cp >= p) {
            balance += p;
        } else {
            ++runs; // we didn't win, so lets increase
        }

        if (cp != 0)
            balance++; // add the bonus
    }

    console.log('[Over ', runs , ' games] Cashing out at  ', p/100, ' gives ', balance/i, ' per game');
}

but I'm unable to reproduce the results TheGamblist is seeing, yet i'm oddly nervous (hence posting this here)

I deposited 1 BTC a few weeks ago, played a bunch and was lucky enough to get up to 4.68 BTC.

Earlier today I requested a withdrawal for 4.68 BTC, and it was processed shortly afterwards.

There was a bit of a delay while the funds were pulled from cold storage, but not too long.

Just thought I'd report on a positive experience with moneypot.com. Smiley

Edit: here's the withdrawal transaction for what it's worth.

I've seen the number get stuck before while the curve keeps moving. I'm pretty sure it happens when you lose connection to the server temporarily.

If you want to be sure that you will get cashed out at a certain point, even if your ISP connection goes down temporarily, you can use the auto-cashout feature.

Hi Abreezy,

Firstly, as a token of good will -- I've credited your account 0.116 BTC.

The issue you saw is caused when the client doesn't hear from the server in a period of 300ms -- it locks the chart on the last value it saw, until the connection resolves.

However, I would like to make it clear that even in the presence of network issues, I can not keep offering rebates -- as if you look at it from my perspective, I actually don't make money in these cases. There are three possibilities:

a) The connection resumes, and the 'cash out' button you no doubt spammed gets sent to the server.
b) The server detects you disconnects and cashes you out
c) You stay in the game, the game continues until crash or max-payout (in this case it would've been 10x)

In all three cases, you are just effectively increasing your risk and reward -- your EV stays more or less the same [2], it's not a source of money for me when network issues slow down (or even prevent!) cash outs

[1] Technically it goes slightly down as the house margin approaches 1%

It's a fun game - much more so than 'traditional' dicing. The real-time element really makes a difference.

I hope you consider making a crowd-funded version, with higher limits. I'd be very interested in both investing in and playing on such a site.
