isn't this program related to having a modified vbios. Usually a undervolted bios that works in linux but not windows

This file is part of AMD video driver.
When something is wrong with the hardware usually that's the driver showing as the reason of crashes/bsods.

In this case however probably the driver is causing crash cause it is buggy, or at least I hope that it is.

Using 14.9 driver.
Initially the 6th card was showing the code 43 error and after running the mod, the device got unlisted from the device manager.
Now showing only 5 cards.
Couldn't retrieve back.
Kindly help.

In case something goes wrong
By default 6xGPU_mod will create backup registry file in the current folder - launch it and reboot.

Also simply re-installing the driver should help - all changes done by the mod will be gone.
However, device disappearing from the device manager.. weird, maybe there is hardware issue.

I am having issues getting it to work in my other rig which has mixed cards. Some are 280X and some are 7970s. The other rig worked right away because they were all identical cards but this one has mixed cards and I don't know how to install the drivers manually. Since in 13.12mod I was given an INF file to put in the drivers folder and update for each display adapter but here there is only the executable file.

So there may be issues as well.

As for AMD, in 8/8.1 if you installed Microsoft driver(from auto-update) not AMD(downloaded from amd.com etc) - then more cards were working. Basically M$ driver had my mod embedded ; ) But not all of it. In w10.. imo a lot of things have changed. Also AMD removed Catalyst.

Anyway, there were no limits hardcoded or stuff like this - just the driver and it's configuration were not tested properly on 6+ GPU setups.
Imo since nVidia launched Grid, they did test on 'a lot of GPUs' systems and AMD didn't.

I actually tried that twice, with DDU and everything but for some reason that 15.12 can't work. Don't know why.
